Nope, not a drop. And we could really use the rain here.

I think that's the day we were stuck in line at TT at EPCOT for 2 hours. God I was so pissed that day. Not because of the rain but becasue of the fact that we stayed in line for that long.

Now, I have to worry about getting stuff ready today and tomorrow, since the only time I will have to pack anything will be Thursday. I thought about you today as I heard a news story about a 22 year old local city councilman who had been killed. They are donating his organs because that was his wish. I think that organ donation is so important.

Yeah I saw that but they say it will be back up to a 4 by the time it hits miami. I hope the bahamas take some umph out of it too but I'm not holding my breath at this point. I just knew something was going to ruin my vacation.

Yes we already bought our tickets for sept 12th.

That's what we're doing. We're gonna wait and see what's going on with it on Tuesday and make a decision at that point. I'm just not getting my hopes up that it will do us any favors and let us be able to go.

I've just been lurking. I was feeling sorry for myself because next week was when we had our plans. Now I am more concerned about everybody else and what is going on with Ike.

Me too Cheri, thanks! Then DH went down to the little store as all our food had gone bad so he wanted to get something to eat and they sent him over to the firehouse and so he went over and they gave him a case of MRE's and a case of water. So he said he was going to put them in the back of the camper and bring back with him, just in case Ike hits us hard. The resort doesn't have any back up power so we'd be without here. Then he went down to Burger King for some burgers.

We got so many MREs after Rita that I didn't have to buy Peanut Butter for a LONG LONG time. Hopefully ya'll won't have to use them!! And i am SOOO Thankfull ya'll didn't have too much damage. Your Poor Birdies are probably going to feel devastated though!!!

I saw that this morning!!!! The first thing I did this morning was watch the news for the weather and I was so happy to see that the projected path is more south west and that it looks like it'll miss florida. I can handle wind and rain while we're there...just not hurricane strength wind and rain. So this looks good for vacation. That stinks that it looks like it might threaten LA or TX and the Florida pan handle again. I'm praying that it goes to TX (since I don't know anyone there....is that selfish?) so it can leave poor Cheri and OB and everyone there alone!! HOpefully it looses a LOT of strength over the Bahamas and just fizzles out. **pray pray pray**

Don't PRAY THAT PLEASE!!!!!!! As it is anytime it looks like a hurricane is going to hit the golden triangle area we have to prepare to leave because of the danger of lights going out due to the bad weather coming off the storm. Because of DHs dialysis we have our litle gold/orange medical evacuee paper and packet all ready! AND AHEM!!! You don't me??? Gee here I thought you liked me!!

We were supposed to have all the rain from Gustov. They actually cancelled school and everything and we had 2 of the prettiest days we'd had in along time. We finally got a drizzle late Tues for about 5 min. And we sure could have used the rain. I live North of Houston and west of the Golden Triangle area. I'm about an hour and 15 min. from Beaumont. Braeton was born in Lake Charles La. We have LOTS of friends in family in the whole Triangle area. Usually people evacuate here as a lot of people have summer homes here on the Lake. But with DH we have to prepare to evacuate anytime there is a chance of prolonged power since our BRAND NEW Dialysis center does not have a back up Generator Lufkin use to be the shelter and theres is not open right now so we have to Kilgore Tx and shelter in churches. So we have decided that if we have ot leave we will go to OK to DHs Dads and brothers and turn it into a vacation. Branson Mo is about 1 1/2 to 1 hr and 45 min from their houses so we will just go have fun!!!

Hey if you look in my siggie there is a link to a wish trippers thread. If she hasn't got on there she may want to check it out. It's full of people that have went on Wish Trips or are going. Wish Trips are a little diff from reg trips so she might want to take a look there. It gives all the places to rest from the Wish Lounge in Mk to the parks that let you use their VIP lounges. If they are staying at GKTW then she will really want to get on their so she can see what activities she doesn't want to miss their and compare them to what she wants to see at WDW. Even if not she still might want to check us out. It's just a great place to be with people that are going through similar circumstances. Even after our trips we are still there for each other and the things we go through!!!

Hey y'all! We are OKAY! We got lots of rain & wind... all the creeks, rivers, etc. are flooding but we are in an elevated area so we shouldn't have to worry about that. We are going to take a walk here in a few to check out our little creek that runs along my walking path. It is very small and is dry a lot of the time if we don't get rain... so it should be interesting to see. I'll take pics!

Well - I've got some good news for Carla.

