Well, being 25 years ago, I dont remember, but looking at it I think it may say "Whistler"

That was a frivolous question, I guess, but it's always fun (or funny!) to spot the trends from certain eras! (... Like shoulder pads and big, crunchy bangs in the eighties! )

DH and I did the DVC tour once, just after Saratoga Springs opened.... it was fun. We have a condo down in the Metrowest area and I keep trying to convince him that we should sell it and buy DVC and he wants to hear nothing of it. But here we are a few years later with the housing market in the dumps and the condo association fees starting to go sky high. Sometimes I want to say "I told you so"...... I am a brat, I freely admit that.

I'm Northern Virginia, near Dulles Airport (west of Washington, DC)...not sure how specific you wanted!

That is just fine. I can use your location as Dulles Airport. That is a big enough landmark to find on a map. I was leaving it up to each individual as to how specific they wanted to be. I figured some people wouldn't want to name a specific city for privacy reasons.

Hey all! I was just wondering. Has anyone else but me noticed that posting occurs on this thread nearly 24 hrs a day. Since the 1st thread was started back on 1/23/08, we've gone thru 3 threads, 585 pages, and 8751 posts. If my math is correct, that adds up to about 112 posts a day or 7.5 pages a day. Just in the last 5 days, we've gone thru 92 pages and 1368 posts ( 18 pgs./day and 273 posts/day.) I bet we're the busiest thread on the DIS boards!!!

While I was crunching the numbers, I came up with what I thought was a pretty cool idea. I noticed how our locations go from east to west, north to south and everywhere in between. If each of you wouldn't mind, if you would send me where you're located, I would like to map them all. I thought it would be cool for all of us to see how spread out this DISnee family is even though were are so close.

So, if you want to participate, just post what city you're in and I'll map it out and send everyone a copy. You don't have to be too specific if you don't want to. A general area would be fine just as long it's something I could map.

You can post your info, pm it to me or email it to me at madbrad76@cathie1.com. Which ever you feel comfortable with.

No one has ever heard of the town I live in, so we'll just say Atlanta, GA!!

I've been to two terminations of the parents' rights of foster kids, both for sexual abuse, all of the children very young. You are correct, it is difficult for all involved. I was a Court Appointed Special Advocate before I became MFT. My thoughts are with you and with your love for this child.

David, my hat is tipped to your time as a CASA. It was the CASA in this case who ultimately helped steer the dad in this direction. He had been fighting it all along (and there was some history in his past of sexual misconduct). Just when it appeared I couldn't think more highly of you, I find this out. Your stock has just skyrocketed. :worship:

Thanks for your good thoughts.

Okay, everyone...drum roll please...

Both biological parents signed over their rights before we went into the courtroom. It was sad and hard. Lots of tears from all of us. They both wanted so much to raise her, but really and truly, she would not have been safe with them. In addition, she's developmentally delayed in speech and physical tasks, and neither parent would have realized that and been able to get her the help she needed. We're not perfect parents by any stretch of the imagination, but she will be safe and we'll provide every opportunity for her to reach her full potential. Besides that, she's in our hearts and we love her so much. We are now free to start adoption proceedings which will hopefully be completed by sometime this summer. Had I known that the prayers and pixie dust from this group would have produced such immediate and astonishing results, I would have asked for them long ago! Thanks to you all for your prayers and good thoughts.

I'm sorry to bring out the family photos, but I just can't resist one more. She's almost our little girl now.

Woo-Hoo! Congtratulations Suz! She's one lucky angel! :lovestruc

Good morning everyone! *yawn, stretch* Ahh, that feels better. Another busy day. I'm just popping in with my morning diet coke. :drinking1 Going for a special celebratory lunch at our Japanese Hibachi place with my DD's (that is so much fun to say...my girls, my daughters, the kids, mom of two, etc. etc. ad nauseum), and then DD 12 has an eye dr. appt this afternoon. I have scrapbooking club at my house tonight (wish you were here Marshay, 10 ladies are coming and I have a fantastic 2 page layout for them to make) so I'll be back late tonight. DH is out of town and I'm looking forward to an evening of catching up on posts and "visiting" with everyone around the outdoor fireplace tonight. I'm bringing kettle corn popcorn:: for everyone.

Great idea MadBrad...that would be fun!
Fleagles are in Yorktown, Virginia (where independence was won!)

Marshay -

Thanks for all the DVC info! Eric said you did send it back during his trip report I believe? But he doesn't think he still has it. So thanks for posting it, it will be very helpful! :)

Amy

First -- let me say it's 2am and I'm not usually up this late...so I'll double-check this post in the morning and may amend then...or Tripp and whomever else has DVC, please chip (or chirp) in!

And if you do contact DVC or Jeff, please tell them I sent you

Just went back to read this again -- wanted to say, this is not a post to solicit anything from you...however, if my post helped you, then that is good. I wish someone had written up something like this when I was looking!:goodvibes

No problem! I actually went back through it last night and added more info -- think it is now twice as long as the original version!:rotfl:

I'll call you Kenny to get your address and I will send it out directly! And I'd love an autographed photo pirate: Can your family use T-shirts? They're great for eating ice cream in. (In my best Homer Simpson voice: Mmmm Kitchen Sink.)
Chelsea's "vote for Amy Kate" shirts are full of chocolate stains. She ate a few Mickey Bars in those shirts.
(In my best Homer Simpson voice agian: Mmmm Mickey Bars.)

My fam would love the T-shirts. Drop me an email and I'll forward my cell #.

i might suggest wearing the helmet full-time, mr. muchoney, sir.

love,
meggin

yes, perhaps you should wear gloves in case the towel detergent or paint induce an allergic reaction to your skin.

you never can be too careful....i'll be certain to follow you around with some antibacterial soap and bandages :)

love,
meggin

Meggin, you're making me :rotfl: . That is just too funny!
I'm still waiting on my first assignment from Tripp. I hope it doesn't involve folding clothes. I dislike that job.

Yikes! (It was either a typo, or someone meant for "you" to read "y'all. ...Sort of a blanket statement to the masses: "We regret to inform you folks who have not been selected..." More personalized "love" to soften the blow. )

After we launch our own contest-fulfillment company (threeguysandagal suggested the name "CONTESTS 'R US"), we should publish a book entitled "Everybody Needs an Editor: A Cautionary Tale" ;)

Will vote fer loot?

That was a fascinating post! Thanks for cruching the numbers . . .

Put me down (if you can find it) in Seven Fields Pennsylvania. It's about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Thanks!

Travel update: in the magical express bus waiting to head to FQ!

Flights were easy, no probs. Met a really nice 1st timer family on the plane, and helped them find the ME checkin. Funny-when I said bye they said they were sure they'd see me in the parks. They are in for a surprise!
ttfn!
