I worked all weekend at the 2nd job. Thankfully I'm off from both jobs on Friday and Saturday this week. Hallelujah! I really need a break. But, the good news is that I got a promotion at the part-time job. Not sure how much of a raise comes with it since my manager has to get it from corporate, but I'll take it. It will mean some extra $$ to help me buy a whole new wardrobe as I'm losing weight.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Congrats on the promotion, Kelleigh! AND on the weight loss!

I've read SVT, SVH, SVU, and BSC books! I used to collect them. And I was so mad when I let a friend borrow BSC #2 and she never returned it. I was addicted to all of them.

Although, it's been a very long time, and I remember the characters, but I doubt I'd be very good at any kind of trivia.

I think I'm going to try to find that Special Edition BSC in WDW!! That would be a real blast from the past!

:welcome: Oooh.... I would've been so mad if someone'dve lost mine too!

I've been doing this all evening: :laundy: As well as packed the kids bags and most of my bags. Went to the eye doctor and made dinner. Now I need to take a shower and craaaaaaaaaaaash before getting up early to do dishes I don't feel like doing tonight! ;)

'Night everyone!

I just found this thread! :) I never got into SVH but I LOVED BSC. I had the whole collection when I was growing up (c/o 94!) and my mom actually just recently donated them to the library.

Do you guys remember the one where they go to Disney?

I also watched all of the Clarissa Explaints it all. Actually, I think that I might have ended up being a chick who squeezes her toothpaste on the upper corner because of that show. I know, obscure reference, does anyone else remember that?

Oh my gosh. Sweet Valley High! I LOVED those books. I started reading them in 6th grade and read them for years and years. I always wished I had a twin like the Wakefields.

The clip art of the books in the OP brought me right back. How funny.

First New Kids on the Block reunite, now these books find their way back into my life. It's like I am reliving my youth. :goodvibes

Thank you! The weight loss isn't as much as I'd like it to be, but it took 37 years to pack it on, so I guess it will take a couple to get it off. But my Wii Fit sure is making it fun. And this morning, I just found out that Jillian Michaels (of Biggest Loser) has a new game coming out for the Wii. I can not wait to get that. I'm guessing it will really help me burn the calories and tone all the muscle that I know is hidden in there somewhere.

I'm gonig to have to start using my wii fit again. I gave up on it because every time I got on it told me I gained weight. It was ticking me off. I decided I'm only weighing in on the Wii Fit once a month.

Julia - have fun on your trip!
DH and I are going with another couple Nov 2 for Food and Wine. We're only going to be gone 2 nights, but we never leave the kids behind so I'm worried dd3 will have a hard time with it. We went away for 1 night last Feb, not even gone 24 hours and dd kept asking for us. I went out last night and before I even walked out the door she told dh, "I miss mommy already."

I came in to work today and my computer was gone. I thought I had been fired without knowing it. Then, I thought IT had borrowed it....nope, it was literally stolen....and we need to have access badges to get in the door. They're trying to figure out who went in and out during the hours that it could have been stolen and I'm the boss for today (I'm using her computer....she's out for stomach stapling surgery.)

:wave1: Welcome to the Club! I'm so glad someone else watched Clarissa! I LOVED that show and I swear no one else I knew watched it!!! I used to tape it on the Beta I had in my room! (When the family 'upgraded' to VHS, I got to have my very own Beta! :lmao: )

I never liked NKOTB, but I'm glad we brought you back to the good ol' days!

Ugh. Wii. Don't even get me started on the Wii. It's a short story, but I can't stand the Wii. :rotfl: I'll save that story for another time, though. Glad it's helping you out anyway, Kel!

Aww.... that's cute! :goodvibes I remember it used to be so hard to get away from the kids.... now I can't ever wait to get away from them! It's like that old saying.... "Take my kids.... Please!" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

OMG, Sass! That's crazy.... how wierd, huh?:guilty:

Yep, and I know I shouldn't be upset because it wasn't my personal property but I did lose some data and information on some orders I was keeping track of so that upsets me a little.

I never liked NKOTB
I didn't either. I loved Duran Duran. Several years ago I saw them in concert, but it was not the entire original group. I told dh on the way to the concert that now all he had to do is buy me that Saab convertible I always wanted.

The next time they came to town, it was the original members and I was 11 months pregnant. Okay - 8 1/2, but I looked 11 months and I told dh there was no way I was going to a concert. With my luck I would have gone into labor just as John was winking at me. ;)

That's a pain.

LOL

I liked NKOTB ok, but they are local so I think it was required of me. My cousin was a HUGE Duran Duran fan. I liked them ok too. I pretty much liked everyone ok. I never really had favorites.