Ike's path has changed!!!

He is now moving more south and is expected to hit Cuba instead of Florida. I am sure FL will still get some wind and rain though.

Unfortunately, this new projected path puts Ike going into the gulf.

He should be weaker once he passes over Cuba, but you guys know how those warm gulf waters work. I only hope that he comes ashore in the most un-occupied piece of land he can find.

Whew! I'm watching it so closely! The main thing I'm worried about is flying over him or through him. Or even our flights being delayed or canceled. They can't do that to us! I'm also worried about our friends in LA and them having to endure another hurricane.

They suspended all vacation the Thursday before Gustav hit and I'm sure they'll do it again. If a manager wants one of their employees to still keep theirs, they have to go up higher and get it approved.

I'm totally screwed if this storm gets projected towards us. I could hold out hope that somehow I'll be approved to go since I worked my BUTT off after Gustav, but I don't see that happening. I just have to pray that this thing doesn't head for us.

I learned last year what a life saver the rain can be. We were in MGM when the skies decided to open up and it was pouring! Wasn't a lot of fun, but we stuck around. I think that was the day we rode ToT and there were only four people on it.

Good thing Cheri has free texting now. I think we'll all be texting her to check on her.

I'm totally screwed if this storm gets projected towards us. I could hold out hope that somehow I'll be approved to go since I worked my BUTT off after Gustav, but I don't see that happening. I just have to pray that this thing doesn't head for us.

oh no!! I remember you mentioning that last week. I really really hope they don't suspend your vacation and if they do that your boss would try to get you to be able to still go! You SO deserve it!! That would NOT be fair for them to do that to y'all since disney impliments fees for canceling and such this close to your vacation. I'll be praying that this thing just goes away. Chris' aunt lives in the Pan Handle so I do know someone there....I think it just needs to make a turn south! We don't know anyone down there.

Well, I changed my tune when I found out you live in TX. I had no idea LeeLee...show's how much I pay attention to everything I DO like you and I DON'T want the storm to hurt y'all either. Sorry girl. I really hope this storm doesn't affect anyone we know!!

My friend is on the wish trip thread I believe. Thanks for the advice and I'll be sure she's there so she can meet other people that have been on or are going on a wish trip

Just throw that storm on people we don't know huh!! The problem with that is I know people all over or people connected to them. Thats what happens when you're raised as an evangelists kid. i've been feeling for the poor people in Cuba we know some missionaries there and OH no wonder they'd rather chance death in a little crowded sinking boat to try to escape to the states!! Not only is it a rough country but they get ALL the weather from these storms

Oh so now we are throwing it somewhere else on some poor unsuspecting people!!!
No Seriously I do know what you mean. Where I live we are usually a spot where evacueescome. We are in between Houston and Lufkin which usually has shelters set up. When Rita came it threw us all for a Loop. We had all these Katrina people and then trying to get them all out of the Astrodome and further into Tx or out of it clogged our main rds up. I left our town an hour before the rest of my family in this area and I made it to Athens Tx where my sister was at the time 5hours before they arrived!! And then the way it hit Galveston and the Golden Triangle area it came to us and we actually had damage. The only good thing is our Mayor at the time recieved an award for having the quickest response. We had lights restored and emergency supplies before a lot of the surrounding areas so that makes me feel a little safer!!!
I worked in some of the red cross shelters after Katrina and those poor people had so much ripped from them I don't want to see ANYONE I know go through that again.
God PLEASE keep them all safe!!!

LOL I'm sure they are watching it too. It really doesn't look like it's going that way though. The nicest thing would be for it to just stay in the ocean and fizzle out but that's just not going to happen. I just dont want anyone I know personally to get hurt. You know?

That sounds crazy about all the storm evacuees that y'all have had to deal with. That happened here too when Katrina hit. New Orleans folks came here and just didn't leave.

Ooooohhh okay I'm with you now. I actually didn't read that one. I haven't been reading any TR's lately really since everyone from here finished there's (cept cheri but there's reasons beyond control for that). I just signed on for a DL TR and then I'm on another one that went during Hannah so I can see how they faired in the rain. So far it looks like they had fun but she's still only on day one. I'll have to run over and read that link you posted if it's entertaining. I like it when they put the links in the first post. Makes it so much easier to catch up.

haha normally I would be putting mine off too but I have to get us ready to go at some point. If I keep putting it off I'll be running around like crazy trying to get us ready to go on Wednesday night.
