I don't believe Negan knows that Alexandria and Hilltop know each other, does he? I assumed Rick & Gabriel chose to say Maggie was dead as opposed to saying she went to Hilltop was so that Negan didn't think the two communities were in cahoots/partners.
Nobody kills him. I have said it a million times. You just don't want to believe. Though I'd like Rick to do it...as he promissed.
Judith is gonna kill Negan. callin' it.

I think he will meet his demise at some point. I think Carl will actually be the one, maybe Maggie but leaning towards Carl. I wish it would be Rick since he told Negan he would kill him someday but I don't think it will be Rick. I think, though, Negan will be alive and well all this season and next. Then I think the show will be caught up to the comics thus far. Unless they even drag it out for three seasons. I could see that too. Show needs to be careful because fans got tired of the Governor story dragging out and they won't tolerate that again. Already folks are saying they are done watching.I know in the comics he is still alive, but usually the villain will always meet his demise at the hands of the hero, just inevitable![]()
Negan isn't so much a character on The Walking Dead as he is a violent force of nature. There is no seeming inner psychology to Negan, no deeper meaning to anything that he does, he is just an awful, vile person. While some fans might enjoy this because it makes Negan immediately unlikable, The Walking Dead should treat its villains with more care.
Negan is everything that was wrong with the big kills that opened the season. He is there just to shock and disgust the audience. There is no emotional weight to Negan because he doesn't seem real. He's not there to be a fully-fledged character or anything close to resembling a human being. Negan exists to be hated and that is most lazy thing that The Walking Dead could do with a villain.
Even when you compare Negan to other Saviors he still looks insanely poorly written. The best Saviors that The Walking Dead has introduced are Dwight and the short-lived Paula from season 6. In both Dwight and Paula, The Walking Dead gave the audience reasons for what actions those characters have taken. Paula and Dwight might have both done monstrous things but they, themselves, are not monsters. They might be unlikable but they are still understandable. Negan is just a one-dimensional wrecking ball of a character. No depth, no emotion, just killing.

This was an interesting article about Negan & some of the things we've been discussing.
From the article -
And, to be fair, the author of the article isn't faulting JDM's performance - just the way the character is being written.
Who does everyone want to be the one to kill Negan? I go back and forth with this. My top choices are Maggie, Rick or Daryl. Any one of these 3 doing it I would get great satisfaction of watching.
With the Governor we knew he lost his family, we got the feeling he was actually a decent guy pre-apocalypse and snapped when everything went down. We got to see how he kept his daughter as a zombie with the hopes a cure would be found to bring her back. With Negan it's just violence with no explanation why. Even if he was a psychopath pre-apocalypse, show that, let the audience know where he is coming from.
I don't think he knows they know each other either. I meant when Negan goes to Hilltop, he may see Maggie. He knows what Maggie looks like and he'll know they lied that she died.
This was my thought. Why on earth would they lie about Maggie? He will find out she is alive and he will be furious.
The Governor definitely had some Negan attributes to him. His daughter was the only thing that really softened him up a bit for the audience. Remember the torture tools he was laying out in the room for when he thought Michonne would be handed over to him? He was planning some sick violence on her. He also had some perceived sexual assault on Maggie. And he also like Negan wanted to control everything and have everything be his. Which was why he told the Woodbury army to kill Rick & whoever he brought with him after they handed Michonne over to him. And also why he had all the military guys killed, because he didn't want them coming in and trying to take over Woodbury and he wanted all their stuff. And let's not forget all the heads he kept as trophies. Governor just didn't have as many bad jokes as Negan, but was plenty violent and messed up in his own way.
True. I didn't mean to suggest the Governor was a good guy. I was just saying with his backstory you got the sense he just snapped. Like he never did anything like this pre-apocalypse, that he was pretty decent. Although I guess the things he ended up doing, how decent could he have been.
It would be interesting if they dove into Negan's backstory. I find it interesting to find out _______ (person) was __________ (profession) or that someone had something happen at the beginning of the outbreak (i.e. Michonne) that changed them into who they are now. They don't dig enough into those possibilities.

Is there a thread that discusses the show without the comic book references?
Is there a thread that discusses the show without the comic book references?
No, but it's been discussed that anything related to the comics be put under the spoiler button. Some do, some don't.
Thanks. I thought that was the case and I don't mind if people want to discuss the comics but I wish they would use the spoiler button. I don't read the comics and don't really want to know how they relate to the TV show.
