The Unofficial STROLLER Thread

what websites for strollers have you found reputable? I was looking to buy a Maclaran Volo on Strollers.com and there was even free shipping. I wanted to see if anyone has ordered from there before or if anyone can recommend a good company that might offer free shipping?

I ordered a Maclaren Volo Ctroller in Carbon from target.com for $99 and free shipping.

My question to family Disney veterans is is the Stroller worth the hassel? I have a Bell jogger and a 3.5 yr old boy. He has not ridden in any stroller in almost 2 years. He hates sitting when he can run, he is all boy. We are very active and go all over the place. That being said I know how very much walking there will be at Disney. I'm just not sure he would ever sit in the stroller. I'd hate to get down there and not have something, but I dread dragging it all around and never using it too. I also would hate paying the outrageous stroller rental fees. Any advice?

I don't think I would consider myself a veteran, but I can let you know about my experience. We just returned from a week long trip w/ my DSs (5 y/o and 13 mos), my best friend and her family went with us, and her DS is 4 1/2. Both the 4 and 5 y/o walk everywhere and are seldom in a stroller for any reason, but we opted to bring strollers w/ us. I had a double jogging stroller since I have 2 kids, and she brought her Graco stroller for her son. We were both surprised at how much time the 4 and 5 y/o spent in the stroller! The heat and the amount of time they are on their feet is more than they are used to or able to handle, we were SOOOO glad we had our strollers. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

I think my jogger might be too big and umbrella strollers are always way to short handled. I think I might ask around and see what friends can lend me. I just hate to spend money on a stroller only to be used at WDW. I'd rather spend the money on fun stuff at the parks.

we LOVE our wendy bellisimo umbrella stroller.. It completely reclines, is super comfortable (my daughter who never sleeps has fallen asleep in it!), and it has super tall handles (my dh is 6'3). It has all the bells and whistles of the mclaren but much cheaper. We got it from babies 'r' us.

sorry, I am in charge of our family's grand gathering and I am having a difficult time finding the answer to this easy question--I hope someone can help.
If I rent a stroller in one park and hop to another park, can I just show my receipt for a stroller (like in Disneyland) or do I have to pay again?
thanks so much in advance--
:confused3

God Provides (even for Disney).
Ok so I was stressing over the stroller thing & mentioned it to my neighbor down the road. She was like "we just got back from Disney a month ago and bought an awesome stroller to use there, perfect for the parks. You are more than welcome to borrow it." Awesome news. I'm not even sure what kind it is but they are very picky people and if it worked for them it will be great for my crazy non-stroller riding 3 yr old boy! Now even more money for fun Disney trinkets. Yeah!

I'm not sure where you are located, but perhaps you could look at craigslist.org for a used stroller. I purchased a used babytrend trendsport Lite for $25. It is a lightweight stroller with a small fold but some of the features of a mid sized stroller. This is by no means a highend stroller, but fits what I was looking for a what I was willing to spend to use it for this trip only. I am planning on re-selling it on craigslist when we return.

I know they are expensive...but the Phil & Teds Sports Buggy double stroller is GREAT. The 2nd child rides "under" - so easy to push and maneuver around. We got the single Phil & Teds and the place we bought it from gave us the double attachment free. I use it with my girlfriends son when we go shopping! You may be able to find one on ebay for cheaper....they just came out with a new 2008 version, so they older ones may be a lot cheaper. Here is a pic....

As I know my daughter will want to be carried at the end of the day (or sooner in the heat), I decided to try to find a stroller to bring with us on the trip to WDW in the end of August. The problem is that when we did a little fact finding mission at BRU, the Volos (my first choice) were too short - her head could flop backwards over the seat back. Other strollers with over 50lb limits were simlar except the Wendy B model. She seemed to have a little more space. I can't bring myself to spend $99 + on something just for WDW. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Lynn

Thank you for this review! This is the one I have finally decided on for our (hopefully) soon to be adopted daughter. Glad to read another satisfied report.

Macleren Quest users... HELP! I got one used at Salvation Army for $20 and I really need to clean it. I got the whole seat off..can I put it in the washer? or should I just try to wash it by hand? It needs a good cleaning!

TIA!

:woohoo: Great news, Sis -- I can't believe this didn't warrant a phone call! :) xx oo

I took our seat off laid it down, wet it with the hose, sprayed water-downed washing machine soap on it and scubbed it with a stiff brush. I then hosed it down again and let it dry in the sun. I power washed the entire frame and hung it upside in the sun to dry and then rotated it one more time to make sure there was no water left in it. Put the seat back on and it looks great.

I love, love, love my Phil & Teds. My question is have you (or anyone else who cares to reply) taken it to WDW? I'm trying to decide between taking the P&T or buying another Volo and clipping two Volos together. My concerns with the P&T are folding it for transport, flying with it, and having it sit unattended (I know everyone says strollers don't get taken, but it is a rather pricey stroller and I would be sick if it disappeared). My concerns with the two Volo system is, well...it's not my P&T. Ideas anyone?

We used our P & T at Disney last June and have decided to go with 2 umbrella's for this year. This is our reasoning......We have a 5 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. Our 2 1/2 year old is to the point now that is a little more difficult getting him in and out of the underneath which is not to great for Disney since they are in and out alot. Also, the 5 year old wants to pop out alot which leaves the 2 year old underneath and ready to tip backwards at any moment (this has happened before). Lastly, for the parades it would not be easy for the 2 year old to watch from his seat. All of that said we do love our P & T for daily use at the mall and walks in the neighborhood. It is a really nice ride for them.

Hope that helps!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. Our kids are almost 5 and 2, and am wondering which stroller to bring...Phil and TEd's E3 or 2 Maclaren Triumphs.

I'm thinking that the Mac's would be good cause they're so lightweight, great for the airports and if we're doing something where my 5yo won't need the stroller we can just leave one of them in the room.

On the other hand, the E3 is such a comfortable stroller for them...except if the 2yo needs a nap in the 2nd seat (which doesn't recline). He can sleep there, but since we don't go back to our hotel for naps I need him to be comfortable for the 2.5 hours he sleeps in the stroller. The other negative is that I hate flying with this stroller - it's such a pain!

What would you guys do? Thanks in advance! :)

I just sent this to someone else:

We also like the option of being able to leave a stroller behind if the 5 year old isn't needing it. The P & T took up alot of room getting on and off the buses and that was another deciding factor for us.

I know I said in an earlier post that I was buying the Zooper Twist...but I'm really having second thoughts and seriously looking at the Joovy Kooper. Anyone have the Kooper...thoughts? Also, the Mia Moda Cielo Evolution. Ugh...I cannot choose!!!!
