The Unofficial Golf at Disney FAQ Thread

I have never heard anything about free rental clubs. Everything I have read has them listed at $55 or $60. Where did you read/hear anything about free rental clubs?

I can't remember where I read it, but I called Disney Golf and asked if the free club rental included Swan and Dolphin. They do, and anyone staying at a Disney Resort and paying full price for golf. No free club rental if you are paying a discounted price. They also said there would be plenty of clubs available.

Just wondering if you guys have seen this: http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....&promotionCode=fy09golfmem&market=fy09golfmem
Its for July 3 to July 6 at
Disney's Osprey Ridge Golf Course
Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
Disney's Palm Golf Course
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Makes me think Disney is really feeling the effects of the economy.

Thanks for passing that along. I think Disney made a big mistake not bringing back the after 10am "Price Slice" this year especially. In years past, the rate dropped to $40-50 after 10am, yet this year they decide they can get $89:confused:

Sounds like with this offer, and the free club rental offer out there, that as you said Disney is really trying to generate some demand...

Help!! I just made a tee time online and now I am having a little panic attack. The tee time is for DH and my dad, but it is in my name. Is that going to cause any problems?? I didn't even think about it until the reservation was done. Tell me that I didn't screw it up.

No they will be fine they ask you If you want to charge It to the card on resvp. The can pay cash or pay with there cc:goodvibes

I googled disney golf free club rental and I found a message on magical kingdoms dot com. It didn't really have a lot of information though. That would be awesome if it all works out OK. I am just a little worried about getting all the way to Florida only to find out that there are no free rental clubs available. That would be an extra $110-$120 that none of us were planning on spending. Is anyone going in the next little while who could check this out for us?? Pretty please???

That is exactly why I called them. They assured me there would be plenty of clubs available. My dh and ds are taking their own, as they are using the 2 day discount. We have a hard case that holds many clubs and disney also has bags to lend free. Just remember that you have to be a resort guest and pay a non=discounted price. You can find their phone number on the golf website.

You can see it here: http://disney.go.com/inside/mainattraction/090616/index.html

Resort Guests enjoy special rates on the courses, and for the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010 they can take advantage of a very special offer. "Resort Guests can come in and pay our standard rate for Resort Guests, and we'll give them complimentary rental clubs and range balls. It's a big savings!" Kevin points out that "Most airlines charge a hefty fee if you bring your own golf clubs, plus you have to lug them around. Our rental clubs are top-of-the-line Titleist and Cobra rental clubs. You can just walk down, get a professional grade set of clubs, and turn them in when you're done, no charge!"

I would rather not play golf at all then play with some one elses clubs even for free:confused3. They seem like good clubs but I think for the amount of money we pay out I would rather use my owen.:goodvibes

I'm with you on that one. Of course, I have the luxury of putting my sticks in the trunk and driving an hour to Disney. I dont play a lot of golf when I travel, simply because I dont like to play with rental clubs. I never play as well, and then I feel like I wasted the day and the money.

How's that for a typical golfer excuse for poor play:rotfl:

DW, DS & DD and I are all playing in the Disney Family Golf Tournament on July 5th. Anyone else gonna be there?

Kids start Disney Golf Camp next week too by the way!

No but that sounds like a great time.:thumbsup2 My dad and I used to play in the Florida state Father/Son tournament at Disney every summer, and we have great memories from those trips.

...and it's good news for those who were going to rent clubs.

Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Guests staying at select resorts including the Walt Disney World® Resorts and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels may now enjoy complimentary golf club rental (a savings of approximately $55) with the purchase of a round of golf at rack rate. This promotional offer will be in effect through 12/31/2010 and applies only to guests purchasing non-discounted rounds of golf and staying at a Walt Disney World® Resort or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels. This offer is not available for tee times at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course.

This is a great up-sell tool for those resort guests who did not bring their own clubs and are thinking of booking the twilight rounds for savings. Now these guests will be able to book a more desirable tee time at a better rate because they will with save with the complimentary clubs offer.

Example: Tee times for a resort guest at rack rate with complimentary clubs would be $89.00 plus tax (no fee for club rental). Tee times for a resort guest at twilight rate paying for club rental would be $114.00 plus tax.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Have a magical day!

Sincerely,

Shirley Sydow

I agree with you guys. My DW told me about the free club rental. I told her that playing golf with someone else's clubs was like making love to another woman. It's just wrong.

Any updates on any specials in July - other than the free clubs.....????????

Other than that and the "2 round" offer thats about it. We are going down for a golf weekend in August, and its gonna cost us about $100 more per person this year vs last because of no more "Price Slice." Doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me in a down economy:confused3

Do you know If the two round offer extends Into Oct?,and If so how much. Thanks

It looks like the 2 round pass is semi-permanent in that under the rates section on the wdw site, it doesnt talk at all about limited dates. Just says that the rates, including 2 round pass, are valid until January 2010. The 2 round pass is $140 for resort guests, $180 non-resort...
