Casting - They outlined what they were looking for in the videos each year. It is a casting call. They are looking for a cast member - a real one this year that will be paid for appearances. Disney jobs are cast members who portray a role from the custodian to the singer.

Well, I for one, applied for a job. I submitted a video "resume" with the requested information. I followed the directions explicitly. The press release was clear:

Show Your DISNEY Magic
Beginning January 8 and continuing through January 27, interested applicants can visit www.DreamCMO.com and take the "Magic Aptitude Test" (M.A.T.) to see if they have what it takes to be the first-ever Disney Parks Chief Magic Official. Along with the results of the M.A.T., candidates will be asked to show their Disney magic by submitting a 60 second video resume - online at www.DreamCMO.com - which captures their personality and visually and verbally supports why they would make the ideal CMO. A magical panel of judges will select the top 10 video resumes, which will be posted to www.DreamCMO.com and voted on by America.

In the intrest of fairness here's some details about dre01SS...

Obviously, I found the same sites, only I opted not to put them here as I didn't feel it was appropriate.

I'm not terribly sure what that proves about the contest though. That someone lives in GA doesn't imply that he chose someone. He was only responsible to make sure they had received the videos. There was a different guy in charge of that last year.

I did not imply anything of the sort Kenny! All I stated was that I found it interesting.....nothing more than that. Please don't speculate for me, okay? And how would any of us know what his current role is with Career Builder anyway?? I never stated why I stopped searching. I simply stated that I was disheartened with this particular job search and CB in general.

Some are upset with the style of voting. Guys, we need to remember that those were the rules when each person entered. If we disliked the style of voting for example, we shouldn't have entered.

I can only speak for myself here, but I had NO IDEA how the voting would be conducted when I entered the contest. I would have expected that the site would work, that there would be explanations regarding if votes were really counting and consistantly updated candidate information. I myself, voted many many many times before I realized that my votes weren't even registering. I wonder how many others had that happen very innocently...not being able to verify how to vote through message boards?

Ok then.

My attorney is drawing up the papers - Vickie and I are going to adopt you! You are such a love and I love you muchly - Doo-Dah

I should really learn to read all the current posts before I hit 'submit reply'...........

Are you sure you are still feeling the love? I have been, ummmmmm, rather verbose.....again. :sad2:

Meggin, Cat, and CalDisney waiting for Nemo! :fish:

LOVE the T-Shirt! Who designed that awesome picture!!?!?!?!

I shoulda made one of mine for myself before I head out to Disneyland tomorrow! Dang!

I am SOOOO psyched to see these pictures Cat and tothesea. You have just absolutely made my day!!!!

Ann... I am touched by how much you care about the contest. I'm touched by how much you care about me and Mrs. Fleagle! I didn't take your posts as a negative toward the Top 3.

For everyone but the Top 10, our elimination from this contest was nothing short of a personal rejection. We were evaluated and found lacking. It stings us all in varying degrees. So we sometimes search for answers as to why we were not chosen.

The truth for me is that in a telephone conference between Orlando and Chicago, my name came up... and very personal things about me were discussed. How I look, how I speak, and more were held up to scrutiny. And then... they said no... not good enough. My name, and my dream, were placed in the rejection pile... and placed on a list to receive a bulk email that said "it was a tough choice..."

That hurts! My personal rejection was handled impersonally by a company that has meant a great deal to me personally. (I'm pretty sure that makes sense).

For the record, I don't have any problem with how the contest was run.. or with who was in the Top 10... and I'm thrilled for the Top 3. But I understand why someone who entered the contest and didn't advance at any level would look at some of the details and be disappointed in the execution. Disney has set the bar pretty high for themselves. Any little thing that isn't perfect seems like a HUGE blunder, because of their wonderful record.

Here is my test: If they do it again, will I be right back in there? 100% yes! Ann, I hope you will be too... your passion is incredible!!!

EDIT: didn't mean to imply that I have a problem with the Top 3 either... not only am I thrilled for them, I think its a great group!

Again, :grouphug: oh, and :grouphug:

Wow! You know me! You really know me! :rotfl2:

Amy, is that your sweet attempt to have me stuff something in my mouth to make me be quiet? Cause if it is, ask Ann'sDisneyMan, it doesn't seem to help.......popcorn:: See.......I can do both! ;)

Oh no, I'd NEVER ask you to be quiet....... You're way too much fun! ;)

Oatmeal? Raisin? Chewey? Chip your teeth? Amaretto? Bourbon balls?