I'm so totally IN!!! I never got into Sweet Valley High, though! Only Baby Sitters Club...but boy was I ever a Baby Sitters Club fan!! :rotfl2:

Hi everybody and good morning! I just updated the 1st page to & title to invite BSC fans and updated the members list to include all you folks who've joined since the last update. I leave in.... 10 hours for the WORLD so I won't be on here 'till next week! I don't think the hotel we're at has internet access- maybe pay access, but I'm not sure so MAYBE I'll hop in but it's possible I won't be here at all until next Tuesday! So keep the thread movin', conversate, and have fun! I'll leave you all with a piece of additional trivia- this time from BSC, it's pretty easy for your die-hard fans-

"WHO WAS MARY-ANNE'S FIRST KISS?"

I got excited when I saw the title as I knew exactly what it meant! I read both series and LOVED them!I was just thinking about these books the other day. We should have trivia questions to answer. That would be fun! Who wants to make the 1st quiz?

:welcome: Hi! I'm not surprised at all you got 'Dawn' with a name like, Dolphinrescuegirl, would you like to tell us the origins of your Dis-name? I'd love to hear! :goodvibes

Well, though I'm young, I love Sweet valley twins!
I have a whole section of the middle school ones on my bookshelf. I got them all from my older sister, and they were so fun to read, especially the chillers :)

Oh yea, the Chillers! Honestly, I think I got just one, they started coming out just as I was kind of leaving that phase of reading- but granted, that 'phase' sure went on for many years!

I worked all weekend at the 2nd job. Thankfully I'm off from both jobs on Friday and Saturday this week. Hallelujah! I really need a break. YAY FOR WEEKENDS OFF!

LOL

Our "local" band is Cheap Trick. And um, I never cared for them. Sheeze, I was a kid when they were the most popular they ever were. They've got some big plans to build a hotel/museum and restaurant off the interstate here next year, I don't know about that one.....

I'm so totally IN!!! I never got into Sweet Valley High, though! Only Baby Sitters Club...but boy was I ever a Baby Sitters Club fan!! :rotfl2:

Yay! Karen! I just knew you would come, if you loved the Anne of Green Gables series, you were a girl after my own heart.... :goodvibes :goodvibes

Bye Everybody!! I've got an outrageously busy day at work so I don't think I'll be able to update before I leave tonight. :sad1: Have a great week!

ok, I too am a child of the 80's--graduated in 95. I loved BSC, and Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, not so much the plain Sweet Valley books though.

but I'm wondering if anyone else remembers this series. It was a group of 5 girls I think, they called themselves the Fantastic five or the Fabulous five or something like that. They had a nemesis group of four girls I think. The biggest thing I remember was that they all hung out after school in this diner that had bumper cars for tables and one of the books was about a girl letting the bad girl of the school hide in her house after running away.

anybody remember this series? it's been driving me nuts for a while now....

Was Mary-Ann's first kiss Logan?
How many of us watched 90210 and how many are watching the new 90210?

I watched 90210. In fact, we're still watching reruns on Soap Net. I don't watch the new one because I'm never home on Tuesday nights - and if I was, I'd probably be watching Biggest Loser.

Oh Heavens! Loved these books! Count me in!

I took the quizzes!
For Baby Sitters Club: You are most like Dawn Schafer! You're laid-back, confident, and love the beach! You also eat healthy and have strong beliefs about certain things. Sometimes you can be self-righteous about them and get carried away. Despite your relatively easy-going nature, you are quite passionate and intense.

For Sweet Valley High: You are Elizabeth. She is responsible and a hard working student. She knows how to have fun once in a while because of her twin, Jessica. Her passion is journalism. She is trustworthy and someone you can lean on.

I loved the SVH Super Editions - I remember one where Elizabeth and Jessica got summer jobs as Nannies, and Elizabeth ends up meeting and falling for some rock star who is spending his summer incognito (and Jess thinks he's a tool).

When I was a tad older (around 13 or 14?), I read Francine Pascal's other books:
Hangin' Out with CiCi
My First Love and Other Disasters
Love & Betrayal and Hold the Mayo
and I think I started the Caitlin series but never made it through before I lost interest (and got into Anne Rice books, vaulting clear over the V.C. Andrews novels).

OK, I just went on Wiki, b/c I was thinking about a different Super Eiditioon of SVH with the girls in France and discovered there was a series with the girls at University? And a spin-off of that with just Elizabeth? And Jessica got married and divorced? Hot damn! And I thought the deaf girl dying of a Coke OD the first time she tried drugs was extreme!

I ended up being mallory Pike whch I don't really agree with..partially because she was the only one that really annoyed me (maybe it was because of the way her family was always described). I think that if I had to pick for myself, I would pick Stacey.

I did watch the old 90210 and got sucked into the new one (which is bad, imo). I do like how they put some of the old stuff into it. I wonder what will happen with Kelly and Dylan ;)
