Hello. Looking to go on our first Disney Cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale with our 5yo daughter in the next 5 months. Wow they are expensive. Looking for some opinions/feedback on how to obtain discounts, reduced pricing on the cruise package if it even exist. Thank you very very much. Appreciate the help.

We like to book with Costco. They will give you a rebate of around 8% of cruise fare not including tax or port fees. If you are an executive member you will get the additional 2% with that yearly rebate. We always book opening day which usually has the best prices or finding a gty rate where you cannot pick your room. We always make sure to make an onboard booking when we are on the ship to save 10% on another cruise within 2 years. Also, being flexible with dates can really help. We went to Alaska last September on DCL and it was about half the price of the other months.

Out of Ft. Lauderdale, the Dream will typically be cheaper (per day) than the Destiny. Also, make sure you have activated any current promotions when looking at the pricing (plan a cruise -> special offers then select one that you qualify for).

Usually, opening day prices are the lowest. As the cruise cabins sell, the prices go up. If it's getting close to the cruise departure and they have lots of cabins available, they will offer discounts. Most of the time, the discounted rates are still higher than opening day rates.

Getting a TA who specializes in Disney is a great idea. They will keep an eye out for lower rates after you're booked.

Others have mentioned the Dream. However the Dream is leaving Fort Lauderdale end of April back in October. That leaves only the Destiny which is literally a brand new ship. New ships always have the highest pricing. Additionally the summer months are the most pricey time for cruises ( spring break as well ). Your better bet is Port Canaveral and look for the special offer sections. The Disney Fantasy has reduced rates through the end of April listed now. May should be released soon. Any discounts for June or July most likely won’t be for another month or so.
With the discounts mentioned you pick the category of room and DCL selects the actual room. For example we are looking at an Early May Fantasy cruise 4 nights. Looking at end of April cost as a comparison.
The May cost for 2 x Oceanview staterooms ( 2 people in one 3 in the second) is $5965
Looking at the projected same rate from end of April Guaranteed rate brings it down to $4,933.

So it used to be opening per day prices were the best, but that's no longer the case with most sailings. Since DCL has been struggling to fill, they have been rolling out more and more discounts.

A good travel agent it will help you find them, but if you don't care where you are on the ship (And unless you suffer from motion sickness, it really does not matter much) I suggest looking at the mouse saver sites to get an idea of some of the pricing offered for the restricted fares where you let DCL assign your room

I will be on the Fantasy on March 1st. :tigger:
Can someone please tell me what movies were showing? Are they specific to each ship?
Anxiouspirate:
Basically anything that has been showing in theaters for the last 6+ months that has been made by Disney, Marvel, Pixar, or Star Wars is going to be shown

Depending on your sailing, it's probably going to be hoppers, Fantastic four, tron ares, Zootopia 2, Avatar 3 And expect some Elio, and even possibly thunderbolts mixed in occasionally

You can certainly save money with restricted fares, but they come with a cost: in addition to losing the ability to select a room, you must make full payment when you book. For most cruises, you pay a 10% or 20% refundable deposit when you book and do not need to make the full payment until 90 days in advance for a shorter cruise or 120 days in advance for a longer cruise.

Sometimes Disney introduces deals that are not restricted and can be applied to existing bookings. A travel agent or travel website will help you watch for those deals.

The only discounts or special pricing is the same as DCL offers; unlike some other cruise lines you won’t find third-party offering special deals. DCL special offers are shown on the website, generally for cruises within 90 days or sooner. Watch the restrictions and you must pay in full for these offers.

If you are looking into the future, lowest prices under regular deposit/payment rules will be “opening day” or basically the further out you book.

A travel agent may offer onboard credit or other perk(s). Be aware that when booking with a TA they “own” the reservation and payments and changes must go through them.

Also use discounted Disney gift cards to pay for the cruise. At worst, it saves you 5% if you use your Target RedCard to buy them which adds up on a big purchase like a cruise.
And once onboard, you can put down a $250 refundable deposit that gets you 10% off your next cruise sometime in the next 2 years
