The trip of a million SCREAMS!

This is my first trip report, so bear with me. Here goes.....

This was our trip of a million screams. Some silent screams, some loud screams. Screams of annoyance, screams of fun, screams of frustration, screams of joy.

When I say screams of annoyance, don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. After all, a bad day at Disney is better than any good day at work.

Also, keep in mind that I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. So much of the screams are due to them.

My first screams came before I even started packing. We were leaving Wednesday morning and I decided Sunday night that I wanted to buy some new crocs – in the sandal style. Monday, at lunch, I went to a store and they were completely out of my size. (Agggghhhhh!) Tuesday, while at work, I called a couple of stores to see what they had. At lunch, I drove around looking for the first store and ended up getting a pedicure instead. Between the pedicure and driving, I took a 2 hour lunch. But hey – that’s like I got the pedicure free because I was getting paid while I was there.:yay:

I left work at about 4:30 and stopped at a Hallmark store. They did not have my size. I then stopped at another store and they had my size in the Cleo style, but not the color I wanted. But my feet looked so pretty after that pedicure; I had to get a pair. I settled on the white, with the green sole. Close enough to our lime green. Besides, it was either that or hot pink, with the orange sole and the white would match more. My purchase time was 5:44.

I got home and we ate a quick meal and then finished packing. Everyone was already packed, except me. I put on my new shoes to show my husband and left them on as I packed, so I could try them out. What do you know – they break. The side strap popped off. It was 6:58. I called the store to see how late they were open and they close at 7:00, so no time to switch them out. Then I decided if they break that easily, maybe I don’t want them.
Note: when I returned them after the trip, the lady told me these do break occasionally, but not that often. She said the company always sends them extra pieces (it was the black croc symbol round thing that broke) so they can fix these when it happens. They were out of them. So in my opinion it must happen more than occasionally since they were out of those extra pieces.

I finished packing, took a walk, put together some more LGMHs, then went to bed.

Are your Cleo's as comfortable as the regular crocs?

I did not mention that after she gave up on the singing, she said "Mommy" every 2 minutes. I would ask "What", she would say "Heyyyyy" in a very Southern drawl.

We always stop at the outlets on our way in. There are actually 2, used to be 3. Sometimes we stop at both, but this time we only stopped at 1. Sometimes they have things there that are still in the parks - but not many things. They have a tinkerbell lanyard with 4 pins on it that they had in the parks, but was half off at the outlet. DH saw a shirt he liked there for $25 and later saw it at the parks for $40 - it was in a different color, though. Yes, they have good deals and it is worth the stop. I do find that in the ladies shirts, they have a lot more small and medium sizes.

The two stores usually have mostly the same stuff.

Also for pins - they have pins for $3.99 and $4.99, sometimes cheaper, but not this trip.

Both of my kids like to do the mom, mom, mom thing and just say HI:headache: Thanks for the heads up :flower3: The plan is to check in then go shopping. I have never been to the outlets. :goodvibes jen

483 miles and we finally make it to Orlando without killing anyone. But lots of screams. Me screaming, DH screaming, DS screaming, DD screaming. Somebody give me a Percocet!
:lmao: How about a Lapu Lapu at the Poly next iem around? ;)

I am relentless over the crocs. We stopped at the mall and went into Outdoor World. I tried on pair of the flip flop crocs, but didn't have a color I wanted. Plus, the thong between the toes hurts me and I forgot to bring my Body Glide.
DARN, I was hoping you'd find a way to replace the broken ones. But you said you still had your Mickey Crocs, right?

Do we have to buy a Freddie, JR?

Stay tuned.................
Uh-oh - I have an idea where this may be going... popcorn::

I already told everyone DS6 is now Hamster. I will refer to DD2 as Girl – because if you ask her what her name is, she always answers “girl.” I will refer to DH as Ham. His mom has a nickname for him, and it is what I believe is slang for sh**, as in “he’s such a sh**. DH thinks he is a comedian and will make a “behind” of himself to get a laugh and his mom also tells him he is such an ******. Maybe that should be his disboards name. Her friend’s always say she is the only mom they know who calls their son ******. I say DH is so full of crap, his eyes are brown. Ham really should be telling this story because he knows just were to embellish to make any story funny.