Yes, please!!

See David standing in line for a churro eating popcorn

Pick your poison Mr. Autopia (funny how I still call you that)
I'll make you any cookies you like.....got a new oven you know! ;)

Hey, and speaking of churros....I had the WORST one ever today at the "other" park we visited today! Totally not delicious! :scared:

Ann, my reply was in regards to your post, but not intended to argue it. I love your wonderful presence here on the board! I hope you didn't take it in that way. I've just noticed that several people around the net feel like the contest was rigged or fixed or something. Again, not implying you felt that way.

I think you should be proud of your entry. You did great! I've told you that before. Please don't think I was slighting you or your entry.

I just know that Disney does start with a certain image in mind after seeing the ones they've chosen over 2 years of competition. They tend toward the peppy and the perky. That's why they put this stuff in the rules: Entertainment Value (0-20 points); Personality (0-20 points); Imaginative Presentation (0-20 points); Ability to Make People Laugh and Smile (0-20 points); and Passion for Disney (0-20 points).

At least with the Disneymoms panel they chose some people to represent a different cross section. The CMO ultimately is a PR position that is intended to milk more press and goodwill out for the sponsors throughout the year instead of just one weekend. The CMO himself will thoroughly enjoy it as Disney does things like this very well.
My apology if you felt that I was speculating for you. It did look like there was a connection being built between the guy and his residence. I just thought everyone should know who the guy was and all.

There are certainly points that we totally agree on.

I feel that the entry process of jamming the servers at the last moment shows they weren't prepared for the last day or two barrage of Disney fans who really wanted this opportunity. There should have been enough bandwidth to host everyone's entry and leave no doubt whether it was received or not. It's difficult to believe that when you can't see it, right?

After seeing it all play out I really feel for the Erics of the contest who were mentioned as Top 20 and summarily eliminated without voting. If I had a do over, I wouldn't have sought out all the top 20. That's why I backed off on predicting the top 3 and trying to dig it out for everyone, I knew I could be affecting someone's dream if it was reavealed.

I already agreed with you on the email thing too.

I do think that the individual pages with any updates were a giant leap forward from last year. Sure, it could be done better, but it was nice to go to dreamcmo.com/yournamehere and vote. Our pages were deeply buried into Careerbuilder's site and there was no way to explain verbally how to find it. It was nice to find out a little bit more about each person than just the video as well.

Question: You mentioned that your votes weren't registering. May I ask what happened there? I must have missed that in the 600+ pages of discussion. Did you enter the code and press ENTER instead of clicking the little button? That seems to be something that could have been fixed in the voting code, but I'm not a programmer.

Hey Mr. Fleagle,

Think I'm going to turn in. I would have told you in person but I thought we'd make another couple of posts so that it seems more "lively" for those who will certainly be checking in later tonight or tomorrow morning. So, are you ready to turn in?

Mrs.

Goodnight all my disboard family!

As in any 'real' family we may get bumps and bruises, and we may have a some different views (or sometimes the SAME views just expressed differently), and just maybe the good times and the bad times aren't in equal proportion....but you know what? I think that this "family" really is there for one another no matter what. I think that if I needed Ann she'd be here. If I needed TimothytheLurker to spy on my neighbor he'd do it, if I needed Justin to lend me an ear he would, and if I needed Kenny to find me a burried treasure so I could buy a matching refrigerator then he'd send me a map. Truth is, we've all got one very magical thing in common. Yet another thing to thank Disney for! :grouphug:

More tea and cookies? :flower3:

Goodnight!

Psst... Kenny, wasn't really kidding about that burried treasure. Any maps laying around?

To Kenny....thank you very much!

Yes, that is what I did, too many times.....because it then generated another code and so I just figured I was fine. Since I had not seen the 'thanks for voting' screen, I didn't know to even look for it.

Until I read it on here, I voted that way. I am somewhat computer savvy. Just made me wonder how many other people might have done this as well.

And thanks again Kenny.

Thanks for the cookies - love the new stove! Know anything about WeightWatchers?

BTW, I may be short and fat (see video) but no one has every photographed me snowboarding, on account of I am just a blurr.
