The Vampire Diaries On The CW

Yup, my exact thoughts. I was thinking that John Gilbert is probably Elena's birth father - After all he does know who Isobel is.

^^^^ that would be intersting.

I as always, loved tonight's shoiw. It was so nice to be able to see how Damon and Stefan were turned into Vampires and see why they both are the way they are.

I am loving Damon more and more every episode. Can't wait for next week.

so i LOVED parts of this episode(the flashbacks, and Damon and Alaric pal-ing around) and parts of it were boring. i just can't take Elena and Stefan and their broodfests sometimes....Stefan's way more fun when he's hopped up on the human stuff.

and now i understand why Damon hates Stefan so much, he made him drink when he would have been perfectly fine dying instead of becoming a vampire.

That, plus the fact that he wanted Katherine all to himself, and since his brother was in on it too, he couldn't get what he wanted, and in his eyes, Stefan ruined EVERYTHING for him. I have this sudden twinge of sympathy for Damon, and for Stefan, I still feel sadness towards, but he's starting to get all my nerves, tbh. I used to be all on his side, now? Not so much. Don't get me wrong, he's as hot as habeñero sauce in a desert in late July :lmao:, but well, he's just not 'enough' for me. He's getting boring. :confused3

Also, I have been wondering this for a while now....Alaric reminds me of someone. I can't place it though....either his voice is familar or his face....SOMETHING....

Loved this episode tonight though. I'm actually starting to like Jeremy more, too, especially after the bedroom scene with Anna....go fig...I quit Stefan for Jeremy....it'll never end.

I am more curious than ever about 'Uncle John'. What is the deal with this guy?

I wish Pearl could have stuck around. I liked her.

I am enjoying the flashbacks and love the history. Why did they let the vamps live is my question? They could have lobbed off their heads and it would have been finished back then. I loved Pearl and was sad to see her go. :guilty:

Now it really should get interesting with Elena's birth mom showing up on the scene.
Really did not need the whole Damon with teacher scene in order for Mr. Teacher to declare "he is done with Isobel". That was odd, but I digress.;)

OTOH, loved the opening scene with Damon shirtless. Yum.

I was thinking about Stefan and Damon and it is certainly having a Louis and LeStat feeling which makes it interesting.

For those of you not up on "the bible" of modern vamps., you can read the first 3 novels of Anne Rice. The brooding of Stefan is certainly Louis.:lmao:

Now as much as VD tries to capture LeStat, no one can ever do that but Anne Rice. He is the ultimate modern vamp.

It will be interesting to find the origin of Katherine. My guess is that she was watching over her "family" and the likeness of Elena, is because Isobel is her relative obviously.

So now Katherine is going to send in Isobel to protect Elena. She is in danger from her uncle.

And why would they take Elena in the first place? They must have known the connection somehow.

Anyway, that is my shot in the dark. I have not read VD. It will be interesting to see the direction it takes.

A lot of possible outcomes. Makes it really fun to watch.

i just finished reading THE RETURN NIGHTFALL which is the third set of the VD series and the books are nothing like the show. I really love the show and the first 2 series books were okay but this third one was really weird, couldnt get into it at all, but since i've read all of them i guess i'll have to read the last series set.

I've been trying to figure him out too.

First, he's knows Isobel who is the teachers wife and Elena's mother;

Second, he knows about the Vampires and last night Damon and Allaric found out that he was helping one.........at first I thought Uncle John might be a Vampire too but he can't be - Stephan and Damon would know just be looking at him.

Then I thought he's got to be Elena's father - would make sense since he knows Isobel and she's originally from Mystic Falls or around there.

Last night Uncle John killed Pearl and then got on the phone with the Sherriff to give her an update on the Vampires (we will see more of that next week).......and the weird confrontation he had with Elena in the hallway saying "what would your Mother think of you dating a Vampire?" By the way, loved her answer: which mother??

Love the show and I can't wait for Isobel to turn up next week - that should be interesting.

I too am reading the VD books and I agree they are nothing like the series; series is much better.

I agree with everyone that the series is soooo much better than the books. I have read the first two and just can not seem to get into the third one to finish it.

I also have a strong feeling that the last two episodes will leave us with more questions than answers at this point and that is just fine with me. I like how unpredictable this show is and how you never really know what is going to come next.

I hate that they killed of Pearl. I wanted more interaction with her and some of the other characters.

