The Unofficial Golf at Disney FAQ Thread

i played in june last year and the carts were ordinary carts with gps. nothing disney about them. maybe something has changed

So I was looking Into getting the water park addition to our tickets and I see It says you get rounds of golf at Oak trail. So how Is the golf there,I know Its a 9 hole but Is It normal yardage or Is It all par 3's?. Is It worth even playing?. If so will the taxi take you there and back at Disney expence?. I am still going to play a couple of rounds but maybe not three like I said If Its a decent 9 hole.

This is a great thread. We heard that the golf carts on Disney courses are 'very Disney'. Does anyone have pictures of them? Would like to see if and how they are special.

thanx
I think this is what you mean but this is just on display. Its not a cart that you can ride in.

My husband and son played Oak Trail - they liked it a lot. It is a mix of par 3 and par 4, they think there might even be a par 5. They say it was a really nice course, very pretty, well groomed and to quote my son "well animalized". They saw alligators, deer, snakes, turkeys, armadillo and some other wildlife. The only down side is that it is a walking course, no carts.

i'm pretty sure Oak Trail does have pull carts though if you wanted to use one. haven't played there, but i'm thinking i read it. i'm sure it's on the FAQ mentioned previously on here.

Just called to book some tee times for my trip in April/May. Planned to buy the DVC membership but due to a HUGE (pretty much double) increase in prices I will not be purchasing a DVC Membership or playing as much as I had planned....I'm very upset as I love playing at Disney and thought that the DVC Membership would be great! :o( :o(

Thanks agoofybeast and thebells_dallas. LBV it will be then! There's a chance I might be able to play it this August, right after the kids go back to school.

Did the DVC change Gooftroop? It has always been $50 for the DVC membership and then you get dicounted rates that were generally $89 from Jan to May, $39 from May to September, and $59 September to December! It has been like this for YEARS and will be disappointed if it changed. I know you were talking about April so maybe that is why you think prices are pretty high, but the DVC prices have been the same for quite a while. Anyone have any information?

When I spoke to the Master Starter last week he said that all prices increased on Jan15th. I have one tee time the very end of April and one tee time on May 2nd. He said both times would cost me the $50 membership plus the green's fees which would be $104 before 10AM and $89 after 10am. When I looked on the DVC Members site it said that Value Season Rounds Apr 26, 2009 - Sept 30, 2009 $59 (before 10am) $39 (after 10am). So in essence they have doubled the price. I was soooooo looking forward to playing all four courses while there end of April/beginning of May. Right now I have times booked for Palm and Osprey Ridge.

I would make sure to call back GoofTroop! I went last year about the SAME exact time and was told the SAME thing. For some reason the Value Season Rounds weren't in there computer system as of the 90 day mark when I wanted to book tee-times! They let me book the tee-times that I wanted and then I was able to call back a few weeks later and they adjusted the price once the Value Season Rates were in the system. The rates that they have in the system now are the PEAK rates that run Jan through April. So I wouldn't be surprised if they have the same problem this year! I'm planning on heading down about the same time and I'm using last years dates as a guide which means anytime after like April 27th should be Value.

Thanks Simba....We arrive no April 27th. My plan was to play the Palm on the 29th, Osprey Ridge the 30th, possible LBV on May 1st and play Magnolia on May3rd. I wanted to play all 4 because the rates were so good....

Thanks for the info though...I'll be sure to call back in a few weeks....Hopefully it's the same thing that happened to you last year.

So with the magic your way plus water park option,it says i get a round at the Oak trail. So we got a 10 day package along with my DS.
So my question 1- would I only get the one round? and If not how many rounds would I get with 10 days,2- So my dS Is 17,but he does not play golf can I use his round or rounds?.
I plan on playing two rounds beside these at LBV and Magnioila but I can not make my tee times until April since we are going to be there from the 3rd of July to the 13th.

I called back today...The Master Started said the rates for DVC Members are: $83 after 10am and $104 before 10am....

Still disappointed with the rates...however if you're a resort guest (we're not staying DVC this time) you can play 2 rounds for $195 dollars no matter what time you play. I prefer to play early in the AM so this deal works well for me. I have booked Osprey Ridge and the Palm but I think I'm going to change OR for the Magnolia.....

Has anyone tried to make a reso at the palm for the week of May 9-17???
I tried different times and dates but all that comes up is Magnolia or Osprey!!
Any ideas??

Maybe there reseeding the greens?,or doing some other maitence. The PGA usually comes through there In Oct/Nov so I do not think Its part of the tour, and even It was they would usually take up both Magnoila and palms.

I called as well regarding this and was told they aren't granting tee times as Disney has not finalized the rates after May 16....which is a little ridiculous.

I'm still very disappointed with the DVC rates! Was hoping to be able to golf a lot more than twice while there!

Even though it was June of last year, i'll give you fair warning that Osprey Ridge was in horrible shape. so horrible they gave me an $89 rain check to use when i was coming back, which ends up being April this year. he said it was good at any of the 4 courses. i was not impressed at all with the course. i was told it was the best at Disney and came no where near what i was expecting or hoping for. apparently they were arreating, and knew long in advance of course, but did not bother to warn me. the manager said they should have warned me and to ask any time i make tee times in the future. i would recommend LBV for sure, Magnolia for sure, and i'm playing The Palm for the first time in April.
