The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

I'm going to call the hotel tomorrow and have them figure out the total and go ahead and prepay on my credit card. Then I'll set up a spreadsheet outlining how many people each night, I will prorate it with the worst snorer paying a 10% higher rate, anybody that leaves dirty socks laying on the bedroom floor will be charged a 5% convenience fee, there will also be a $2 inconvenience fee for anybody that gets up in the middle of the night and flushes the toilet. Once I have entered all the data, I will divide it by the number of people per bed and multiply it by the total hotel rooms in the Anaheim Resort area. Any questions??:rotfl:

Wow - I am glad that I am responsible for my own accomodations. Good luck ladies - you will need it :lmao:

Dang...that reminds me, I still need to book something for Wednesday night, and should I book DH a massage??? Questions that hopefully I can sustain power long enough to answer. I am glad this trip is soon - I think I am going batty stuck here all week cooped up in the house with the kids and not working and refusing to add punctuation or make an additional sentence thus forcing a run on :faint:

Please let there be school Monday :faint:

DING DONG Anyone home?

Is that a trick question?

Alison - interesting that you said it sounded like an anxiety attack, that's what my personal trainer said too. hmm. I'm going to the doc next week, we'll see what he says. I haven't had any weird feelings in my chest since that night so hopefully it wasn't anything serious.

So I wanted to apply to HRM program here but I need either a degree first or take their access course. In order to take their access course I need management experience, which I don't have. So in order for me to take the course I want without getting a degree first I have to move back to Canada.

Dh doesn't want to move back to Canada, he hates the winters and he has a good thing going on at work. I feel bad but I also feel like it's my turn now, we moved to Scotland following his career and if we want to incomes I need to go back to school and I can't do that here. I suggested we move back for the two years I need to get my education and then we can move wherever he wants. He agrees but I still feel bad. Why does life suck sometimes?

Life just sucks sometimes, it's not fair, never has been, never will be.

That's good that you are going to the doctor next week. Hopefully it's nothing serious or anything to worry about. :grouphug: That sucks about the HRM program. :( What you said about you moving to Scotland for your DH, I agree with you. I know that relationships are a give and take and about compromise. Both need to meet at least somewhere in the middle (my bf and I are learning that and working on that). If he agrees and says he will move back to Canada for you then that's great. Don't feel bad, because this is something that you want and if it's something that will make you happy and it's how you feel. I'm sure your DH just wants you to be happy. Plus, it's not permanent since you said it would only be for 2 years. :)

Compromise and meet in the middle? I do believe that would be somewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean!:scared1::rotfl2:

Man 4 days of rain I love it :) just wish people knew how to drive and not be crazy driving in it :)

I can only dream of just 4 days rain. Four days rain is just a starter for us here!lol.

I just did my taxes. Whoo hoo, more Disneyland money! I e-filed my state and federal and opted for direct deposit so I hope it gets here soon.

I'm still waiting on the stupid railroad where DH worked for a short time last year to send his W-2.

Granted I see the sun (I think it is still there) but we are still being pummeled by snow :confused3

Well sheesh, what do you expect for $39 a night...accomodations at the Taj Mahal?:lmao: By the time we divide it up after adding taxes, resort taxes, tax for just being there, tax for being next to a restaurant, tax for having a taxable situation...well it oughta run about $12 a night for each of us.

It's all good - my room is free (well, technically considering I now have a small monthly "car" payment :rotfl2:) Gotta love the Disney math!!!:lmao:

I am standing in the pharmacy line at CVS. I have never seen it this long. There goes my lunch hour.

Lucky ducks those of you who have already filed, haven't got any W-2s yet! :headache:

I have no clue what our return (if any) will be this year, we settled two accounts for less than owed... counts as income... it may all be a big mess this year compared to the past.

Eloy's district is currently without a contract. Negotiations broke down before the deadline, the district had to pay a fine of $800,000 to the state for being past deadline.

