"The truth" on EMH hours in summer?

On our last trip at the end of August we did AM EMH at MK and DHS. It was soooooooooooo worth it. At DHS from 8-1030 we rode TSM twice, RnR about 4 times and ToT about 4 times, ate something and then headed to Epcot WS. MK was virtually empty.

PM EMH at DHS wasn't so bad. We did TSM with pretty much a 5 minute wait but it stated 30 minutes. ToT was walk on and we were the last ride of the night and the characters really played it up. RnR said it had a 20 minute wait but it was walk on. It got better as the night got later.

PM EMH at Epcot was worthless. TT was 45 minute wait or more all night. Soarin wasn't so bad.

I'm an early riser by nature so I don't mind. My kids love to sleep in but while at Disney they will get up early to hit AM EMH. We don't do this everyday of the trip. But usually 2-3 times. All other days we do rope drop and I do 1-2 days of sleeping in.

Evening EMH works great when everything closed and your wanting more park time before bed. It's never short lines, everyone staying at the resorts hears it as a perk to get more time but in reality, it's a crowded day and you need more time to wait in line so they give resorts a couple more hours to wait in even more lines.

I only do EMH in the AM at the MK and then leave by noon. Other than that my strategy is to do a park the day AFTER it has EMH.

I have learned from the Disney blogging universe... rule number 101 is avoid EMH days. I guess I am a sucker for punishment because I just have a hard time believing it. We are a bit rusty with wdw but used to love emh nights but this was mid 2000's. Is it more crowded well yeah but by how much in summer?

We are going next month and with the updated release of hours I am wondering how much more I can get done in Epcot during the 2 hours of an evening emh? The following EMH night is Wednesday at MK and gives me one additional hour vs the night before. We will be leaving each park around noon each day and not returning until about 7. Our original plan was MK on Tuesday and Wednesday was a fill in day with Epcot.

Is it a crapshoot to see what day would be better or does the old adage of every disney blogger ring true in 2016.....stay away from EMH?
Seems as if you're asking two questions:
1.) Are your plans, which include PM EMH, a good idea?
2.) Are Extra Magic Hours (EMH) a good way to Tour?

I'm gonna' first answer Question #2 - everyone/every family Tours differently.

Morning EMH work if your family rises early and/or enjoys making midday/early evening plans. The negative impact of EMH on crowds is seen around midday and until after a Parade/Lunch-hour - when some people who utilize EMH are already gone from the Parks - when Parks are certain to be most crowded with or without EMH.

Evening EMH work if you enjoy the night. On the other hand, some people with (young??) children are somewhat hostage to nightfall. If you do Evening EMH, a strategy is to get FP+ for your 2nd Park (or just enjoy the day shopping or staying poolside), but Park Hopping is not for every family either.

Answer to your question #1 - are your plans OK?

We always take advantage of morning EMHs. It seems to work well for us. We start to drop off by 10pm, so have never really used the evening EMHs.
