Have not read this whole thread, but after last night's episode I searched for a forum on this. I feel totally ripped off as a devoted fan by this season. It has been nothing but ridiculous episode cliffhangers and fear factor, but did not move forward with any character build up or furthering the storyline at all except t keep threatening us with Negan. And seriously, what in the heck was wrong with Carol. How can such a superhero character become a quivering bowl of jelly in less than one episode. It was unrealistic and totally lazy writing.

As far as last night's episode, an article on Forbes tore apart the timeline of how quickly the Saviors were able to block ALL the roads in the matter of time we saw the different factions leaving Alexandria. As far as the ending, it was foretold in an article last week with one of the producers that the camera was only going to show you the point of view of the victim, with blood splatter, and no identity.....so I knew that was coming. However, there was another article that said they analyzed the audio at the end of the episode and you can hear a voice in great pain say "Maggie" and then hear a baby cry. So their theory was that it was Glenn (as written in the comics) seeing the life he won't have as he died (although that may be reaching a bit LOL).

Overall though, my opinion is they need to reign it in and get back on track. Enough with wimpy homebody happy Rick and Michonne -- get their crap together and let's have an all out war (which I think is the title of the next five comics). So I'm hoping for a nice ending to Negan!

The cast definitely doesn't know. TD made that pretty clear, unless I misunderstood. And I think that's part of the reason why all the actors are so upset... They're still waiting just like we are!

An interview with a producer/writer said that they were not told and won't know until filming starts -- and maybe not even then for an episode or two if they flash forward.

Here are some of my thoughts:

Carol's storyline at the end of this season is really annoying. I can't stand her scenes anymore. She says she wants to be alone but winds up with a new (now dead) group at the Library -- so much for being alone. And I don't buy that she found the group all dead before she got there because she was stabbed assumingly by the Saviors who were dragging the last librarian through the woods torturing and eventually hanging him. I understand her guilt but so many of the other characters have guilt for killing as well. To go from awesome to meek is just sad and sad writing for her character this season.

I didn't understand the hanged walker at the library that Morgan cut down. What was the point? I get that it was the "hard to kill" walker that Carol referenced but it seemed like just another walker stunt. I expected Morgan to see something up there when he cut him down but there was nothing. Seemingly no point in an already slow episode.

They go through all of the Morgan "all life is precious" storyline to have him just kill at the end? The cheese maker would have been so disappointed. But, that one's alright because I like the more crazy kill'em Morgan anyway. That Morgan is WAY more fun.

I'm finally beginning to like Eugene. Let's not kill him next season, ok? Or at least for a while -- or until after he makes some bullets.

The cat and mouse game with the RV and roadblocks was overkill but it did set up the Saviors as a large group with many more resources (and a psychic or a mind reader as well to know where that RV was going next) than they have in Alexandria or the Hilltop. Eugene even said that they had to have some very large equipment to make that (very over the top) log roadblock. And they just had to set it on fire and then hang a guy, huh....

The whistling at the end -- seriously, there are still walkers out there and yet not one of them shows up at the end after all of that noise?

I knew that Rick needed to be taken down a notch or two after this season. He's been coming in and just killing everyone without almost any thought. Repercussions had to be coming but this seems extreme to be caught like this. But he did kill a bunch of Saviors in their sleep. So...maybe it is fair after all. I just don't like it.

Negan's speech at the end was about 5 minutes too long. What is it with the villains in this show just yappin' away?

The show is not in season 1 or 2 -- you do not need to do a cliffhanger like that especially after the Glenn is he or isn't he dead episodes and last weeks Darryl getting shot ending. Greedy show runners. At least show us who gets killed to let us process during the 6 month break. I was surprised and saddened when Hershel was beheaded but when the show returned I had processed it. I'm sure the audience would be able to handle the outcome.

The guys on the horses are from a group folks haven't seen yet. Their leader is pretty charismatic. Interested to see how they accomplish his 'companion'.

Most of the major characters have gone through more than one metamorphis.

As for the cry of a baby, I don't think she was far enough into her pregnancy for that to be realistic.