We check into Old Key West. When I made the reservation, I requested to be as close to the main pool as possible. But then I read on the boards that only 3 buildings have elevators. The day before leaving, I called to request a first floor room. The nice lady on the phone, told me she would put on the request that we have a medical need for a first floor room. Now, I did not ask her to do this and would not have asked, but I didn’t ask her NOT to when she told me she was going to do that. I said to her, “I hope they don’t ask me what my medical reason is.” She said they wouldn’t and medical reason could be a bad back or hurt leg.

As I’m checking in, I’m worried that kharma is going to BITE me. I would rather be close to the main pool, then have a first floor. They’re probably going to give me a room on the first floor, but really far from the main pool. How am I going to say the pool is more important when we supposedly have a medical reason for a first floor?
I guess I lucked out, because we got building 15. Not right across from the pool, but a short walk. It is between bus stop 4 & 5 and on the first floor. We’re in a studio. And I picked up Freddie. The kids were excited to hug and hold him. He is a very muc loved croc.
OKW is a very pretty resort – very lush. Lots of trees, shrubs, plants, flowers. Everyone says how OKW has such large rooms. The room was spacious, but DH says the rooms are not as large as he expected. I can’t stand living out of a suitcase, so I unpack mine and Girl’s clothes. DH and Hamster's clothes stay in the suitcase.

Did I mention that Ham is not only a comedian, but a complainer? He likes to complain. His mother says when he was a little boy, she thought he was never happy, but then realized he just likes to complain and he is happy when he complains. So I’ll give you Ham's complaints, so think Ham, not Miz Diz when you read this part. While the ferry ride to DTD was nice, it took 30 minutes. Why did we have to stop at SSR to pick up more people? We could have walked there faster. (Then when we left DTD, we decided to take the bus because it would be faster than the boat.)
You can practically see OKW from DTD. How can it take the bus 30 minutes to get from DTD to OKW? We are the fourth bus stop. The bus has to go by each stop twice because each stop is on a separate street. Man, this is taking a long time. From now on, we’re getting off at the first stop. It’s a longer walk, but we can get to the room quicker. I don’t think I like OKW. I wouldn’t stay here again. The buses at SSR were much quicker.

I say, I would stay here again, but do agree the buses take a long time and would choose SSR over OKW.

DH also complained when we checked in because I asked the castmember about leaving Freddie for another Diser and then had to explain the whole “Discot” thing. DH rolled his eyes and walked away. Then he wanted to know why I have to tell everyone about that stupid crocker.

I am LOL right now. :rotfl2: I love your TR and your sense of humor. Cannot wait to read more.

Thank you. This is my first TR. I always thought I would not have enough to say, but here I am on page 2 and just finished the first day. Hope I don't bore anyone.

I am not bored! I'm luving it!!! Waiting....

Post pictures! Now that I know who you are, I would like to get to know you! And I really do apologize for DS's paparazzi attack in Epcot. Your family was so amazingly cute and we were so glad to see a family truly getting into the Disney experience. :woohoo: We had run into a few grumpyheads that day. I am so disappointed that I didn't recognize your lanyard then, that would have been hilarious! :rotfl2: (DS apologizes for cutting out the Little Incredibles-it was his first shoot and run!)

Can't wait to hear more about your trip. We are staying at OKW next month. If you have any more info on the bus route that would be great. I need to be able to stop the bleeding (complaining) before it starts. Are there only 5 bus stops at OKW? What order do they go? Is the Hospitality House the first or last stop?

Before I move on, I'm going to tell you a little more about Ham. By the way - he doesn't like the disboards name I gave him. He says I should call him Mr Diz. I tried explaining that Ham is just because he is so funny, but he doesn't like it. So I'm going to confuse everyone and now call him Mr. Diz.

As you read my TR, you may think Mr Diz is a complete behind. Well, we all can be sometimes. He is truly a very good husband. He sends me an email every day to just say he loves me. Sometimes I get flowers at work for no reason. If we are out with my sister and BIL, my BIL will always make comments about other women and how pretty they are. Mr Diz always responds that they are too skinny. I have never caught him eyeing other women when we are out. He will never say another woman is prettier than me or comment that another women is good looking in front of me - with the exception of Ariel. He loves Ariel and goes on about how much he loves her shells. He also has the Little Mermaid song on his IPOD.

Do you ever watch Malcolm in the Middle? Well, there is an episode where the mom is pregnant and gaining so much weight. She can't understand. Hal has been adding extra calories to all her food behind her back because he likes the extra weight on her. Mr Diz and I have seen this episode a couple of times and each time we laugh and Mr Diz even says that is like him. I don't think he ads extra calories to my food, but he doesn't like women who are really skinny. Anytime I try to lose weight, he does always try to sabotage my diet, though. I call him my sabateur.