I read the books before the series started, and that's why I got excited for the series, so that's why I started watching it. I agree, I never felt this much surprise and "OMG WHAT?" when reading the book. It just doesn't compare. That's why I always get a laugh when people say "I haven't read the books yet, but now that this series is turning out to be awesome, I have to check it out!" :rotfl2: It's so funny because the books are NOTHING like the TV show! I mean, the basic parts are there, but after the 3 episode of the series, it went all on its own. It's a good series though, and I love it SO much, so I can't help but go gaga over it every week.

and I wanted Pearl to stay too. She had a certain something about her, like a certain charm. I do however wonder if Anna is going to stay now because her mother is dead. She may have been the reason why she decided to go in the first place, instead of staying with Jeremy. However, I wonder if she'll take the risk of staying despite what her mom said to her "It's too dangerous here, and I'm doing this to protect you." :confused3

So just gotta say tonight's epsiode was soooo good.

I am glad that I was right about who Elena's father is. It just makes everything that much more complex.

I am both sad and excited for next week's finale. I want to see what happens but hate that it is the last new episode until the fall.

Very good!

No surprises though other than Damon looks hotter every episode.

Happy to see Stephan is back to normal, that storyline was silly.

Isobel.....what to say. Mr. Teacher was a jerk to her. I mean he claimed to be looking for her and then he disses her squarely in the face. Weird. That doesn't mesh well for me as far as plot.:confused3

Glad to see the witch and duh of course she is going to lie to the vamps. Damon knows she is full of it.

Why does Katherine want everyone dead? That is really the interesting storyline here. She has a "hit list" for Gilbert to carry out.

I agree except for the Isobel part. I didn't find her likable at all. I was scared she was going to kill Alaric in the end.

I love this show!

I agree.....she was evil, but then I'm not sure since she wants to protect Elena.

Really? I thought that was made clear with the conversation with Gilbert. She wants the Salvatore brothers dead so Elena is not doomed to become a vamp.

I think she was just playing it up so Elena sees the evil of becoming a vamp.

Anyway, my guess is Katherine is going to get wind of Isobel's decision to axe the brothers and feel her wrath. Sounds like she had strict orders to give to Gilbert and adding to them on her own is not going to bode well for Isobel.

Anyway as a vamp junkie, they always protect their offspring (vamp 101). So I cannot see Isobel killing Gilbert or Elena. And since Elena is part of Katherine, she will leave Gilbert alone as well.

A new Vampire Diaries convert was made last night... with only one episode left. My DH came home when I was watching it and he asked if it was taped so he could watch it from the beginning. I'll have to look to see how many episodes are onDemand so he can watch more.

I like Elena so much more with Damon. He's got spice. Stephan broods too much. I can't wait to see what happens with Jeremy since he's being let into everyone's secrets now.

I just finished downloading the entire season from iTunes. I am ADDICTED to this show! I hate everything Twilight, but Vampire Diaries and True Blood, I can't get enough of!

I liked the scene where Isobel said that Damon was in love with Elena. Awkward moment for him. One thing I don't understand is how Isobel and Elena are direct descendants of Katherine. I thought vampires couldn't get pregnant, so I'm wondering if Katherine had a baby as a young teenager, before she met the Salvatore brothers.

It's nice that the writers don't drag out every dramatic moment. On a lot of shows, we would have had to wait until next season to find out Isobel's story. I don't understand why Katherine wants the vampires from the tomb to die. I would assume that she was friends with some of them. She and Pearl were definitely friends and yet John was told to kill Pearl on Katherine's orders.

Ok, they are taking a page out of Anne Rice with that storyline. OK, they are ripping off a lot out of Anne Rice but whatever.....it is the bible of vamp lineage.;)

A vampire will trace/keep tabs on ALL of their bloodline/family tree, esp. a boss vamp. They are like the keepers of the coven so to speak. They do this because all of their bloodline is "marked" and a threat to them because it is their human link to the outside world, a major weakness for them. It keeps them "sane" and modern, if that makes sense. If you have to live 1000yrs you need to keep yourself current or you will go mad.

Now not every vamp does this but VD is leaning heavily on lineage.

So Elena could be linked with anyone in Katherine's family tree. It may not be "direct" however for the purposes of the show, I am sure it is going to end up to be a direct descendant, meaning Katherine had a baby before she was turned. We will see.....that is the million dollar question. If Elena finds out how she is linked it may give her an upper hand or mark her for death.

Thanks, Mystery Machine. I wasn't aware of the vampire connection/interest in relatives.
