The Updated and All-Inclusive Costume Thread

I honestly thing this is what has put me off. LOL!
It definitely annoys me when I see the "unboxing" reels from random accounts where they all make the same "oh my goooood" faces while holding up each item and feeling the fabric like they're a host on QVC. But then again if Crowned gave me free stuff I might do the same reels, too. :D

Okay my Dopey outfit is coming together...
(I already owned the visor from years ago, and bought the skirts months ago used.) So the only thing left I needed to get was the shirt.
I just got the shirt on etsy... I wanted something Dopey themed and was celebrating me turning 40 since this is my 40th birthday present. What I really like about this shirt it is a tech shirt. I spent a lot of extra time on etsy trying to find people who use tech shirts not just cotton shirts. Also love that I could request it being sparkly ✨

@DisneyMountainWoman You look so cute! Now you just need Dopey colored shoes. :D

Update on my Crowned order: My return got processed almost immediately and I had no issues even though I already took the tags off (I included them in the package).

Tbd on if I'm ordering any of the Encanto stuff. I'm not a huge fan of the movie but I love the blue color of the Luisa collection and it would match my Captain Marvel shorts.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s not a fan of the movie. Do you know how long it took me to realize this was for Encanto and not Charmed the TV show? I was very confused…

Tip of the day: if you’re getting stuff from JoAnn and you know what you need, order it online (or through the app) and pick it up. I got sequin fabric to make a sparkle skirt for our assistant XC coach* for $3.99/yard instead of 12.99 or whatever the regular price is, AND I got 20% off that for doing a pickup order AND when you do a pickup order you get an email pretty much right away for $5 or a purchase of $10 or more in your email (must be used the same day.) So. If you know what fabric you need and it’s at least 2 yards, check online and then use that coupon at pickup for all the thread or elastic that you might need.

*Assistant coach bet the boys team that he would run the post-regional open meet if they won conference, and I got him to up the ante to do it in a sparkle skirt if they swept the conference meets, which they did. I now have 3 days to sew this skirt since I tried to find a used one and save myself all the cursing at the knit fabric and hunching over the kitchen table while trying to keep DD out of all of the moving parts.

I'm doing the Halloween night party and the W&D 5K this week! The more I thought about it, the less I wanted to be in my Miss Piggy/HM Tightrope Walker costume for 12+ hours, so I cheated and picked up a store-bought costume for MNSSHP. I was at Spirit Halloween and this just spoke to me. I am debating chopping off the sleeves...

It doesn't come with the tights, so I bought some green ones and some spiderweb fishnets to go over those. I'll make a game time decision on whether to wear them. Not sure shoes yet but probably just sneakers or sandals. The hood doesn't stand up very well, so I'm going to look for some OB or Nightmare ears to wear and hold it up a bit. If I don't find those, I have some plain black Mickey ears that would work. Or I could stuff the end of the hood with some plastic or batting? I considered adding a wig, but that will definitely be too hot!

I'll be doing a test run this week of the Miss Piggy mashup, so pics to come. Though I've worn the bulk of the costume before, I need to make sure the additional accessory pieces will work.

We finished our costumes and just wrapped up our trip to Disney for MNSSHP. In all it took us 7 months and 750 hrs of work. But we're so proud of the final outcome. We're Anne, Darcy, and Sprig from Amphibia. G's costume has >3100 LEDs and mine had 3 LCD programmed eyes.

Dude! Very impressive!
<golf clap>

Update! Refreshed their page (again) and the listing is updated with what I assume is a pic of the actual skirt. And I don’t love it in this version (with the much larger banners), compared to the concept art. Womp womp. Now I have 2 months for figure out my marathon clothing. Again.

Anyone have experience with Sparkle Athletic and their limited edition skirts? The one I'm wanting to get (because I want to try to color-match and HTV a top to go with it) has said "coming soon" for months, and the estimated delivery was mid-October. And now here we are *checks calendar* almost 1/3 of the way through November. Are lags like this normal? Is this a "we have a small staff and just got back from W&D" thing?

ALSO

Has anyone ran in, or ever purchased a champro poly shirt? It's just for the 10k, and I'd rather spend $9 on a shirt+HTV than $25 for the shirt+HTV.

You could probably make something similar yourself (she says as a bad influence). And if you already have a Dottie at home, it'd be even better since you can "study" how they're made.
You have so much faith in me! :cheer2:

I could. I'd just need a serger (our library does not keep any crafting stuff), a better spot to sew than my kitchen table, and fulltime childcare because trying to sew while your 5yo hits your arm and yells "MOM" all while trying to crawl onto your lap is not fun. I made "rice socks" (basically little heat packs filled with uncooked rice) yesterday and even that was an ordeal with her. Sewing takes so long I'm generally OK with just buying stuff at this point. Simple stuff? No problem. Trying to figure out how to put a satin bias tape over elastic and 3 other layers for a waistband? Not fun.
