The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

hey all its been awhile since i have been on here just wanted to say hi

Hello!

Welcome back :goodvibes
We should plan to meet in Feb since there will be an overlap of your travel dates with when several regular posters will be there... me, Staley, sameyeyam...
Pixster, Dizzy, Moto, maybe Albort

::yes::

Went to another football game/party at a co-workers home today. Nice newer house, she said they got lucky as it was lower priced due to heading into foreclosure. The previous owners damaged all the doors before they left, punching holes in them or just removed. I can understand feeling hurt and angry when you lose your home, but why destroy it before you leave?

This party was way more laid back than the previous one. She had her kidlets and other people brought their little ones, playdates for the kidlets and for the parents watching the game.

That's about all we did for the weekend, our boys go out and have fun with friends.. we sit at home and watch movies (me).. or sleep half the day (Eloy).

Eloy has one more week of work and then he has winter break. :yay: The boys have school next week plus Monday and Tuesday of Christmas week too. Told Eloy we should do something "fun" on the two days the boys have school.. he replied "what would you call fun?" and added a suggestion that is not appropriate to post here. :lmao: :rotfl2:
 Well, uhh yeah... but we already did that. :rolleyes1 Now think of something else....

We're still thinking.

We are looking forward the Christmas break.. Dh and Alex will both be home for two weeks.. :cool1: Its gonna be a full house, and I cant WAIT! I will get to sleep in, and have a little break from the babies. Plus I have to get all my shopping done, I have done almost NO Christmas shopping. But the kids will have their big gifts for sure. Not much else though. Oh well. We went BIG last year, because we knew it would be a big one this year.

Jazzy had spaghetti for dinner tonight. OMG! I got pictures, and she just LOVED it. :lmao: So cute! She ate a freaking ton of it. She would rather eat food that she can feed herself, then baby food, or even take a bottle. Fine by me, Vinny is such a needy little bugger still.

:cutie:
I love how they are developing their own unique personalities. Jazzy sounds like she is a fiesty ball of energy while Vinny is mellow, likes to stick to the routine and skeptical of changes (feed myself? I think not woman, now give me my bottle and be quick about it... ala Stewie of Family Guy.):lmao:

Shopping? what's that?

Shopping requires money, don't know what that is either.

:goodvibes EXACTLY! Jasmine is just CRAZY!! She is so GOGOGOGOGO!! and demanding. VERY demanding. We went to Red Robin one night, and everyone got their food.. We were cutting some stuff for her, and as soon as the food hit the table she started SCREAMING for her share. :lmao::lmao: Everyone was looking at us, giggling.. It wasnt an annoying crying scream, just a GIVE ME FOOD!!! Scream. All the while Vinny is sitting there grinning his dopey grin with a french fry hanging out of his mouth. :lmao:

Having twins is the most amazing thing I have ever done. We took them to my grandmas house yesterday, and everyone was so... I dont know. Entertained.. by watching them crawl all over each other, and speed crawl to the tree in a little baby race.:lmao: As much as I complain about what rotten little beasts they are, having two of them.. Its amazing.

RIGHT. We are so broke. Oh well. We will have fun Christmas, no matter what. Cookies to bake (and frost) other goodies to make... New bikes to ride! It will be fun.

She pulled through!!!!!!! omg.. I cant believe it. All of the sudden her lungs went back on track.. Im not sure EXACTLY what happened.. After night with no sleep Bill wasnt so good with the details. :lmao:BUT.. She is better. Not out of the woods yet, obviously.. But she beat this little challenge.

