The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

It looks like come hell or high water we are going in March. Hubby's work is getting back on track, they are even offering OT now. :cool1::cool1: So hopefully it will work out.

wooohoo! That's wonderful! :goodvibes
Ever so slowly the economy is getting better. Not the same as before, but not that bleak outlook either.

They are also putting in kids suites at the Hojos. Have ou seen them? I guess they are Pirate themed, but Im not sur eon their occupancy. I have seen 5 or 6 people. :confused3

good idea, too bad they didn't do it a long time ago! My kidlets are too old for any of those cute themes. sniffle sniffle.

E was growly earlier today, decided he dind't like the dialysis stuff in the living room. Pushed it all back to our bedroom today. Tried to prime the water pak and it failed over and over, finally got that done. Trying to make a "batch" of fluid -- that failed too. UGH!
Must be a bad Pak, pinched line inside.

Hauling 6 bags of fluid up the pole to hang. :faint:

Oy grumpy hubbies suck. I wanted to drown my hubby in the tub this weekend. He crabbed at me constantly. :confused3 I think it is the heat. Now my kiddos are crabby.

How big are the bags of fluid?? Are they like the saline bags that they hook up to IVs?? Or am I WAY off base?

Each bag holds 5 liters, think of it as the size of a 10 pound sack of flour.
The pole hooks are about a foot above our heads, each bag has hanigng holes in the top two corners that must loop over the hook.
six bags, 30 liters of fluid - there is a sticker on the pole that says not to exceed 29 liters of fluid :lmao: The machine tips a tiny bit back after all the bags are hung.

Compare to IV saline bags, those only hold 1 liter of fluid.

They DO offer a discount on the suites.. BUT.. they have new Mickey Mouse rooms.. Oy. So much to think about!! Unless we cant afford to go that is. :lmao:

Okay! I totally get it now. Maybe.. DANG those are big bags!!

Pak takes 3 hours to prime, it's our mini water treatment center. It has various filters and chambers to clean the tap water to make it ultra pure, no bacteria, no chlorine. It's a big heavy flat box that slides inot one isde of the pureflow base.
Pak needs to be done about once a month.

Making "batch" uses a SAK. I't this big plastic sack that holds 60 Liters of fluid. Reminds me of the plastic bags they put in milk dispensers or the "shake bag" at Mc Donald's.

It has a bit of fluid inside to mix with the ultra pure water ..making it the correct mix of potassium to use during dialysis to pull the extra fluids and toxins out of his bllod as it runs thru a dialyzor filter "kidney"
SAK takes 6 hours to fill, he uses 28 liters per run thus a SAK lasts two days.

Wow. Neat!! Sooo... could you drink the water?

heee heee

I searched for an image on google .. and found my own post on the DIS with my own pic.. :lmao:

The top part shows the bags, smaller bag hanging to one side below is saline.
Round thing on one side( red with blood) in a cradle is the "kidney".

:lmao:

I suppose you could, but it would taste "off" as it has added potassium and other things for the dialysate. When Poly messed with the drainline and got all wet I was worried it would hurt her, someone on a dialysis board compared it to gatorade. but uhh used dialysate.. pewwwwwwwwww stinky stuff! I teased E, his used fluid smells just like his farts. :lmao:

Other machines for at home and in center, use big RO tanks (reverse osmosis) to clean the water then they have bicarb and acid to mix to make their own dialysate.

RO is also used for making clean drinking water for home use. Just not taking it to the next step to make it dialysate.

THAT is an awesome hat. I dont know how it happened.. We werent in direct sunlight that much. But it must have been enough, because I am burnt too. I feel like crap. everytime he smiles at me, I want to cry!! I have FAILED you!!:lmao: My dh had to talk me down last night.. I am a little... high strung..:rolleyes1 You all know that. I'm watching the news right now and there is a lady that takes old plastic sacks and crochets them into hats. There ya go. Economical and save the environment at the same time.:thumbsup2

The evil mommy wouldn't care, the evil mommy would have pushed all the kidlets into the sun and walked away with her half melted fruity adult drink and sang a little song to herself... lalalalalallala

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Evil Mommy would have left the 6yo at home in charge of the babies and headed to DL for a weekend getaway.:lmao::thumbsup2

I know quite a bit about baby carriers. As a matter of fact I recommend a couple of very sturdy, muscular friends. They make the best baby carriers.
