The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

Honestly, I always liked the hotel side more than the DVC side. Moving from the hotel to the villas in a split stay always felt like a downgrade to me. The cost of the standard hotel rooms is ridiculous, though.

I love the cute Chip and Dale stuff on the hotel side. (And, as I keep saying, the extra lighting.) But yeah...the cost to stay on the hotel side is nuts, IMO.

I’ll be honest I bought into DVC as a novice not realizing that the DVC rooms were any different. My love for VGC came from staying in the hotel side.

Me to, to some extent. I stayed on the hotel side (with a 40% discount...no way could I pay full price!) Loved it so started researching DVC. I did find pictures of the DVC villas before actually purchasing, so I did know they were slightly different (And in some ways better than the hotel side.) But I didn't actually have a villa stay until a year after purchasing points.

Maybe for a studio…. definitely not with the villas….

Also, there is a reason some people refer to DVC as “Deluxe Adjacent” properties. However, the whole reason we bought them is because I want to vacation in an apartment and not a hotel room.

I love the DVC wing. Some of the rooms on the hotel side take foreeeeever to walk to. Being right next to our own private secret entrance to the park? A quick walk from the lobby. Super easy access to the pool/hot tub….

Absolutely love it.

I just want them to have the rooms kept up in the same fashion as the hotel side. We aren’t second class citizens to the resort and shouldn’t be treated that way.

The only time we were on the hotel side....we were just down the wing from DVC. So I have no idea what it's like to be in any other area of the hotel.

I definitely liked having the mini fridge (instead of beverage cooler) and little kitchenette area as well as a table in our DVC studio though. And I'm super excited to try out the 1-bedroom next summer! (Loved the 1-bedroom at BRV and I suspect like I'll VGC even more with the 2nd bathroom!)

I just had a very strange interaction with Disney vacation club regarding this.

I sent an email to Bill Dierksen the VP of Disney vacation Club regarding this referb. I got a voicemail from a cast member at Disney Vacation Club asking me to call back at my earliest continence so that they could discuss my concerns and gather some more information. So I called back and asked for the cast member that called me. I was put on hold for a minute and was then told that the cast member who called me was no there today. I said well she left me a voicemail today and I was just returning her call. I was then put on hold for another 5-6 minutes. When she returned she said that she found out what it was regarding and just wanted to know if I had any comments to add to my email.

Seems kind of weird if you asked me.

Is it normal for them to call members and ask if there is any comment they would like to add to an email correspondence?

That is interesting…..

So I just got another call. This time it was the original person who called me. She was very nice… she basically just apologized for not being there to take my call and said they wanted to let me know that they are all in on the loop and also wanted to thank me for my feedback… I still didn’t get any answers… still kind of different. Any time I’ve sent an email before, I usually just get the generic email response… not sure what to make of it.

I mean I can get a shower head for under 20 bucks on Amazon and install it in under 5 minutes... do better DVD
I’d probably want a nicer one that also has a handheld extension.

If they are buying 100 of them…. let’s says that $6500 total. With labor you are at $7500.

Let’s make it an even $10k for the caulking parts and labor too….

This is good and at least someone is noticing it and didn't just hit reply, copy, paste of a scripted response.
