Jim Korkis just released a new book called "The Vault of Walt" I was just curious if anyone else plans to read it. I ordered it from Amazon and should get it tomorrow or the next day

I haven't ordered it yet, but I do plan on reading it. I have to confess that I do "cheat" occasionally, and listen to WDW radio, where is on on frequently. I like his style of talking about the unknown storylines about many of the attractions.

Is this book mainly on Walt Disney the man? I don't know a ton about it yet.

PS: Note to the podcast team... you will always be my first love, and if it helps any, I always feel dirty after I cheat....

Thanks for the info! I hadn't heard of the book, but I just ordered it from Amazon. It sounds pretty interesting and already has a couple good reviews. Thanks again!

I believe it talks about walt the man but also goes on to other things.

I have to say disunplugged is my fav podcast to. I annoy my dh by counting down to the next episode

Jim will be the speaker at the Disneyana Fan Club (formerly NFFC) World Chapter meeting on October 23 in Celebration.

:)Dis fan first, but also listen to Lou and this weeks podcast is a review of this book, sounds great, I love hearing his stories! I think it sounds like a positive read for all of us Disney fans. I will be reading it (from the library when it arrives)

FYI, Jim was a guest on Lou Mongello's last podcast. They talked abt the book quite a while. If he writes as good as he speaks, it will be a good book.

Yup, agreed. The interview is great. Can't wait to get the book. It's next on my Kindle list.

I'm curious to hear whether it has a bunch of photos in it - I'm planning to get the book on Kindle, but if there are lots of beautiful color photos, I may have to go with the paper version. I heard the interview too, and it really made me look forward to the book! :)

It's ok to listen to other Disney podcasts. There's no cheating involved!

I did listen to Lou's podcast, and from what Jim was saying, there are 10 chapters on Walt the man, and chapters on the parks, all self-contained stories. He seemed to stress that there were 40 stories in the book, and you didn't need to read them in sequential order if you choose not to.

Agreed, especially because they are so different. Lou's podcast is more interview and "in the parks" centered. And he has cool audio montages at the beginning. You can't dance to them like you can dance to the DIS intro though.

My book should arrive tomorrow and I can let you know then

I definitely plan on reading this book. I also listen to WDW Radio and LOVE the interviews with Jim Korkis. He has so many experiences and stories to share that I can't help but listen!!

I also don't think that listening to podcasts other than the DIS is 'cheating' LOL. There are a lot of them out there and they are very very different. I love the dynamic of the DIS, Kevin's dining reviews and Pete's rants... but I also love the quick tips that WDW Today gives me in 20 minutes or less, I enjoy Lou's positive take on everything (most of the time) and the interviews with Jim. WDWNT is another great podcast for Disney Geeks who are crazy about the history of the parks and attractions themselves. No trip planning in this podcast! LOL There's definitely something out there for everyone and as much time as I spend driving around in the car I need all I can get! :-)

Most certainly okay to listen to multiple Disney podcasts! They each have their own flavor and I will never pick a favorite.

The Jim Korkis interview was very interesting. I'll bet the book will be, too.

Yes, I plan to get the book. I love when Lou has Jim Korkis as a guest on the podcast - he's great to listen to :thumbsup2

Already downloaded it to my Kindle. I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Korkis last year at this time at the Brown Derby. Of course, he was with Lou and I was introduced that way. I love his interviews and after listening to his interviews, I develop an even greater appreciation for the topics discussed, like his Toontown Fair interviews. And since it now seems to be public knowledge, Mr. Korkis has been writing under the "pen name" of Wade Sampson at mouseplanet.com.

Anyone know the date of the most recent show Lou had Jim Korkis on?

I was thinking about a kindle as well. This may sound naive but ... it doesn't do pictures?

Guess that does make a bit of sense, just had not thought about that.