Mr Diz always lets me sleep in on Saturdays and gets up with the kids.

And most important, I almost always get my way.

We sometimes argue, but for some reason our arguments usually end in laughter. One time we were on a vacation at a very touristy spot. I got mad at him for some reason that I can't remember and started walking ahead of him at a fast rate. He got mad about that and started yelling at me to come back, then ran up and grabbed my arm really tight, pulling me back, gritting his teeth, and telling me to "come back here." I just busted out laughing. Then he laughed. All the other tourists around us who had been staring then all started smiling. I know they thought we were crazy.

Mr Diz thinks I am nuts on the disboards, but he can't say anything. He has a group of friends that are all complete computer nerds. Sometimes they get together to play cards and even have their own website just for their little group. So if he nags me about the boards, I remind him about his nerdy little group.

Mr Diz has OCD. He has to do his checks every night before we go to bed. He checks everything in 5's. The doors, the refrigerator, oven, stove - even if we didn't cook that night. The shirts in his closet are all 1 finger width apart from hanger to hanger. You get the point.

He is very clean and hates it when the house is a mess. Since the birth of our daughter, it has been pure torture for him because I can never keep the house clean. I clean up one room, then go to the next, while the kids go back to the first room to mess it up again.

Mr Diz is very funny and a jokester, but he also has to have things planned out. I think it is part of his OCD. When we first got married, any time his family visited, he would tell them what time they had to leave. I told him he was not allowed to tell my family when they had to go. Even today, he'll invite his family to come see us, but tell them they have to leave by noon on Saturday.

His parents were just visiting and I was telling them about Disney and Mr Diz said he was not going to be uptight with the kids. (The kids stress him out very easily.) His mom laughed at that. I told her how he got mad because Hamster opened the patio door to the room. I had no problem with it, but he said Hamster was letting the bugs in. What bugs?:confused3 When Mr Diz went out to the car, I told Hamster his daddy promised he was going to be easy going. Hamster told on me when his daddy came back to the room. When I was telling his mom, we were laughing so hard at Mr Diz we were crying - it was a had to be there moment.

Tomorrow I will start posting about our first day in the parks. We had an adventure in Epcot with Freddie and I will post some pics.

I'm so glad we weren't grumpy with you. We enjoy the attention and always get extra attention when we dress alike. You know, when this was going on, I almost told your DS that he had to do "the look" if he saw anyone else with green lanyards like mine. The only reason I didn't is because I had been embarassing DH the whole trip. I told several people about the lanyards and the look. DH was :rolleyes2 I wish I would have known who you were. We also had one of the crocs! DH also thinks running into other disers is a myth.

Jumping aboard. Anything with a 2yo DD and 6yo DS has got to be good! Not to mention an OCD DH!!:lmao:
:goofy:

Could you please give the location of these outlet stores?

I'll try my best here. We are traveling from GA. We take the turnpike, then I4 toward Tampa. We take the first exit. I believe this is the exit before Universal and there is an advertisement for a large McDonalds. You can see the outlets from I4 - I believe they are BELZ outlets. We get off and turn left. There is a mall on the Right, but go straight. It is in the last Outlet building on the left.

The other one is off I4 at Vineland. You can also see this from I4. It is exit 68. From DTD, you can turn Rt on Vineland (535), after you pass I4, turn left where the Bahama Breeze is. It's on your right. There is also a Publix behind the outlet mall. The store is on the backside of the mall, next to the food court. You can google orlando premium outlets.

I’ve told you how Mr Diz is such a planner, but he isn’t so bad at Disney because he is on vacation. I end up doing all the planning. I knew I wanted to go to Epcot or MGM on this day, so we decided that when we would let the bus decide. Whichever bus came first, we would get on it.

When we are at Disney we wear a Disney shirt every day. If we come back to the hotel for a nap or shower before dinner, Girl and I will sometimes change into non Disney clothes - depending on where we are going to eat and how we feel. At the young age of 2, she is very picky about what she wears, so I let her pick her clothes out in the morning. I just lay a couple of things out and she chooses. Luckily she likes wearing the character clothes.

