The walking dead amc #2

I don't get how they can make a great episode like last night and yet nothing on Fear the Walking Dead has ever come close

Dang it -- my stupid DVR didn't tape the new episode! UGH -- now I have to sit through commercials.

I liked it. There were plot holes a mile wide but it was entertaining.

I guess this whole season will be the war. Maggie will be pregnant, and not showing, for three seasons. Ridiculous.

I read an article on EW that it has only been 19 days since Glenn and Abraham has been killed. The entire season with the Walkers in the quarry was 24 hours. I wish they did a better job of spelling out the timeline on the show. I think it would help us understand the moving at a glacial pace (Miranda Priestly voice) a bit better.

Overall I did enjoy the episode. I'm interested to see how the three different time hops come together.

I think it is the opposite! This season of Fear the Walking Dead was excellent and The Walking Dead has been going down hill the last few years.. I thought this episode, as a season premier and 100th episode, was lacking big time.

I agree -- it's hard for the viewer to comprehend that after waiting a year or 6 months for a season to return, only a few days have passed in the storyline on the show. Even if they just posted a note at the beginning of every other episode or so of where it is time-wise, it would be an awesome help.

I guess we disagree on that one. FTWD was far from excellent but it was entertaining. TWD has had some down episodes but overall it has maintained a pretty good level.

IMO, both shows suck. But TWD started off better and I got invested in our gang when the show was good so I keep watching. TWD had different showrunners in the beginning and they were better than Gimple et al.

Judith is the biggest reason I have a hard time remembering how slowly the timeline is supposed to be moving. Maybe I just suck at estimating children's ages but she looks another six months older everytime I see her.

I thought the same thing. She was an infant, then a toddler over night. We didn't really see her last night though, the scene she was in was in the future I think. I get so confused with the time line.

I'm jumping back into this thread after last nights episode too :) I watched it with my DS and we were both confused at the end because they went back to the scene where they were standing on the back of the flatbed truck and it left us wondering did any of that even happen.

I do not like all the strange dream sequences and time hopping. It makes the show too difficult to follow. The gearing up for battle and the attack on the compound were good, but the other stuff was too distracting. We plan on watching the whole episode again to see if we can make more sense of it.

And why in the world do they let Negan and his top guys just stand there talking for so long. Just shoot him already ;)

They did show her a couple of times as a toddler (once at Hilltop before the battle - Enid took her in the other room while Maggie was talking to Jesus, I think).
Then again when she was sitting on the ground outside playing with the sidewalk chalk.

But yes, then they showed her a few years later in the time hop/dream sequence portion where she and Rick had aged (but Michonne and Carl look exactly the same). So that does make it even more confusing.

I was confused with the time jumping too, it's like they went back in time. First they had the whole speech, then they went to Negans lair and had the gun fight, then Negan and Father Gabriel trapped in the shed etc. Then they were BACK to the flat bed truck and Father Gabriel was in the crowd. So it looks like they jumped back to before the whole gun fight. Not sure why, I don't think it added anything. I was finding it a little hard to follow.

I also wanted them to just shoot Negan.

Last night's episode was directed by Greg Nicotero. He tends to be "artsy" in his directing style. He's never really straightforward in how he presents a story so it can be all over the place at times. Hopefully next week's episode cleans some of that up. Overall I thought it was a good, not great episode.

My DW and I were saying they same thing "just shoot Negan already" but then you realize that ends the "going to war" story arc in one episode with no losses by Rick's side. And you know some of those are coming.

I forgot to ask what everyone thinks will happen to Father Gabriel? He is stuck in that shed with Negan. On one hand, I can't imagine he is a threat to Negan so maybe Negan will let him live. OTOH, why would Negan let him live? He has Lucille with him, so I just wonder what Gabriels fate will be. Obviously Gabriel won't kill Negan, that will be Rick, plus that would end the whole war.

Which would be just fine with me ;)

Just checking in to this thread. I thought the episode was good but could also have done without the confusing hopping around from one close up of Rick to another. Mostly though, after watching the live Talking Dead show and hearing the cheers and screams for Darryl I had to log on to say... Ladies! He has not been hot since season 2, if he even was then. Seriously, he's nasty. Ok if your character has greasy in the face hair as part of his persona on the show that's fine but no need to show up for the after party looking like that. Gross.
