Friday 14th May - Universal Studios

We decided on grabbing breakfast from the food court, which consisted of a Mickey waffle and fruit - yum! I found that this morning I was finally beginning to feel better after five days of not feeling myself at all :thumbsup2 We set off after breakfast for Universal Studios.

We queued for our tickets before heading inside and bumping into a few friends...

After meeting Woody, Curious George and Scooby, we headed for the line for Shrek 4D as it only had a 20 minute wait. After giggling away with Shrek and Donkey, we came out of the theatre to be greeted by this monster...

I was literally like :scared1: Rip, Ride & Rockit is impressive. We decided we'd get it over and done with and joined the queue. My Dad did his usual trick and didn't join us at first, then suddenly appearing without warning :rotfl2: I was seriously nervous about this one, as I'd read about the seat restraints and was panicking that I wouldn't feel 'secure'. We queued for around half an hour for this one and finally reached our boarding point. We hopped in and pulled down the restraint and I swear I couldn't breathe :lmao: I chose my music, Limp Bizkit's 'Keep Rollin' and we were off! I absolutely loved the climb up the massive hill, it was really great. We hit the peak and we were off. There were plenty G's on this ride and I honestly was thankful when I arrived back into the station. Excellent ride and in the end I did feel secure enough, even wearing my flip flops :thumbsup2

We found my Mum and decided it was about the right time for me to give my Grandma a call back in the UK to let her know about the engagement. I had a brief chat to my Grandma and grabbed a drink. It was heating up fast today!

We carried on around and hit Twister and The Mummy...

My Mum, as I've mentioned, isn't a massive rollercoaster fan, but I managed to talk her into The Mummy and she quite enjoyed herself. My Dad kept winding her up saying that it had loops in it and she was terrified :rotfl: For all my Dad knew, there could have been loops - he'd never ridden it before!

We carried on around the corner and I decided now was the time I'd spoil my Mum a little :lovestruc It's my Mum and Dad's 30th Wedding Anniversary in October this year, which is symbolised by 'pearl'. So, what's more apt, than 'Pick a Pearl' :goodvibes I decided I'd get her one from the stand and asked her to choose an oyster and a setting. She felt bad for me spending that much money, but she's very much worth it :thumbsup2

We safely stowed the pearl away and then hit Disaster with a minimal wait time. After riding we grabbed some lunch from Richter's Burger Co and I bought myself a 'Thing 1' from the cart outside :goodvibes

We carried on further into the park towards Jaws and were sad to see that it was closed for refurbishment. We had a quick look around the shops and continued further to Men In Black. It had a really short wait and got off with Mum loving this ride also. I'm beginning to think she just likes to shoot things!!

We'd hurried around to The Simpsons ride and we were all excited as none of us had done this before. We found the 'Coke Coolers' before joining the queue though...it was a welcome refreshing moment!

We joined the queue for The Simpsons ride and it was LONG  Thing 1 joined us for the ride too...:goodvibes

We finally reached the top of the ride loading bay and were ushered into the preview room. We hopped into the ride vehicle (which is just Back to the Future, painted purple :rotfl:) and we were off. Yet again, I realised that I really should give simulators a miss  They just don't agree with me, but, trying my best to enjoy it, I can say I did really. I thought it was a really good story they'd put with the ride, lots of Simpson's humour too! We called at the Kwik-e-Mart on the way out and my brother grabbed himself a can of Duff energy drink and a Homer mug.

We made our way back up towards Terminator 3D and along the way was told that the Simpson's would be out for meet and greet shortly. I was certain that I needed to wait, I was rather excited and rightly so, as it was the whole family out :lovestruc

We queued for Terminator and backtracked to do ET before deciding that we'd had enough and after hitting some of the gift stores, we headed out and back to ASSp. We decided we'd have a night off from anywhere else tonight and chilled with some Poolside Lemonades and Bud Lights before grabbing some tea and heading over to the arcade for some fun and games :thumbsup2

Next up...day 10!

Where did DF get this fancy dress costume from?? :rolleyes1

A great trip report. US is one of our family favourites as there always seems to be more to do here for us as a family.
Big respect for your Mum for liking to shoot things - sounds like there are some issues there that may need resolving :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: Love it Kenny! DF said he just found it lying around!

And yes, I must keep an eye on my Mum from now on ;)

Lovely day :)

Thank-you :goodvibes

Enjoying your trip report - so is the Mummy not too bad as I am nervous to go on it this year:confused3

RRR looks amazing but I reckon i'd chicken out because of the lack of shoulder restraints.

The Mummy isn't as bad as people expect I'd say. There is certainly no loops, just speed and twists. My Mum doesn't do rides too well and she loved The Mummy, she'd go on again no problem.

There is no shoulder restraints at all. There's a lap bar and belt. But honestly, you will not 'move' once you're on the move. I found I was firmly in place due to the 'G' forces on the ride.

loved your thing one :thumbsup2

I know what you mean Rachel, I did the Simpsons with my eyes closed and felt very  when I got off!!

The Mummy is one of the only coasters over there that DW will do. She has had spinal surgery in the past and anything that is too bump or rocky is a no-no. As far as I can recall this one and Manta are the only ones she does so I'm sure you will find it fine jtlover :goodvibes

Another fab day. I loved the Simpsons ride, great pics with them too. :thumbsup2
