Day 2 ~ August 7th
I woke up @ sunrise. It was a beautiful morning. Everyone was still sleeping so I went out to the beach to do some yoga. The Polynesian is so peaceful at the break of dawn.
The MK is the first theme park we like to go to on our trips. It was a Saturday and I was worried about the crowds so I only wanted to be there for a couple of hours. Then I wanted to head over to Epcot for lunch. It turned out that the crowds weren't that bad (they were much heavier on Monday). We should have stayed at the MK and enjoyed ourselves. It was noon by the time we got to Epcot and the kids were getting hungry and crabby. We thought we'd give Coral Reef a try. The atmosphere was great and the service was very good. My food was fine, my dh liked his a lot.
When we were done with lunch we did a few things in FW before I left to go back to the resort. My dh stayed with the older two so they could go on Test Track. My youngest and I got cought in a major downpour on our way back to our room. We were soaked by the time we made it to our room.
We changed and went up to the lounge to get a bite to eat. My dd met some other kids that she hung out with while I enjoyed some wine. The rest of our crew finally arrived just as wet as we were. We decided to just hang out in our room the rest of the night.
Day 3
Sunday I had planned on going to Epcot, but we really needed some down time. We went to the pool after grabbing some breakfast to eat from the concierge lounge. The pool is one of our favorite amenities at the PR. It was another beautiful summer morning. The kids had a great time playing in the pool and the beach. My ds has never gotten the nerve to go down the slide at the PR. He's watched his big sis go down on all our our visits. This time he finally did it and did it and did it
My dh and I were hanging out waiting for the pool bar to open. We love those Lava Flows. I made conversation with the women sitting in the lounge chairs next to us. They told me they came up for the night before their kids went back to school on Monday. They had stayed at POFQ and came over to the PR to go swimming. I really think that there are many people who don't know that pool hopping isn't allowed. I didn't see signs that were as visiable as the ones over at the BW or SAB. I believe they need one right at the entrance to the pool. I didn't say anything because that's not my job. They were some nice people who didn't realize they weren't suppose to be doing that. The pool wasn't very crowded yet. Monday would be another story.
We decided to head to MGM for lunch. We had a 1:30 PS for Sci Fi. We had never been there. It was fun. The kids really liked it and kept asking to go back. The food was fine and the service was very good. When we were done eating we walked out into a downpour. My dh thought we could get by with our umbrellas. Well after we were soaking wet he finally bought us some ponchos.
We did a couple of rides. The rain had finally cleared. My dh took the girls back to change while my ds and I walked to Epcot. We even beat the boat! The rest of them met up with us at Marakeesh. We tried lots of new restaurants on this trip. This one was another one we had never been to. We had a great dinner. The food was delicious. We all enjoyed the belly dancer, especially dh
We headed back to the resort after dinner. We got to watch the EWP and the fireworks.
Day 4
I had planned on going to the MK in the morning and at night. I wanted to get there at the opening, but that didn't happen. We made it there around 9:30. Our trips aren't as easy now. My 3 yr old will bascially only ride Dumbo, the tea cups and the Barnstormer. My 9 & 6 yr old like the coasters. It's just easier if we split up. Two and a half hours later we were hot and hungry. We grabbed a bite to eat at Columbia Harbour House. This is our favorite counter service restaurant in the MK. I enjoy eating upstairs and watching the crowds. Speaking of which, it was very crowded and hot so we decided to head back to the resort for a swim.
Out of all of our stys @ the PR I have never had a hard time finding a seat at the pool. We almost didn't find one on Monday. Although we did find one it didn't do us any good because I couldn't see the kids from where we were at and the pool was packed. I have never seen it that crowded before. I was a bit worried because there we only two lifeguards working and there were a lot of people in the pool. The table next to us had about 6 Corona glass bottles on their table. I also saw a water bottle next to a lounge chair by the entrance of the pool. It was an Vittel water bottle ( just like the ones from the concierge lounge) My dh went to tell the lifeguards and he asked if they check resort ID's. The lifeguards told him they were getting ready to do a check. When they did they found some people who weren't guests and asked them to leave. I had enough of the crowds so my ds and I went to the beach in front of our room. I do wish I would have thought about going to the quiet pool.
When everyone was back in the room we agreed we didn't want to go back to the MK that night. We thought it would be fun to check out POR and then go to DTD. We took a cab over because it was raining. We got some drinks and an appetizer at their lounge. We looked around the resort. It's beautiful over there. The DTD boat wasn't running so we decided to walk to POFQ. By the time we reached the FQ the light rain had stopped and the boats were running to DTD. We all enjoyed the boat ride. We did some shopping and grabbed some sandwiches from the Earl of Sandwich. They were very good. We will definately come back.
We met another nice family on our bus ride back to the Polynesian. It was so nice to talk to so many friendly people. We got back after 10 and we were exhausted.