:offtopic: At home, we have had some arguments over what she is to wear. She has a princess nightgown that she absolutely loves. One morning I picked her clothes out and asked her if it was okay and she wouldn’t even look at me and said no. I told her to look and she said, “NO! WEAR THIS!” pointing to her nightgown. I took one arm out of the sleeve, went to the other arm, as she put the first arm back in. This went on several times. I finally won out. Then when I put her pants on her she screamed the whole time “NO WEAR! NO WEAR!” And kicked at me.

We did not have any screaming over getting dressed, but Girl rubbed sunscreen in her eyes, so there was some screaming there. And it put us off track because I wanted to leave for the bus at 8:15 so we could get to the parks right at opening. We ended up leaving about 8:45.

Today, I was all limed out. I put on my Team Focker Watch Tshirt. (Couldn’t talk any other family members into letting me buy them one.) Had on my green lanyard, LGMH on all gear…. Grabbed Freddie and we were ready to go.

Mr Diz: You’re not taking him in the parks.
Me: Yes, I am.
Mr. Diz: No you’re not. I just don’t understand why you even want to. Besides you’ll lose him.
Me: No I won’t. Besides it’s fun and it’s funny.
Mr. Diz just shakes his head. He knows he can not win.

I have to take a break, but stay tuned for more screams!
Is Mr. Diz right?
What adventure will Freddie have?
Who is the famous person Freddie meets?
Will Miz Diz be exposed?

We make it to the bus stop and we wait. Hamster and Girl fight over Freddie. MK comes. Animal Kingdom comes, Hamster and Girl fight over Freddie some more. MK comes, Epcot comes. EPCOT WINS!

We get to the Epcot and we have a plan. Soarin’ first for a fast pass. Then Mission Space and Test Track. But wait….. I’m going to reveal this and trust that no one will call me stupid, gullible, or a dumb blond…... I read on the boards that if you exit the parks and come back in, when your ticket rescans, it lets you get another fast pass. Let’s try it, I say to Mr. Diz. He is totally not for it and doesn’t think it will work, plus we’re already in front of Test Track and it’s a long walk back. Well, Test Track and Mission Space both say they have a 20 minute wait, but we don’t believe Test Track because the line is wayyyyy out. It’s only about 9:40, so I am convinced they have not updated the time sign. I tell him I don’t think it will work, either, but I have to find out if it is true. If it is true, we get another fast pass. If it isn’t true, I get the satisfaction of knowing for sure and we get a little more exercise today. Besides, it can’t take that long, right?

We do it and Mr. Diz complains the entire time. Hamster keeps asking what we are doing? We keep telling him to quit asking questions. Girl just sits there and enjoys the ride.

We go through the gate again, rescan the cards, go back to Test Track and Mission Space. I tell Mr. Diz to go try for the fast pass with Girl, while I do Mission Space with Hamster. Mission Space says it has a 20 minute wait. We go for the Green – I won’t let Hamster do the orange. We’re on the ride in 5 minutes. We get off the ride and there is Mr. Diz waiting and Girl is actually asleep. SCREAMS OF JOY!!!!!!!!! WAHOOO! Life is much easier when Girl is asleep. AND GUESS WHAT!!??? The Fast Pass trick worked!!!!!!!!! But before all of you take your trips and try this fast pass trick, I must tell you one thing. It really didn’t work. I just thought the story would be better if it worked. So then I had to hear Mr Diz complain again that we wasted precious time. I tell him to chill out and I’ll get him a drink when we get to World Showcase.

Mr. Diz takes Hamster to the Test Track line. We’ll do the child swap. It says it is a 30 minute wait. So I go in the World of Disney shop while Girl sleeps in her Lime Green stroller. Then I head over to Test Track to wait for the guys. Mr. Diz called me on the phone after 30 minutes to say that they are only about halfway there, the ride keeps breaking down, do I want him to get out of line? No, I say. Keep waiting, it’s okay. Mr. Diz calls 30 minutes later to say the ride keeps breaking down and now they are at a point where they can not turn around. I say okay, Girl is awake now and we are just hanging out. She is not being bad because I’m just letting her have her way. She’s climbing in the cars and running around like a madtoddler. 30 minutes later, Mr Diz calls again to say they were next to get in a car and the ride broke down again. It was a total of 2 hours. Mr. Diz was really mad and complaining because when they fixed it, they let everyone who was already on the ride, ride it again because they had to sit on the ride while it was broken. Mr. Diz said at least they were sitting. He had to stand while it was broken. He thought they should have given him a fast pass freebie for another ride. We decided we would not do the parent swap. I bet you can guess there was a lot of complaining by Mr Diz.
