The Updated and All-Inclusive Costume Thread

Remember, like 5 minutes ago when I kinda dissed the whole Crowned Athletics brand and their fans? Welllllll I'm a total hypocrite who bowed to IG pressure last night and bought the Merida-inspired sports bra and skort. 🙄 🤬 I justified it by not having decided on my MW 5K costume yet, and having lots of Merida accessories (and a wig, if I so decide). ::sigh:: I just hope I chose the right sizes!

It's super cute stuff. And their recent releases haven't been selling out in 3 seconds lately, so hopefully you can exchange sizes if needed.

I hope it works out for you. I bought my first pair of shorts this summer from the epcot collection. They're fine but I still prefer my janji. The inner seams bother my thighs a bit but the bigger issue I have is that they are EXTREMELY high waisted. I'm on the shorter side so I'm sure that doesn't help. When I wore them for my long run last week, I couldn't access the pockets without removing my hydration belt. It was such a hassle. They've been relegated to shorter runs.

ETA - I think the skorts are less high waisted so that should work in your favor.

This is REALLY good to know! I don't mind if its a bit high waisted as I don't really want a huge gap between that and the sports bra. And now I know not to fall in love with any shorts! But I may already be stalking resale groups for the Force Fighter sports bra in (what I think is) my size. SMH

I know in the original CA fb group (that allowed bst at the time and has since been shut down because it was a CA-ran group) had a good number of posters that would do pics of the sports bra fit for the less common proportions (small band/larger cup or larger band/smaller cup) so you could get a sense of things in the different cuts. Might be worth a search, because the support level spectrum among the sports bras is pretty large. I believe Merida is one of the most supportive, but I'm not sure about FF.

There is a chart on their sizing page that shows the support level, and yes, the Merida one is in the highest group. This is also why I'm planning to try it for the 5K! But if I have to, I can wear something under it or use it for park days or non-running workouts.

🤣 I also fell to the Crowned sale this week! I don't like super tight fitting things so most of their stuff isn't appealing to me but I do like the flow tanks, so I grabbed a couple of those and a jacket. I'm glad they seem to have more in stock these days so exchanges are maybe actually possible now!

Aw, bummer. I never wear a belt so I guess that’s why I never have a problem with it being high waisted. But they do move more than the Janji, so I’ll keep Janji for anything longer than a half.

I’m not a huge fan of Brave, but I do love the color of those skorts and bras.

I’m the opposite. I love Brave and only have the flow tank. I always figure I was exactly like Merida when I was 16… my poor mother 😂

I'm tempted by the athletic shrugs, and I am definitely a jewel tone person, but I don't love that they are all shiny.

Has anyone used Sparkle Athletic visors? I’m looking at their Minnie Mouse pattern for the marathon but am not sure how sweat absorbent they are. Or does anyone have a good visor rec with Disney patterns? I usually use the Gone for a Run visors @Naomeri recommended and will use plain black if I can’t find any other options.

I use them! I have found them quite sweat absorbent. I do find the pattern visits fit more snug than the sparkle visors but they work quite well.

I use them. They are made from Headsweats visors. I usually wear a Bondi Band underneath it, just because I always do. I think they (one or the other) absorbs sweat enough or I don’t have any issues with them and I really like them.
