The walking dead amc #2

Good episode last night! On par with the first one. Hope they keep it going!

I thought Bob went outside and was preparing to kill himself, because he knew he had been bitten. Very surprised he was nabbed by the Terminus group. And I agree that I also got the impression the Terminus group knew Bob from before their run-in with Rick & company. Initially I thought maybe Bob was part of Terminus and left them in the lurch which is why they were angry at him, but that wouldn't make sense because it likely would have come up when he traveled there with Sasha. Then I thought maybe he was a part of the group that raped the Terminus people before Rick & Co. got there. Not sure why Bob would go there if they were familiar with him though, but I did get the impression they knew Bob somehow. Especially since Gareth kept saying his name and I don't recall them ever getting Rick & Co's names. They kept referring to them as "the samurai", etc.

Also, are we supposed to believe Carol was trying to run away from the group? That scene was kind of glazed over, but her working on that car in the middle of the night and then being frazzled by Darryl showing up.

I'm wondering if the Father Gabriel story line will tie into the vehicle that has Beth. The car that has Beth appeared to have a cross on it, which led many people to believe it would tie into the Fr Gabriel story line (this came out last year by people familiar with the comics). However, the episode summary for next week's episode on IMDB references that we learn more about Beth and her kidnapping by "police officers". Interesting.

Lastly - what do you think Father Gabriel's secret is that Rick is apparently onto? I thought it would have something to do with Beth but it appears now it might just be that he selfishly locked himself in the church while his parishoners suffered outside.

Did anyone else that watched the Talking Dead think Chad Coleman really didn't know Tyrese very well? Chris asked what Tyrese meant when he was yelling I won't, when he was beating that guy, and his answer was I don't know. A couple of times last night, it seemed to me that he didn't have a very good grasp of his character.

.

Yes, she had the car running, she was running away, until Daryl showed up, then I think she kinda gave that up.

I also agree with the thought that it was a medical cross on the back of the car that has Beth.

I didn't get the whole "water jug drop" thing. Was that a blooper that they just kept in? Or was it Daryl's attempt at flirting?

I think Beth's episode is the 4th one... so not next week, but the week after.

I wasn't sure either, could have been a blooper, or he was saying she was so tough she can carry three gallons? Either way it was funny, and to see Carol actually laugh was refreshing (but her face did make it look like a blooper)

Okay, my thoughts...

I did think Bob was bit, but if he wasn't, he could still turn by the water getting into his mouth, eyes, nose, whichever. So it seemed like he was leaving so he wouldn't turn while everyone was sleeping. It did seem like Gareth knew Bob, but he didn't say anything during the trough scene. I do believe the BobBQ is the "Dale scene" from the comics. DH has been hoping they would do it in the show. Chris Hardwick on TD did sort of reference it, but couldn't say specifically which makes me believe it is the Dale scene. Spoiler: If you want to know the Dale scene, read this:
(Quick version) Dale gets bit & then the cannibals start eating him while he is still alive. I believe he laughs at them b/c they are all infected now & will turn.

I also think the cross on the car is a medical sign not religious.

I also think the jug scene w/Daryl was a blooper too. It didn't make any sense & Carol seemed to just go with it. I didn't like Carol just sneaking out like that. Wouldn't she realize the group would go looking for her & that would put them in harms way? I found it interesting when Daryl asked about what happened, Carol repeated exactly what Tyreese told her about telling the group about the girls. Maybe she thinks if they found out, they would kick her out again, so might as well just leave.

On TD, I think Chad (Tyreese) had a hard time answering the questions b/c he was trying not to give anything away.

I thought it was his wife

I didn't catch it on Talking Dead but read later that they mentioned on Talking Dead that the girl was the organist for the church. It was also the same walker girl in the basement that was going after the priest if you didn't catch that.

The slash on the tree, I read someone mention it could have been a slash created by Gareth clubbing Bob with the hilt of Michonne's katana and stricking the tree with the blade. Works well for foreshadowing him having Michonne's katana and getting it back when Rick finally kills him with the machete with the red handle.

Not real sure about the eating of tainted meat. It can't play out like that. Rick must kill him with the machete with the red handle.

Oh, and I'm thinking if Bob's gunshot wound is still open, him taking a dunk in the tainted water sure would do the trick.

DH and I thought the water jug scene was a blooper too! I think they left it in because it was kind of cute. The way he threw it at her and said, "you carry this" then she laughed and dropped her head, I don't know, it just seemed like a funny blooper.

I could not believe they thought it was safe to get in that water.

Also, did Gabriels girlfriend look like the girl, Bernadette, from Big Bang Theory? DH and I both noticed that when they showed the close up of the photo.

Oh, and Michonne needs to get her katana back. She looks so unnatural with a gun!!

TD next week is having a "surprise guest." Wonder if someone is going to die. It is not always the case when they have surprise guests, but sometimes it is. Chris Hartwick said something like, "It doesn't mean anything, really." and I couldn't tell if he was being serious or sarcastic. We shall see..........

