Does anyone have a favorite vendor for iron in transfers??

I’ve got an idea to do a shirt themed around the carousel of progress - but can’t seem to find anyone selling an athletic shirt with the song lyric on it! Thinking an iron transfer might work, but also can’t seem to find someone on Etsy who does that either?

Ask your local friends if they have a cricut! More people have them than you’d think One of my XC mom-friends did my marathon shirt for me and all I had to do was buy the vinyl and the font file off Etsy!

Also some libraries have them for people to use as well. The one I work at does, but you need to provide your own vinyl.

1st option with skirt. Postive: small tail, cannot feel at all while running. Negative: sparkle skirt is see through so need to tuck in shirt which is annoying.


Or option 2: No skirt Postives: no tucking in shirt and tail is super cute. Negatives: Tail could be super annoying, I have it on the belt so in shorter runs has not annoyed me yet.


So would loove your thoughts on which option u like the best. I am really having trouble deciding.

Also if u have any other thoughts let me know. Thanks!

I like both of them, but if you can tolerate the no skirt tail for a whole marathon, it's probably my choice if you made me choose.

I'm toying with the idea of Maui for the Princess 2023 HM. I'm thinking of making a singlet to resemble Maui's tattoos. Thoughts on this as the center piece of the back design? I figured post-movie Maui would get a tattoo in remembrance of his victory with Moana. I was going for hard angry lines for Ta Ka (cloudy sky, rough waters, aggressive stance) and an organic flowy feeling for Te Fiti (flowery, softer lines, welcoming position, calm seas, happy sun, birds flying around). Maui and Moana stuck in the middle as they make things right. I just drew it up in Adobe Illustrator using some images from the movie as my guide.

I really like the no skirt option. The skirt distracts from the leggings a bit which is a shame because those look amazing!

Ultimately, go with whichever is most comfortable

@DisneyMountainWoman I agree with GollyGadget : the no skirt is cute with those awesome leggings, but go with the most comfortable for those 26.2 miles

WOW, Billy, this is so cool. I love the story behind it and would never guess it wasn't right from the movie somewhere.

After two days of fighting with my heat press, the graphics are all applied to the backs of my shirts. AND I finally got to test all my Marathon costume pieces together with all the layers. I'm definitely going to need to line them up in order to get them on right, but the good news is, I'm not dying of heat stroke with it all on and nothing really moves around during run/walk intervals. YAY!

Here's how I'll start, as Disgust/Minnie:


I ended up using a white shirt for the graphics since I was doing infusible ink and not vinyl. I like how this turned out!



The "problem" is that I really love the bits I will need to discard (especially the wig), so I'm debating whether to make the switch at the Contemporary, where DH will be, if I want to make him navigate Main Street for the hand-off, or if I want to carry a grocery bag and dump it all off to him at GF. Still considering.

Once I do change, here's Joy/Mickey. I'm getting a fresh application of blue on my hair on Tuesday so it'll be BRIGHT for the Marathon!:


The back didn't cooperate as well with the colors melding into the green/yellow a bit, so I ended up doing a few additional layers and got a bit of ghosting, but it isn't super noticeable (so says DH -- he may just be tired of me cursing at the heat press):


I have one last test run to do with all the Sadness/Dale bits, but I'm nearly ready to pack it all up! As always, comments, questions and suggestions are WELCOME.

Thanks! In bits and pieces most everything is. Just not laid out in the manner in which I put those bits and pieces together. I took inspiration from unrelated scenes to get the artistic styling of different objects and how they would be interpreted as tattoos on Maui. For the life of me though, I just can’t get Te Fiti’s face to look any good. That’s why I ended up just completely blacking it out for now. Spent several hours on that alone.

So I spent several hours looking for something, but never found anything satisfactory. I ended up deciding on designing my own and came up with a cherry blossom design on a wine red background. I made the flowers in adobe illustrator. I was close to finishing the design, and then my wife threw out the idea of doing a Maui tattoo design. So I went from having nothing to now having two designs. I may end up just getting both, and wear the cherry blossom for the 10k, wash the shorts, and wear Maui for the HM. The cherry blossom one is further along in development.

This is SO nice! I like the idea of wearing this for the 10K and Maui for the half so you can use both. Or, if you have more patience than me, save it for another race/year.

Anybody with more Cricut experience than me who can answer a question? Because I have a whole 2.5 days before getting on a plane I've decided I may want to customize my shoes. Yes, the fight over the shirt designs wasn't enough, apparently. smh

I'm taking two pairs of the same style shoe and will swap back and forth for each race during Dopey. I'd like to put something in the area on the back where the skyline is on these, and possibly the side sole (though there's significant texture there.)



I have a Cricut Maker and was thinking of using removable vinyl to swap out the design for each race, but could do something permanent if that's an easier option. I have HTV and permanent vinyl on hand. I have a heat press but not a mini, so will be using a household iron to apply, if that matters.

I've used HTV and infusible ink on fabrics and vinyl on signs, but never worked with this material and am having a hard time finding info on customizing shoes that isn't just putting the design on cheap canvas. Help! Please and thank you!

Thanks! They are New Balance FuelCell Elite v2. I wore them for training and all four races last year (not these exact pairs) and absolutely LOVE them. I did not and have not run NYC but that style went on sale so I bought them for training and am realizing they will match well for the 10K and full.

I DID figure out the Cricut thing on my own through trial and error. Because the side soles are foam, no go on any heat process. Permanent vinyl sticks really well, so I cut some colorful Mickey heads to scatter around the whole shoe. For the back, I'm using removable vinyl in white (b/c that's the only white I have) and am putting full color clear print stickers over the top for the back of the shoe design. That way I can just peel off the removable vinyl for each race and the back can be different. The design kinda matches the back of my shirt. I'll post once I've done a successful test!

Testing my solution now with one shoe from each pair. The pink ones don't have the hard panel on the back.





I'm sure very few people will even notice, but they'll make fun photos and a nice little bonus for those who do.
