There would be no time this day for a leisurely breakfast at the Main Street Bakery, so I had pre-ordered some food from room service for a 6:15 a.m. delivery. Katja was not with us as she had spent the night at DxL with Steve, Sarah and Riley, and Annika was not interested in eating so I packed most of the food in the diaper bag. We met everybody else on the 4th floor again, and got on the very first monorail to the Magic Kingdom, just after 7 a.m. We were without the double stroller today because David was so frustrated with ours; it was very difficult to maneuver and hard to push. He wanted to rent one at MK because he liked the ones they had there.

We arrived at the turnstiles and had about a 10 minute wait before they opened the park. It was very cold!!! Riley, who had on a jacket and shorts, started crying because he was so cold. Steve took him to the bathroom to change into jeans (we knew it would be cold!). Katja was also cold, so I put her leggings on her under her shorts. A very goofy look, but she still wanted to wear her shorts. Both of the girls had sweatshirts on.

When they let us in we got mom’s electric vehicle and a double stroller for us (yikes! I think it was 13 bucks—we brought our own stroller for the rest of the trip!). We then headed straight for Tomorrowland and Alien Encounter. Mom, Dad, and David took Katja and Annika on Buzz Lightyear (3 times in a row) while Steve, Sarah, Riley and I did Alien. It was WAY TOO INTENSE for Riley, something I had been worried about. You are harnessed in your seat so little kids can not be held or comforted, making it all the more terrifying for them. I loved it, but he was terrorized—crying, very upset. He did okay until the Alien busted out of the glass and we were plunged into darkness with the thing breathing down our necks—its no wonder he lost it. When we were done Steve and Sarah wanted to take him on Buzz Lightyear in order to counteract the Alien effect and calm him down.

We decided to split up at this point—Steve, Sarah, Riley and Dad would stay in Tomorrowland, do Buzz and then Space Mountain. David, Katja, Annika, Mom and I headed to Fantasyland—they would meet us there later. Each group took a 2 way radio so we could stay in contact and find each other again. We hit Winnie the Pooh, which had about a 5 minute wait. By the time we got off the line had grown noticeably. We headed for Peter Pan, which had about a 10 minute wait. After Pan I contacted Steve and informed him that Pooh would probably have a long line so to get Fast Passes on their way over to Peter Pan. My mom took the girls on IASW, then Steve et.al showed up to ride Peter Pan. Space Mountain had been a bust; the ride had broken down and they waited 15 minutes before bailing out. They rode Peter Pan, Snow White, IASM. Then all of us walked over to Toon Town and rode the Barnstormer—no line, walked right on (our original plan had been to hit Splash and Thunder Mountains when the rest of the part opened, but we agreed it was too cold). After the Barnstormer we visited characters—Minnie, Goofy. Steve, Sarah and Riley used their Fast Passes to ride Winnie the Pooh.

By now it was nearly 11 and things were really getting crowded, and we were all getting hungry. We decided to eat at Tony’s Town Square so headed back to Main Street. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but at least it was warm inside! Katja and Riley were watching a Disney Video when Steve made a great discovery—all 7 of the dwarves were in the back! The kids went to meet them and get autographs. Katja got autographs from all 7 of them. When they seated us for lunch the hostess let me know that Jasmine and Esmerelda would be back there soon! I took Katja while we were waiting for our meal and she got to sit and visit with each one. It is a very out of the way spot, so even during peak crowd times the characters are not mobbed.

Lunch was very good at Tony’s (breakfast, actually) and I think we all enjoyed it. Afterward we did a bit of shopping and ALMOST stayed for the parade. It was 2:20 and we were in the process of snagging a spot when my Dad let us know that he WAS NOT going to wait 40 minutes for the parade. Oh well! We all left and caught the monorail to the contemporary.

The plan had been to swim at the CR today, and Steve, Riley and Sarah had brought their suits. It was a bit warmer now, and sunny. But the water was very COLD! Riley was upset and wanted to go back to DxL to swim. We found out that the heater was broken, and that the normally 84 degree water was only 70 degrees! Katja stuck it out and rode the slide several times. She, Riley, and Annika hung out in the hot tub the rest of the time (which was not hot, but was a lot warmer than the pool!). After swimming we split up to get ready for our 6:10 PS for the Villian’s dinner at GF.

At the Villian’s dinner we were greeted by The Queen of Hearts. Katja first spotted her from behind, and ran up to her, expecting I am sure, a beautiful princess on the other side of that ball gown. The look on her face was pricless when the Queen turned around! During the buffet dinner we were visited by Captain Hook, the Governor from Pocohontas, and Prince John. It was very nice, and the kids and adults thoroughly enjoyed themselves (secretly I had been hoping for Maleficient and Cruella, but the villains we got were good!).

After dinner we all went to our room at the Contemporary to watch the fireworks from our balcony. It was a great show (and the first time we had seen them from our room). We even saw Tinkerbelle flying from the castle! Riley seemed to especially appreciate them. Then everyone left for DxL, and we hit the sack.

Next up—Animal Kingdom and the Whispering Canyon Café!

Love your reports! Very detailed... just the way I like them!

I seen mentioned a number of times about the characters in the back of Tony's. Is this in the restaurant or outside? We have never been to Tony's and am considering making this a stop on our next visit.

Kirby-

The characters are located inside. When you enter, you will find Tony's lobby to the left and the photo-developing spot to the right. You need to go between both and head on back. You cannot see the character spot from Tony's Lobby--it is well hidden, but I suppose that is why the characters are almost lonesome back there!

Well worth it--have fun!

Snuggles--

Whoops, sorry I did not reply! I am surprised I did not run into you either--what were your trip dates. I looked and looked but did not see anyone with lime ribbons!

Darn it my secret is out about the camera center - lol we had the best character interaction here several times in July. Thanks for posting!

2 belles'mon, Thanks for the great report. We had breakfast at Tony's last time and it was great.

Sounds like your family had a great day at MK.
