Travel update: in the magical express bus waiting to head to FQ!

Flights were easy, no probs. Met a really nice 1st timer family on the plane, and helped them find the ME checkin. Funny-when I said bye they said they were sure they'd see me in the parks. They are in for a surprise!

Thanks for the update! I love that feeling of anticipation when you get on the bus (emblazoned with DISNEY) on the side and you know you'll soon be seeing the billboards . . . . and then glimpses of the top of TOT . . . and then the gates onto property......

Thanks for the very informative posts on DVC. I know that my wife and I are NOWHERE near the point in life when we could consider that financial investment, but hopefully we will be someday!

I'm glad it was helpful for you. DVC is not for everyone and I highly don't suggest doing it if you can't afford to pay the initial investment up front. We were blessed in a situation where we HAD to sell some private stock when my DH left his old job...oh, darn! We used it for Disney.

Also, he said we'd need 210 points for our family...... we'd always need a two bedroom villa/suite. Still think it's a good investment? Hmmm

Thank you so much! I had that video stuck in my head and had to get it out and on tape. I think Donald is only going to endorse himself... and maybe cause some trouble for us 3 while in Disney World. I'm stearing clear of the boat. I don't want to all of the sudden just "disappear" from competition...

Had to exit quickly yesterday evening because people showed up for the meeting early. I didn't get home until really late, then couldn't really sleep, so I worked on some stuff that has to be done before I leave. I'm just about finished.

Oh... and I loved your tour videos on YouTube, Amy Kate. When the book takes off, you can use some of that capital to start your own TV show...

Thanks for the good info. That explains alot of my questions. Big decision for us, because we like snow resorts and Vegas too. I would have to see how much variety DVC offers.

Okay, everyone...drum roll please...

Both biological parents signed over their rights before we went into the courtroom. It was sad and hard. Lots of tears from all of us. They both wanted so much to raise her, but really and truly, she would not have been safe with them. In addition, she's developmentally delayed in speech and physical tasks, and neither parent would have realized that and been able to get her the help she needed. We're not perfect parents by any stretch of the imagination, but she will be safe and we'll provide every opportunity for her to reach her full potential. Besides that, she's in our hearts and we love her so much. We are now free to start adoption proceedings which will hopefully be completed by sometime this summer. Had I known that the prayers and pixie dust from this group would have produced such immediate and astonishing results, I would have asked for them long ago! Thanks to you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

I'm sorry to bring out the family photos, but I just can't resist one more. She's almost our little girl now.

SuzD: I'm just catching up on the thread and had to respond as SOON as I read this. That is sooooooooo wonderful! Our continued prayers (and praises!) are with you. She's an absolute sweetheart who is soon to be "officially" blessed with amazing new parents. Can't even put into words how happy we are for you all!

Hey all! I was just wondering. Has anyone else but me noticed that posting occurs on this thread nearly 24 hrs a day. Since the 1st thread was started back on 1/23/08, we've gone thru 3 threads, 585 pages, and 8751 posts. If my math is correct, that adds up to about 112 posts a day or 7.5 pages a day. Just in the last 5 days, we've gone thru 92 pages and 1368 posts ( 18 pgs./day and 273 posts/day.) I bet we're the busiest thread on the DIS boards!!!

While I was crunching the numbers, I came up with what I thought was a pretty cool idea. I noticed how our locations go from east to west, north to south and everywhere in between. If each of you wouldn't mind, if you would send me where you're located, I would like to map them all. I thought it would be cool for all of us to see how spread out this DISnee family is even though were are so close.

So, if you want to participate, just post what city you're in and I'll map it out and send everyone a copy. You don't have to be too specific if you don't want to. A general area would be fine just as long it's something I could map.

Yep, the bigger the family, the more points you will need!! And if you can only travel in summer (won't pull kids out of school), then you'll need even more points since your trips will cost more than a husband/wife who can go in September.

I'll send you a PM with the info on our points and how much it's going to "cost" us in May and you'll see that 210 points really is the MINIMUM...I'd suggest more if you want to use it every year. It would be fine if you only want to use it every other year.

When I talked to our financial advisor about this, he asked me one question: Will you use it?

As far as the extra $317 -- will that hurt your family?

If YES, you will use it and NO it really won't hurt your family, then I say go for it.

Yep, they have over 500 worldwide destinations and the other non-DVC places are really nice ones (selected by DVC folks and the ones I've seen are really neat). They don't have tons and tons in any one city...just a few nice ones.

If there are any particular cities you want me to check out for you, I can PM you the names of the resorts that DVC trades with.

Ladies and Gentleman of this thread, let me introduce Jennifer, wife of Anthony whom I work with here at Star 94. A huge Disney Family. It's actually pretty funny when Anthony, Scott (who is in Disney World right now) and I get together and talk Disney. We are three middle-aged guys who get so excited sharing our Disney stories. We have often talked about, but have yet to execute a plan, going on a Disney cannonball: a road trip down and back in a day. I'd have to stay two days though. They wouldn't be able to drag me out of the park when it was time to leave.
