Hi guys,

Just wondering if this book is worth buying? I feel that I know a lot about the parks but I would like some bedtime reading (for when I'm not on here :lmao:). If anyone has read it, please let me know what you think!

By the way, I'm aware that this book has probably been discussed before- I did do a search, to no avail!

Yes great book and buy one each year when we visit :) It gives the low down on all the rides, resorts and restaurants.

Claire ;)

This is my favourite guide, and definitely worth it! It has reviews of every restaurant and resort in Disney, as well as a lot of information on the other parks in Orlando. The touring plans are also quite useful apparently, though I prefer to follow my own plan really :) You also get access to the Touring Plans site which is pretty handy too, So in short, buy it!! :goodvibes

I think it is a good book too, I have a copy! I don't follow the touring plans in it though, none of them suit my likes really. But the info in the book is good.

I haven't read one in years; however, this is THE book I recommend for all newbies. I just tell them "Read the book and then we'll talk".

Very good reference book, but, for me, not one to read cover to cover. There's just too much detailfor that. Great for dipping in and out of.

The Brit's Guide is very good, if you need a less-detailed one.

Yep great book - i have bought one for each trip. there are sections that might not apply - we didn't have kids so didn't read the "touring with kids" bit but now we do so shall pick that bit up again. it is quite military thou in it's touring assuming that you visit high season and want to pack as much in as possible but does give great ideas and tips, well worth it. no pictures which is a shame, apart from the odd scrawly cartoon, but i guess thats disney copyright for you, just use your imagination :goodvibes

I like the irreverent tone of this guide, and I agree that there is so much information in there that it's great for dipping in and out, rather than trying to read from cover to cover.

My small claim to fame is a quote from me that's been in a few editions ;) (hope this link works ... )

Which page is the quote on in the 2009 edition?

Claire ;)

I'm ashamed to say I don't have a 2009 edition :rolleyes1, but it's usually at the beginning of a chapter called something like "Before you go" or "Planning your trip" near the beginning of the book - before any of the detailed park information.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I have now placed my order so hopefully it will be with me soon.

I'm not a newbie but DBF is- I will fling this book in his general direction on the flight. It should keep him quiet for a while... :rolleyes1

Another :thumbsup2 from me. I buy it every year we go.

When are you going? The 2010 edition will be released on the 9th September so if your trip is after that you should wait and buy it, then you'll get the most up to date information.

Thanks- I know about the new edition but I go on September 11th, which is cutting it a bit fine. The 2009 version should be ok! :)

Well Hilary, colour me well-and-truly impressed :thumbsup2

Great that you have ordered:thumbsup2

I had the 2007 one when I was pregnant with DS and I didn't think we would be going until 2010. I used it to console myself! :lmao: Little did I know that by the time 2010 arrives DS will have been 3 times! Oh the addiction......;)