Awesome!!! We were out of town this weekend and I told DH the story - I am so excited to hear good news!!! (Granted he did look at me funny when I referenced one of your friends in a story) :lmao:

Hello Everyone,

I am almost done decorating my Xmas tree at home. It's a tall pre-lit artificial one. I really wanted a real tree but it would be too much of a hassle. Nothing beats the smell of a real Christmas tree though! :) I Disney-tized the front of my tree with various Disney ornaments. The back of the tree is just other ornaments (the back of the tree faces a window so people can see it). I still need to assemble my Monorail around the base of the tree. I would love to get that WDW Train Set that they sell in the parks as well as online, unfortuantely it costs too much. :faint:

My friend took me out on Saturday to Hollywood. We went to a Tokidoki store that just opened on Saturday. We were upset that we got kicked out of the store. It was a tiny tiny store, overcrowded and there wer no signs indicating they were closed. They wouldn't allow us in and had just allowed a family in before us. :( It's okay though because we spotted a cute store across the street and decided to head there. It's called Loyal Army Clothing and they have the cutest stuff! They even sell some baby and pet clothes as well as scarves, t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags. They have a website: http://www.loyalarmy.com/

They had a promotion in the store that was spend $30 get a free beach tote bag. I got some scarves that were super cute and $16.50/EA. I chose a California Rollin' tote that has sushi on it :) You can see the pics on my facebook. :smooth:

My friend wanted to go to this random Pancake party for Rilakkuma (it's a bear character that is owned by San-X). It was at a tiny store called Japan LA and they had a food truck out front called Buttermilk. I'm not sure if it's popular but I was told that people online like to follow this truck to see where it goes. They had the best red velvet chocolate chip pancakes I ever had! It was so good and also inexpensive. They also had a chicken sausage breakfast sandwich that was scrumptious :) This store had a Christmas costume contest but we weren't aware of it. Some workers dressed up all crazy (again, you can see the pics I took on my facebook, lol ). It was also raining on and off.

Will post more later but I hope you guys have a good day :grouphug:

I'm so jealous, you find the cutest stores!

I don't get out much, anything beyond Target is cute.

My ACTUAL conversation a few minutes ago at the Carl's Jr. Drive-Thru....

(after seeing the posters all over the side of the building and plastered on there menu board)

Me: I'd like the $6 cheeseburger combo with iced tea to drink.

Idiot: Uh, that's TWO cheeseburger combo's right?

Me: No, I'd like ONE $6 cheeseburger combo with iced tea to drink. It's the one that is on sale for $4.99.

Idiot: Oh, we're out of $6 cheeseburger patties, would you like the $6 hamburger instead.

Me:  Then look at menu board, $6 cheeseburger is on sale, $6 hamburger is not.

Me: I would like the $4.99 six-dollar-cheeseburger combo that is advertised for sale.

Idiot: We are out of those patties, you can get the $7.99 six-dollar hamburger combo, but it's more expensive.

Me: Well aren't they the same, except you add cheese to the cheese burger.

Idiot: Yes. But we can't sell the cheeseburgers anymore, only hamburgers, we're out.

Me:  (Looking around for hidden Candid Cameras).

Idiot: I can make you a six dollar cheeseburger combo for $4.99, but I will have to substitute two regular hamburger patties. The weight will be the same, but it will be two hamburger patties, instead of one. Is that ok?

Me: Yes, fine.

Idiot: What would you like to drink with that?

Me: I still want iced tea.

Idiot: Do you want fries with the combo or do you just want the burger?

Me: Yes, I still want the combo, only with two patties instead of 1 thicker patty, french fries and an iced tea.

Idiot: We are out of fries also, that's why I asked? Do you want to substitute fried zucchini?

Me: Can I have onion rings instead?

Idiot: No, we are only substituting fried zucchini.

Me: Fine, just give me the friend zucchini.

Idiot: Says, nothing, but numbers and descriptions keep flashing on the board.........

Idiot: That will be $7.49.

Me: No, I want the $4.99 combo.

Idiot: Well you had substitutions on the meat so the price goes up.

Me: (WTH!! Again I start looking for hidden cameras, this can't be for real).

Me: (I spot another special...the Big Carl's special combo for $4.49). Never mind, just give me the Big Carl's Special for $4.49

Idiot: We're out of that hamburger sauce.

