Talked to hubby about an hour ago and he's just learned that he's being layed of as of Dec. 31. This is not what we needed. We were already both working 2 jobs just to try to get out of debt and put some money in savings. And he doesn't really have the option of picking up more hours at his part-time job.

I lived for the BSC. I still have the Super Special where everyone and their families go to Disney World. And here is how old the book is...there is only MK and Epcot in the books. I read a few of the Sweet Valley books but I stuck mostly to the BSC.

OK I just added the Baby Sitters on Board Super Special book to my Amazon list....they have used ones for a penny! I used to have several boxes of BSC books in my parents basement but they were all lost in a flood about a decade ago. Oh and did anyone notice what is says on the Amazon page for the book?

Product Description
The baby-sitters have a million adventures during their fabulous summer vacation which includes several days in Disneyland.

I took the quiz too....You are most like Claudia Kishi! School is not your thing. You're an inspiring artist who much rather be experimenting with paints, clays, or any other of the million art materials stashed in your room. You also have a huge sweet tooth and a funky and exotic fashion sense. Sometimes you get pretty jeleous when someone seems better at something than you are. Let go of your insecurities and know that no one can take away your own personal, incredible talents.

Syrreal, I like the new one....I do like the old stuff they put in, too.
Kelleigh, I'm sorry :(

I have read all of SVT, SVH, and the BSC series. I started them when I was in high school and couldn't put them down.

I'd like to be in. :goodvibes ;) I loved the Baby-sitters Club! Claudia was my favorite. I also liked the Sweet Valley Twins books, much more so than the Sweet Valley High books.

ok, I too am a child of the 80's--graduated in 95. I loved BSC, and Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, not so much the plain Sweet Valley books though.

but I'm wondering if anyone else remembers this series. It was a group of 5 girls I think, they called themselves the Fantastic five or the Fabulous five or something like that. They had a nemesis group of four girls I think. The biggest thing I remember was that they all hung out after school in this diner that had bumper cars for tables and one of the books was about a girl letting the bad girl of the school hide in her house after running away.

anybody remember this series? it's been driving me nuts for a while now....

Yes! That series was by Betsy Haynes. Actually, there were a couple...they started with the Taffy Sinclair books and moved on to the Fabulous Four (Five?). It was a really good series! I found some last summer at a used book store and bought them for my classroom. They were really cheap, and I couldn't resist!

"WHO WAS MARY-ANNE'S FIRST KISS?" Was it Logan?

:welcome: Hi! I'm not surprised at all you got 'Dawn' with a name like, Dolphinrescuegirl, would you like to tell us the origins of your Dis-name? I'd love to hear! :goodvibes

I used to volunteer with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network doing rescues and rehabs on dolphins and whales. I figured the name fit:) Now that we live in FL I volunteer with Mote doing the same thing. I also now volunteer with FWC doing manatee rescues and health assesments. I eventually want to apply at DC in Orlando as a dolphin trainer.

Bye Everybody!! I've got an outrageously busy day at work so I don't think I'll be able to update before I leave tonight. :sad1: Have a great week!
Have a great time at the World!

I'm so sorry to hear that.

Oh my! Please include me in this thread. I have all the BSC books. Yes, all of them. :goodvibes And all the super specials. Yup, I'm a geek. But I'm ok with it. And I have a ton of the Sweet Valley High books too! What can I say, I was and remain a reader.

ha ha! yes! I have a bunch of those still! That was the Fabulous Five and their rivals were the Fantastic Foursome :goodvibes

I read BSC Books like crazy when I was I think in 5th grade. It would have been 97/98. I loved them!

This thread is a welcome distraction. I had to have my kitty put down on Sunday and I'm having a horrible time with it. I'm so miserable.

Remembering how much I enjoyed the SVH books is making me smile :)

Was Mary-Ann's first kiss Logan?
How many of us watched 90210 and how many are watching the new 90210?

Loved the old 90210 and still watch it on Soapnet. I also love the new 90210. They just announced that Jason Priestley is going to be directing at least one episode.

OK, I just went on Wiki, b/c I was thinking about a different Super Eiditioon of SVH with the girls in France and discovered there was a series with the girls at University? And a spin-off of that with just Elizabeth? And Jessica got married and divorced? Hot damn! And I thought the deaf girl dying of a Coke OD the first time she tried drugs was extreme!

OMG. The Sweet Valley University books were crazy! Pretty risque, actually! :scared1:

Susie- So sorry to here about your kitty!
College SVH- yes, risque! I remember one where one of the girls got herself into a "situation" at a boat dock or something.
sweetandsassy- LOVED 90210! Don't watch the new one. I need to get a DVR so I can watch more tv!
dolpinrescue- What a cool job! Btw, didyou read about that dolphin jumping into a boat and knocking a lady out? Crazy!

For some reason, I thought of this today (during a class, obviously paying attention)...remember those friendship bracelets made out ofembroidery thread? Beginners did braids, but the really cool people did the knotted flat ones with patterns worked in.

I remember making the braided ones....I never got good enough (never practiced enough) for the other ones.

No, I didn't hear about that! Where and when did this happen? You don't happen to have a link do you?

Oh wow, I am so happy I found this thread.

I was a HUGE BSC fan and read SVT as well. Got more into the SVH series. I still have all my books stashed away somewhere!!

I loved 90210. And SOAPnet made me addicted to Melrose Place so I have to keep buying the DVD sets whenever they come out. I'm watching the new 90210. It's watchable, can't say I don't like it.

Since the new 90210 is doing so well, any word on if they'll bring MP back? Wouldn't be the same without Michael Mancini! By far the best character on that show.

Holy smokes, I LOVED Baby Sitters Club & Sweet Valley High. I first discovered BSC in about 4th or 5th grade and that started it all. I lived for those books. Probably in middle school I discovered SHV and admit to sometimes reading both well into HS just for fun fluff reading. Hey, who am I kidding, I would love to have my old books to read every now and then again! I always wanted my own BSC and loved Stacey. She was my girl! The super editions were the best....remember the one where they were all camp counselors? Made me want to go to summer camp! As I got older I'd always go into the bookstore just to read the backs of the new books and see how far they got and what was going on. Soooo now I'm feeling to urge to look for some used copies!!