Wasn't too impressed by the episode. Do wonder how large the Saviors group is as they knew they were coming and blocked all possible pathways. Either they have people watching in the woods (or cameras), or a spy within the walls. Assuming they're also using radios to communicate. Do wonder why they never bugged the Alexsndria group before, assuming they've known about them for a long time. Also wonder how the Saviors were assembled. Background history would be nice.

The guys on horses helping Morgan and Carol might be interesting. Curious about them.

Why is the guy that they beat and hung called the Librarian? And which group is he from?

Done with the Carol storyline. Let's just kill her. Her characters gone downhill.

Liked Eugine stepping up to drive the RV. They captured him and met up with Rick and Co pretty quickly. The whistling reminded me of the Hunger Games, lol.

I think he was from a group that was living in the library. The Savior said something like, "we have to make an example of you. Your people tried to fight us" and the guy said, "why? all the people back at the library are dead?" So it seems the Saviors were bullying this group too, just like hilltop. I think they were just showing how ruthless they are. I guess that is where Carol and Morgan were holed up? Not sure if Carol was there for the attack or what. I thought the Savior that was hurt by Carol in the car/arm gun scene was the one who beat her up. I was a bit confused by that.

It was different Saviors blocking the roads each time, except for the bridge scene where they hung the guy. That was the first group they encountered. But with the second group being different people, the timeline doesn't really matter and it also served as evidence of the fact that there are more Saviors than them and what they were aware of. Also, I surmised that either the Saviors have eyes on Alexandria and knew they were heading out to Hilltop, or it was assumed Hilltop/Alexandria people would be traveling back and forth so they blocked all roadways in anticipation of it.

I always get a feeling of relief after a finale, and then I remember that they loooove to kill people off in season premiers!

Carol started falling apart when they were trapped in that warehouse with the women squad -- and on the talk show that follows they were even wondering whether her breakdown was phony to throw them off, or she was losing it. Then the very next show she just up and leaves because she doesn't think she can kill to save the ones she loves? She's been killing for 5 seasons -- I thought it was very unrealistic, and she was my favorite. JMO

the crying baby mentioned in the article was theorized to be Glenn hearing the cries of the baby he'll never know -- not that she actually gave birth. Like I said, I think the article was stretching it a bit to summarize who died. They also theorized that when season 7 starts, they may not start at the point and may jump forward and we may not find out who died until an episode or two later. Who knows -- I'm just all around disappointed with the whole season.

yes, isn't that the same guy that surprised the ambush and was shot in the arm in the truck. He was tracking her and I thought that's why he was so mad at her.

I think that is correct but someone upthread said Carol was at the library with Morgan. If that's the case, I guess we don't know what went down or how she was stabbed. I assumed it was the savior tracking her, but it seems she was at the library when Morgan found her. Is that right?

I hate to admit that I have some friends that are HIGHLY over involved with this show. They can make you about pee yourself listening to them argue and dissect episodes. Apparently after last nights episode, 4 of them are getting together to rewatch that last scene. Something about the angle of the trees in the back ground and being able to figure it out by lining everybody up and placing them all in the right spots. Yes, they are Geeks to the core and the guys house they are going to has a projection tv that takes up an entire wall of the basement. I was asked if I still had the roll of white paper table cloth. I told them yes and I want pictures of what hair brained idea they are thinking about. I can only imagine the slow motion forwarding and rewinding that will be going on along with all the some mathematical calculating that will accompany it. It will be a neck in neck race for which one causes the most angst for them, they hash through this cliff hanger and compare it with the whole Glenn is he or isn't he dead. It will bring up much laughter for the next several months.

I like Carol's story so far, personally. Much better than her one in the comic. I will say this, though: Her body is taking a beating this year. First she got hit by a car, now she has multiple bullet holes. Poor gal.

Glenn's death in the comic was so iconic, I honestly can't see that moment going to any of the other characters. We'll see in half a year, I suppose! I just hope they're not doing a "baby death swap" (Judith lived, so now they're going to kill off Maggie's baby instead). That would be so cruel to Maggie.

Honestly, I would be far more upset if Maggie dies than if it is Glenn. I don't want either of them to go, but I think there is such a leadership future for Maggie and I really want to see that.

The general consensus among the critics and across social media so far is that the episode was a giant fail. When you have the show runner defending the episode on conference calls the day after airing I think it is a safe bet that they blew it.
