RU sure you don't want to use those miles to join us at WDW for spring break??

Tempting offer, but I want a trip with just E and I. Now that he has fallen in love with San Diego, it would be hard to pull him from the temptress.
Everytime he calls the first words are " I wish you were here" awwwww.

Too bad we didn't have time to plan. He's thinking if they go next year, he will have me join him at the end of the week and come back a week later. Though not sure how that would work with school district paid air fare.

Just switching the name on the reservation was a giant headache, at first Sun Country wanted $500 .. what?? that costs more than just buying a new ticket! They did some more arguing and it came out to $75 for a change fee.
If that's all it would take.. we would totally jump on that.
We would be on different flights home, my miles are on Northwest/Delta.

I think I have a trip to plan!!! Actually I think I will skip the planning - less likely to be bummed that way if we have to cancel...however I have never done a September - I am guessing way hot and way crowded....but OH WELL!!!

(and I lied, I at least looked up the hours of operations and refurbs :snooty: )

Another parade done, J told me they have been concentrating on their performance piece to the point that they have forgotten how to do parade marching. OOPS! Battery tempo was too fast (show tempo is much faster) , he had a few screw ups in timing for play/march/ attention.

I'm sure they will rehearse a bit more on parade before the next one (22nd) and definitely before the State Fair parade (29th) as that one is competition with other high schools.

I scolded him too for not drinking enough water this week, he felt a bit dizzy today during the parade. Rookie mistake I guess.

:yay:

Labor day is incredibly hot and mega crowded due to the marathon. After that.. things die down since everyone is back to school. No block outs for So Cal passes, that's a good sign. ::yes::

Wow - parades - brings back memories. I was in way too many parades when I was younger!!!

When is the marathon??? :scared1::eek::faint:

Define mega hot??? I really don't have too many options here (lets be honest, it is these days or not at all)

Color guard or did you play an instrument?

I'm just amazed at how much he has learned in just a few months!
Their show piece music is complicated, a mix of Swan Lake and Firebird.. reminds me of the Harry Potter music at the beginning.. just as creepy! Plus he is learning go five steps this way, run march backwards 20 steps that way, spin in a circle and land on one knee .. and on and on and on... makes my head spin!

When I was way young (and skinny) I did many many parades for dance. In high school I played the piccolo in marching band (but after marching band had to switch to bass clarinet...could not deal with evil band witches....then after my sophomore year I skipped band all together)

The full marathon is September 6th (DL, DCA and DTD), Family Fun run is early am September 5th (they use DCA).

The full marathon will have DL open an hour later in the morning to give a chance for all the runners to complete. It was crazy crazy busy in the morning!!! But it was also over 100 degrees that day, the runners and their family tired out and by afternoon it was a walk on for everything.

Looked it up - we will be gone for the marathon. Labor day weekend is both stores super busiest weekend - so we are escaping for a couple days during the week - but will be back to work Saturday :faint:

See - I am impatient. Over 100 degrees though :faint: I think we are going to melt!!! I am glad we opted for the Grand though...at least it is a quick run to the hotel :faint:

J plays the flute, he was in band in middle school, dropped it in high school because there just wasn't enough room in his schedule to do Spanish and Band. When marching band sign up came round in June he got interested again, dusted off the flute and had to learn a few notes that he never did before.

That is awesome. I also had the same scheduling conflict in 7th grade - had to choose between algebra and band. Then I challenged the band director to put me in the top band - and he said no. I bugged him enough (we had 25 flutes in the top band) that he let me sit in for a challenge. I had to sight read the music they had been practicing for weeks on - and I made it past 1/2 of them. After that I got to do both :rotfl2:

You know how it is in Anaheim, middle of winter and yowza! heat wave.. early fall can go either way. Mid-week, perfect!!! Schools will be starting mid August for the area, after Labor day for most places... though E's school asked for a variance and will start September 1st, just to confuse the families who will expect day after Labor Day.. because in MN.. it has ALWAYS been day after Labor Day.
