I took my cat to the vet on Friday because he hasn't seemed himself lately and he started peeing on the floor (very weird for him!) When I called they said it was probably just a UTI. Well upon examination she could feel that his kidneys were enlarged and she thought she felt a tumor. They did blood work and we got the results today. He is near complete kidney failure and it seems the cancer is in his liver. His liver counts were through the roof. She said we could do an ultrasound and biopsy to confirm but we really didn't feel it was necessary based on everything else.
Ya know, when you look back at things it's amazing how they seem clearer. As we discussed his different behaivors and such I felt like smacking myself on the head and thought why didn't I see a problem sooner......
At least I know there was nothing I could have done to prevent it though, unless I want to spend a few grand on chemo, but that isn't going to help the kidneys.
He's such a sweet thing, only 3 years old. We brought him home as a stray, we found him abonanded at a baseball field when he was about 6-8 weeks old. He's my absolute love!
Sorry to ramble, this is just so hard to take. The vet figures he doesn't have very long so for now we are just going to love him all we can. She doesn't think he is in pain and he doesn't act it either. She said though when he should stop eating or develops vomiting or diahreea, then it is time. I hope that day never comes!
Thanks for letting my ramble and vent..........