Me: (Long pause....never mind, I'll go somewhere else!)

Seriously can you believe this!:rotfl2: I drove straight over the Jack in the Box and had no problems whatsoever.

Oh yeah.. I was going to add that food trucks are a rarity here. The weather of course forces it to be feasible only in summer plus Minnesotans tend to be very picky about food... or maybe I should say we tend to go for typical bland and familiar foods. Anything "new" is treated with a bit of a sneer and raised eyebrow, which sucks because we miss out on some really cool stuff.

I LOVE food trucks. Not many here, a few Mexican Food ones. But over in Portland, tons of them. They also have the stands downtown. My all time favorite one is Big Honkin' Burrito...so yummy!

Just tried to order a gift basket for my grandma. It has avocados, oranges & lemons. They have horrible fruit in Arkansas.

The gift was $24.99, then shipping charges (regular ground mind you) popped up at $29.99! UH, I don't think so! Seriously it had 4 oranges, 4 avocados and 4 lemons. No way am I paying $54.98 for a small box of fruit that I could buy for about $5 here.

Yikes!
Have you tried Harry and David, free shipping with no minimum purchase (code SNOW)? No avocados but I've heard their pears are very yummy!
This one is on sale $29.95

Howdy Hyenas!

I know........I have been MIA.

Since the lady i knew from the Ladies thread passed away, I have been kind of out of it. That and Christmas busyness.

Are you still planning a trip to DL in the Spring?

We went to DL a couple of weekends ago. So busy, and then our time got cut, cuz we were afraid of a big storm coming in. So we had to leave early, before the Grapevine closed on us. Because of that, I missed the Candlelight Processional, which was the main reason we went that weekend. Oh well..........there is always next year I guess.

I hope you all are happy and healthy.

My dh has started a war with a lady downstairs.

She is the same lady that complained when he was smoking outside, sitting at Domino's picnic bench next door. The cigg smoke would come in her window (2nd floor) in the summer..well gee maybe close your window?? :confused3
And we heard from apt care taker's wife that the lady has been complaining about cooking smells from her neighbors.

Now she has been propping open the fire door on her level that leads to the front lobby stairwell. She dragged a big stone path edger brick from the outside to prop it open. (uhhh okay.... make the place look trashy thanks!) When dh went outside for his nightly smoke (on the front stoop because of her previous complaint) he noticed the door open.

He went back down and taped a note to the door about the hazards of keeping fire doors propped open and he will call the fire marshal if it continues.. and moved the brick to allow the door to close.

Woke up this morning and dropped his lab box outside for Fed Ex pick up (please please leave it outside people). Noticed a note taped to the door in question "There is smoke in the hallway. We have permission from (owner) to prop doors. We will close them when the air is clear.". Noted the brick is still sitting in the hallway too.

hmmm, I will keep you updated as the war continues.

The concern to us is we have been apt caretakers in the past, we know that stairwell and laundry doors are NEVER to be propped open. They are heavy steel doors for a reason, to keep everyone safe! Every time we see a door propped we close it and hide the door stopper (Our caretakers prop the door on their basement level too). I don't care what the owner says, I realize he does allow this to make people happy.. I would rather have unhappy but alive residents in case of a fire.

We actually lived in a building where a child played with matches in a carpeted stairwell. It smoldered and flamed overnight, causing everyone to be evacuated. The fire was contained to one small area and no one was hurt.

Why?

Because our apt manager was very picky about no door props, no windows open in the stairwells and laundry doors stayed shut. For our safety and to not get fined by the fire marshal. ;)

Thanks for posting those photos Pix. I needed that.:):thumbsup2

The stress level in my life right now is oh...on a scale of 1-10, about a 39-1/2! Nothing bad, major. Just tons of small stuff, with a few important issues thrown in, as well as not feeling ready for Christmas.

Hi Melody! Yes our trip is the first week in February. Flights are booked, hotel room booked....wish you were joining us. Sorry to hear about your friend.:hug:
