And Ann - I totally agree with you - just don't have time to put it into words, so thanks for laying it down for us both.

I really am disappointed in the lack of professionalism exhibited in this contest - not by the contestants - but the sponsors.

ttyl,
Cathie

I am going to "Plugola" my Tripp Photo Biography book that I am putting together here. :lmao:

Cat, Tripp was really touched by your Ducky Ambassador of Georgia proclamation...really. He took the award to heart and my camera was on hand to capture his first official act.

Dearest David........this email is one horrible excuse for followup from a placement agency. Marketing or not. They had to send out SEVEN emails like this....SEVEN! IF they reused the email they sent the 20 to 10 contestants, well, that is INEXCUSABLE!

They had their out......all they had to write was it was simply based on votes.....bla bla bla.....or there were over 500,000 votes and unfortunately bla bla bla.....

To include the words "decision" and "determine" and then "selected" bothers me beyond words.

At the risk of having you repeat yourself, did you say when you received this email????

I was talking to my husband about this very issue today (regarding placement agencies and headhunting). Career Builders had over 1300 potential employees to place.......A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE OF OVER THIRTEEN HUNDRED PEOPLE!!! All were applying for a job. Now only three are eligible for that job. I wonder how many of the more than 1,297 remaining applicants are still interested in having Career Builder's help them?!

When I sold "people" to companies, I was only as good as the potential employees I represented. No matter how good a salesperson I was to get the job order (position or contract), I had to interview and pre-screen and KNOW that I had the best applicant to present for the job. It was my job to identify talent. No better way to do that then to secure a large applicant pool to represent. Small applicant base, obviously a lower percentage of good fits so to speak. So again, I was only as good as the people who wanted me to go to work for them!

I am so troubled by your email David. You deserved much, much more from them for the potential that you brought to their company alone. Notice I am not placing the responsibility on Disney? They hired Career Builders, they went to the professional in hiring. Hmmm.......especially after reading about the followup email.......I would not feel confident having them represent me at this point.

Same feeling for the website. If you hire IT Professionals then prove that you have them.....make your site work. Hear this loud and clear, THE VERY SAME 1300 APPLICANTS COULD ALSO POTENTIALLY BE 1300 EMPLOYERS WHO NEED TO FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT THE PLACEMENT AGENCY THEY USE!!! See how that works??? They need to use the captive audience they have and tap into ALL the potential we possess!!!

As Nemo said, "I AM READY!" Please call me Career Builders, I would love to see you make this right for the contestants who didn't advance with this job opportunity.....because honestly, you never know where your next JOB ORDER or who your next potential EMPLOYEE will be!

David, hope you can read through the lines, I come off as so very subtle! Love you!!!!! Ann(ie)

Go, Ann!!! Me, too. Except I would have been characteristically quiet in how I vented, even though I feel louder! Like Marshay, I really appreciate your energy. Thanks for shouting it out.

Annie, I love you so much! What great spirit you have! I got the email today about 12:30 PM.

You are my hero!!!! Love, David

*sound of Ann yelling to her DisneyMan.....HONEY GET ME THE PHONE!!! I am calling Career Builders*

David, please tell me that I did not just read that you got that email today?!

I am even more disheartened than before. David THAT was the first contact that you have had with them since the end of voting?????

I, honestly, am at a loss for words..........odd for me yes.......my jaw is literally on the floor.

Sorry, we're all down in the basement in the theater watching the basketball tournament
Us too! Memphis is my (and DH's) Alma Mater.

Annie, I love you so much! What great spirit you have! I got the email today about 12:30 PM.
I can't believe they waited until 3:30pm EDT to tell the other 7, after the news had been announced just after midnight. I agree with some of you that things have been done pretty unprofessionally.

Very sweet of you to post that David! After I picked my jaw up off of the floor, I read your post again.....thank you for the sweet words!

Right back at ya David (and Vickie and Karen and baby Annie -- alright Farron)

Hi there everyone.....

Been popping in to see what's going on..... I KNEW Ann would have something to chew on when she got ahold of this bit of news. ;) Oh how I just love to see you go OFF! You're MY Wonder Woman! :thumbsup2

Getting ready to call it a night....just finished booking a special trip.
No - not to Disney. (shock and awe)

I'm taking my 11 year old to New York City in June to see some broadway shows, take some classes, and just have some "girl" time. It was fun booking it, I really needed a momentary relief from this contest. I am left so unimpressed. :sad2:

"Night everyone"

Wonder Fleagle tip toes to HMF's room :tiptoe: to give him one more hug for his worries.... Quick stop in Ann's room to leave her some honorary wrist bands, slips a note under the door to Cathie wishing her a fantastic trip and a jesture to Mr. Autopia :flower3: just because! ;)

Goodnight Amy........thanks for knowing me well enough to know that I would definitely have an opinion and air it!

Oh, and I used to work in NYC and am quite the Broadway fan.......so we can chat anytime (get tickets to Wicked).

I am signing off too......too disappointed to stay here for another 2 am night.

Goodnight Everyone!!! Thanks for letting me vent! I always have your backs! :grouphug:

Good night Ann. Wishing you non-disappointing dreams. :)

Goodnight Haunted, an extra special prayer for you and your family tonight :grouphug: ! Try and rest well, ok?

one last thing...may i still have a room here, too? i know that i'm late to the move-in party, but i'm willing to share the attic or basement....

love,
meggin

Hi Meggin! Welcome Back! :goodvibes We definitely missed you! You may have already found a roomate (as I'm still catching up on the thread from this morning), but if not...I would LOVE to bunk with you. I know your pixie dust would cheer both of us up and I'd bring some animated friends along to help us keep our room clean. Whadd'ya think? :flower3:

Back in the earlier days of radio.. but still pretty recent, record companies would pay for DJs to play their artists music. Being a DJ in a big, important like Atlanta could be very lucrative in those days. For instance, in a recent scandal, record execs were calling DJs and asking them how many "CDs" of a certain record they needed. This was code for "How many $100 bills will it take to get you to play my artist's record on your station"

This is called "payola" and its now outlawed. The other thing that is banned is called "plugola" which is pretty much the same thing, but involves on-air mentions of products. Most radio and television companies require employees to sign a "Payola and Plugola" affadavit each year. This is to try and ensure that the DJs aren't using the airwaves to advertise companies that are not paying for the airtime.

So... Tripp can't talk about the contest on the air, because Disney has not paid for those mentions.

The definition for Plugola states that the person plugs goods or services that they have a financial interest in.

Plus it states that it is legal only when (1) station management is made aware of the nature and extent of the employees interest that is being promoted and (2) required over-the-air sponsorship identification is given.

Seems to me that even if you considered this a financial interest that if full disclosure is given to the station they have the discretion to O.K. the on-air mention of the contest.

Hey guys! I have A LOT of catching up to do, but I wanted you to know that I'm back on for a bit tonight . . . (not too long though, I'm tired!)

Time to read 18 pages really quickly!

uh oh... I think I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque. All I see are purple roses and red doors. I must be in the wrong wing...
You can stay up in the attic if you want.... plenty of room up here. Besides.... I want to bury the hatchet.... and so does the bride up here. Hahahahahahaha :rotfl:

Get it? Hatchet? Bride? Headless husbands? I live in the attic now? I'm not trying to kill Tripp people.

And thank you for the kind words earlier Tripp....
