The truth about WDW coffee

I seem to remember seeing a few places in WDW selling "Seattle's best coffee" which is a brand of Starbucks.
I couldnt say where, but i remember commenting to my wife that it was one of Starbucks brands.

Disney should get a Tim Horton's at Canada in Epcot. I don't like coffee and even I can drink theirs.
DBF liked the Kona coffee at the Poly and a coffee after dinner drink he had at Raglan Road.
The rest is horrible.
The tea bags at POP are not much better.

If you're driving, bring a coffee maker (don't forget your filters and mugs.) If you're flying, bring the ones that are like tea bags.

I only drink coffee in the morning but I have to have my Venti (or larger) Starbucks! I'm bringing a preground 1 lb. bag of Starbucks, a small box of unbleached flat bottom filters, a quart of half & half and a 100 ct. box of Splenda to use in the WL in-room coffee maker.

The Kona Cafe and Kona Island Cafe Coffee Bar at the Polynesian have very good coffee. I don't mind the ice cappucino's you can get in the Magic Kingdom, but everything else can be "iffy" at best.

Depends on how picky you are about coffee.

I like the coffee at WDW...counter service & table service.

Do the Deluxe resorts have coffee makers in the room? Are you allowed to carry in a travel mug of coffee into the parks?

My DH can't function without coffee in the morning. I can pack coffee/filters, etc. - was just curious if he'd be able to take it with him.

Thanks!

They do! Thank goodness too! I just bring all my own fixings and make it myself.

Is the coffee better at DTD? I know there's a McD's, and the restaurants there probably are using better coffee - Wolfgang Pucks, Earl of Sandwich, etc....

"Seattle's best coffee" which is a brand of Starbucks.
Which is a little bit sad, because it started out as a competitor to Starbucks, but the latter acquired it in 2003.

the deluxe & the mods have coffee makers...they provide the Folgers pods (make 2 cups or 1 mug of coffee.) We asked for extra caffeinated coffee nearly every day & the maids were very good at leaving extra so DH & I could each have a mug in the a.m.

But, like I said in PP, I actually liked the coffee at the counter services & at table service restaurant (signature & regular TS)

Over here in the Uk they use the Seattle's best brand at the Franchise outlet(in hotels and buisnesses etc) that will not stock the full Starbucks range of drinks.
They are unable to trade under the Starbucks logo's even though they are classed as Starbucks Buisness alliance franchise

Thanks ya'll!

Can you take outside drinks into the parks? I mean will he be able to take his travel mug of coffee inside of the theme parks?

Thanks again.

I've discovered the room coffee is...not horrible...if you don't use the room water to make it. I think a lot of the coffee problems at Disney have to do with the Orlando water.

After years of coming here I figured out recently that the Orlando water problem applies to almost everywhere you get coffee unless they are using filtered or otherwise processed water to make it.

Bad Coffee most likely = Bad Water. If you use bottled water even the Nescafe packs taste non-disgusting, if a little watery when you make it. Generally Disney coffee is just plain not robust enough so even if I order it I know I need to use cream and sugar to give it flavor.

Thanks, I read this whole thread waiting for someone to mention this! Orlando water has a high sulphur content, and that really affects the way coffee tastes. Last year we ordered a case of bottled water from Garden Grocer, and will do it again this year and plan on making our coffee with that. We grind our own coffee beans at home, so I'll pregrind some and pack it in our luggage with filters for the room coffee pot (don't mind using that, too hard to fly with one from California). Does anyone know if the room coffeepots at POFQ are 2 cup or 4 cup? And do they provide filters, or will they take standard sized filters? :surfweb:

Thank you to all for your responses. I was afraid of these answers. I'll make sure he reads this thread. Looks like he'll be going without coffee or suffering through the Nescafe.

I just posted about this yesterday in a differnet thread....

My MIL refuses to drink what passes for coffee at WDW - she only drinks double espressos which she says are passable. You can get those at several places in the parks.

Interesting that you bring up the orlando water doubletrouble. Dont know if thats the cause or not, but you find alot of Nescafe around europe at rest stops and such and its heads and shoulders better than what you get at disney. Could also be a poor mix that they get, who knows, one things for sure, its not very good!

1) Nestle sponsors an exhibit.
2) Nestle sponsors coffee.
3) Nestle gives WDW all the coffee free, just like Coke and Kodak gives freebies.
4) Don't look for mass changes until another sponsor steps up.
5) I doubt (although possible) that DD or Starbucks would give coffee free.
6) That is an awful lot of coffee for all resorts and all parks.

Just a note - if you stay in a DVC resort the rooms have regular 10 (or maybe 12) cup pots.