He said it might not mean anything LOL. It could be Bob though, it's pretty clear that he isn't going to last much longer. Or it could be just someone one for fun.
I am waiting for Chandler Riggs to finally be a guest, Chris said at the end of last season Chandler would finally get to be on the show.
Agreed about Michonne and the gun.
It was cute when Carol laughed and said "nope" after he threw the water.

It did seem like Gareth knew Bob, but he didn't say anything during the trough scene.

Bob was the one asking Gareth to let them go. Gareth removed his gag and Bob told him about the scientist that was traveling with them that could cure this. Then Gareth put the gag back in Bob's mouth. Then he held the knife to Bob's eye while he was asking Rick what was in the Blue Bag.

From one of the recap websites:

Gareth enters, wanting to know how many shots each of The Butchers fired while they were herding Rick’s crew to the train car. As they contemplate answers, Bob takes the opportunity to get Gareth’s attention through his gag. Gareth allows him to speak, listening as he explains they have Eugene, who knows the cure. Uninterested, Gareth replaces Bob’s gag and tells him “Can’t go back, Bob,” a sentiment echoed throughout the last season. He instead moves to Rick and asks what it was that Rick buried outside of the Terminus perimeter. Rick says nothing at first, but as Gareth holds a knife to Bob’s eye, Rick finally admits that there were different types of guns in the bag, and a machete that he plans to use to kill Gareth. Laughing, he replaces Rick’s gag too, and it’s back to the slaughter business.

Ohhh, I hope that is what the slash is. Michonne just isn't the same without the Katana :thumbsup2

Now that they are still alive it definitely opens the door to getting the Katana back! Her face was hilarious when she went to reach for it this week, and it wasn't there.

I also think the water jug scene with Darryl/Carol was a blooper they left in. Just like the scene in the church when Judith let out a noise and Rick went with it by saying "if she's in, I'm in". That seemed impromptu based on the noise the baby made.

Another forum was speculating that the mark on the tree left by Gareth when they nabbed Bob was somehow related to the circled X that Morgan saw on the tree at the end of the first episode. Lots of speculation after the first episode what that circled X meant, and the fact that it was tattooed on the guy's face that Glenn let out of the container at Terminus. It would be curious if the slash on the tree was connected. Although I like the idea that it was done accidentally as a foreshadowing of them having Michonne's sword.

It would make sense if the marks on the trees were somehow connected I suppose.

That was adorable when the baby made that noise, you can tell that was unexpected by the laughter in the background. Good ad-lib on Andrew Lincolns part. Right before that when she was putting food in his mouth, that was so sweet!

My dad is a pastor and my mom is the organist, so she could be BOTH his wife and the church organist. I didn't get that it was an illicit affair at all. I assumed, just organist or wife. Nothing weird about a pastor having a picture taken with the organist :confused3

I think Bob was bit 100% and he was leaving when he was nabbed.

IMO, Carol was leaving. I think not being open about the girls was too much for her, but she is granting that request to Tyrese because she feels guilt still. I'm glad they took off after the car (looks like a medical cross, not church) but she's with cops, not medical people. So who knows. And the rest of the group has no clue, I know in the ads for next week, Rick (I think) was saying they had already lost 3 people and I assume he meant Daryl, Carol & Bob. I believe it was in question FG about his secret in case it had to do with why his people were missing.

My DH also thinks maybe FG is in cahoots with the car that took Beth. Like they let him live and help with supplies if he provides people for them. Take a couple strays in and on their next run by they pick them up. Kinda ties in with the mortuary where they nabbed Beth in the first place. Nice clean place, kept up (just like the church) with neat food in the cabinets just sitting there. Couple people come by, then BOOM you're nabbed.

I think the good father abandoned his flock and barred the doors so no one could get in, and that's his secret. Or, like my DH says, he used his position to save himself by purposefully giving others to bad guys.

Did any of you wonder what that folded paper, tucked in the bible was?

One of the gals leafed thru the bible when they all went inside the church after Rick cleared it

Really? I watched Talking Dead but I didn't hear anyone say that, but it may have missed it. They were speculating who she may be wife/girlfriend. But that's all I saw.

Yes I realized it was her. I figured it was someone he knew by the way he was acting.

I did. Wondered if they were going to open it.

I didn't even realize Bob had been bit. But then if his open wound was still open he could have been infected.

I think Gabriel locked himself in the church with the food and the scratches and the writing were from people trying to get in. The windows were too high for someone to climb in. The scratches were near the bottom. But I didn't see scratches on the door which was odd.

As my DH said, it's tv. What would be logical in real life (trying to get in the front door) doesn't necessarily apply to tv.

IE: I asked him how Bob woke up after them cutting his leg off. Wouldn't he have A) woken up when they cut it off? B) bled to death after they cut it off? C) died of shock when they cut it off? His answer was, it's tv.

I know they had this conversation. What I meant is that Gareth didn't say anything about them recognizing Bob or already knowing each other during the trough scene. So they most likely didn't know each other b4 & when Gareth was talking to him at the BobBQ, Gareth was referencing Rick's group, not an earlier confrontation. Do you get what I am trying to say now?