District whines that "you just want more money"

Union/ teachers say "uhh no, just honor what was set forth in the original contract and stop freezing pay increases (steps and lanes) that were already earned." No one got a raise this year, even if they just achieved a masters or worked another year... they are paid the same as last year.

There was talk among the teachers that the district will stop paying for health insurance premiums if they have to pay for steps/ lanes. Scary thought for those who opted for family coverage.. full cost would be over $1200 a month (plus $2000 deductible per person). :faint:

I'm glad that we have disability to fall back on if this all goes sour. :guilty:

Happier news, he got a review and did very well. :goodvibes

And if the disability fails...you guys can move here. Heck the medical insurance is the reason my SIL went to work for the school district. They even have orthodontic coverage.

:cool1:Woohoo!! there is a table on the budget board that shows when your refund will be direct deposited, based on when you filed, and it was accepted. I was worried about ours being accepted.. We had one year where the IRS kept kicking it back and wouldnt accept it. Turns out Alex's SSN was wrong. With the babies, adn them having dif B-days.. I just didnt know what to expect!

They had orthodontic coverage in CA after you paid into dental for one year.

Our insurance is good.. We pay $230. per month for the family.. We have med. dental, and optical. Our deductible is $250..

Excellent!
That's cheaper than it was for me 10 years ago when I worked at Head Start. I think it was $400 a month, but no deductible and some minimal co -pays. It came out to be nearly one third of my pay at the time. :lmao: But the state considered it "cost effective" for eloy and gave me money back for part of the premium and picked up all his copays, meds (before Medicare Part D started and screwed it all up) and travel expenses (15 cents a mile for each doctor and dialysis visit). My sis has similar coverage for two of her boys due to special needs/ autism. And a waiver program that pays for things that insurance doesn't cover (therapy, braces, respite care).. but with budget crunch she is in danger of losing that extra money.. she's thinking of working but not sure it would be worth it (child care).

Eloy and I were just talking about me working or not working and needing insurance. It's a mess, tabled it until after the vacation. :upsidedow

Rain rain go away, you're making my body hurt today.

I convinced dh that I needed to do some walking today. I had read on a local coupon board of a discount grocery that carries a lot of organic products. We motored over to discover this hidden gem, they have a little bit of everything some is discontinued product, others are close to or already expired. We're pretty good about knowing the bottom dollar price we pay at a regular grocery or Aldi's. Some products were about the same price, others we know I can pick up for much cheaper with coupons (snack foods, frozen, packaged items, toilet paper).

Eloy wrinkled his nose at things way past the expiration (meat, lunch meat), we both agreed dairy is still "good" for a week or more. We found a few Target branded items that will expire in a few days, works for us!

We found a few goodies!

$1 a bag of red and green peppers (2 reds, 3 greens) that are at that must use NOW stage-- cutting them up to put in the freezer. Beats the price of Trader Joe's frozen pepper mix.

$1 for 8 bagels, Target brand refrigerated, no expiration listed.

88 cents for a bag of green onions (possibly Target), about 6 bunches.

$1 for a 4 pack of organic yogurt, expired a week ago. I eat yogurt everyday.
$1.99 for a large one pound pack of fresh mushrooms. (same price as a 8 oz pack in our regular grocery).

Passed as I didn't have a plan in my head for it.. $1 a package of portabello mushroom caps (2 per pack)
$1.49 half gallon organic milk expiring in 4 days ( I have a milk catalina to use this week).
3 for $2 bagged salad ( the good for you dark green leafy and spinach varieties) expiring in 3 days (thinking this will be good when family visits).

We were joking that it's "russ heaven", eloy's co worker likes a bargain and will eat expired food. He hates to see anything go to waste. :rotfl2:

Now to work this store into our regular rotation of shopping. :thumbsup2

I'm all excited this week, my doubling coupon store is doing TEN coupons per order to double.. sweet!:woohoo: :yay:
I just ordered a bunch of coupons from a service last week, hoping to score some freebies :yay:

Got up at 5am so I could go to work early. Got a lot done since nobody else was there, but I'm sitting here ready to fall asleep.
