The Top Gear Discussion Thread

<Rant mode on>
yet another Anti-American rasict piece of rubbish from those pathetic idiots on Top Gear.
How about if some Americans came over here and drove through parts of London with anto gay, anti balck crap on their cars, would that be funny? no.

How many gun crimes do we have in our civilised UK? How many of you would walk though certain parts of UK cities at night or even during the day?

What about if Americans called us all thick, bad teeth overweight chavs? would that be funny?

Pathetic programme
<rant mode off>

Sorry that you had a bad time Kenobi.. But.. (And I am trying to keep neutral here), they are only reporting facts. There ARE people in America that are like they described in the programe. BUT, what they haven't said is that there ARE people in America that are considerate, nice, thoughtful, intelligent, at their correct weight, have good teeth, are against guns, are pro gay/black rights and love all the people on earth etc etc. Why, the whole point of going to WDW year after year is to see such people (I am talking about the characters and cast members, but I am sure that the park patrons are hopefully like that too).

And as you said, there are places and people here that are bad. But... There are many places on earth that are bad. It's a bit like Yin and Yang; bad can't exist without some good in the world and vice versa. We just try to get on with life hoping not to become bad in anyway and we also try to see the good in people. Like us and this programme per instance.

The Guys on top gear are ignorant I know, but that's mostly Jeremy talking. We all know that this show is ignorant of other people, heck, they got lots of complients when Jeremy poked fun at Gay people on another show. But as I said, there is some truth in their words. They don't normally mean to offend anyone, they are just the people who have plucked enough courage to speak the truth. The only reason why I DON'T speak like them, is because I am actually kinda naive and I believe that the world is a nice place afterall, when in some cases it actually isn't..

If you are annoyed with the programe, there are 2 things you can do. 1) Turn the TV off and then 2) Send the BBC another complient. Perhaps, one day, they might be able to convince Clarkson to shut his gob and NOT tell it how it is..

The Truth hurts doesn't it??? :(

I missed it, as I was booking my holiday, will watch the repeat though:)

It was hilarious :rotfl:

I also thought it was good they way they finished on a serious note on the state New Orleans is still in following Katrina.

Do you think they really ate Roadkill? I doubt it somehow. I feel sorry for the farmer who lost his cow though!

Laughed the whole way through. :lmao:

I think the part where they tried to get shot, although very funny, was a bit stupid and doesn't set a very good example to any children watching (it is before the watershed). Taunting people isn't very nice and although the Americans should have "turned the other cheek" and not thrown stones at them they were within their rights to not serve them any petrol.

Looking forward to next weeks episode.

Hey guys. Some info. Highlight and read at your own expence:

This week they are building a rocket. How cool is that?! :lmao:

Also, it's not Bille this week, but Simon Pegg... Aww......

The truth is Clarkson is a ****. Could you tell me what he "courageously" said about gay people? Last night he tarred the entire Southern States of the US with pathetic, cheap jibes. I suggest you go over to the Community Board where people are having an exchange on bigoted views of their area of the country, and tell them there is "some truth" in what's being said about them.

Oh, and Jeremy "really" did beat a plane back to Britain, and that caravan "really" exploded, and they "really" were attacked by locals in Alabama. It's the truth, Jeremy said so.

Reminder: Top Gear repeat is on tonight.

Oh, and I normally try to ignore this kind of comment, but I think this might be an appropreiate comment to make:

3. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction.

Ignore what kind of comment? A legitimate question about Jezza's homophobic remarks? Wether it's right to call around 80 million people backward and racist? You claim to have had contact in the US with people from the States Clarkson poked fun at, to which you said they were all perfectly fine people, but rather than back your own judgement you deceide to believe Clarkson's usual pathetic attempt at social commentary.

If you can't respond to someone asking legitimate questions about the comments you make without hiding behind the rules of the forum, don't make those comments, or better still, save them for TalkSport or the Mail On Sunday's letters page.

Clarkson is a nasty piece of work and it is sad that in todays society that is seen as "entertainment" calling people from another country thick and fat, stating that they must be mating with vegetables. Soo not funny.
But then, I found him decidedly unfunny from the day that he was party to thousands of motor workers in this country losing their jobs because these same people who find his pathetic racist (yes, racist) comments entertaining, also felt he knew what he was talking about when it came to vehicles built in this country. He doesn't give a damn whose jobs he puts in jeaopardy with his inane comments and "pranks"

So, people who have never been to the USA watches that so called entertainment and decides that they won't go to the south or even Florida as they will throw rocks at you etc.. and yet again Clarkson has had an effect on this time the tourist industry of the South and the jobs in that industry, whilst Clarkson gets paid thousands of our licence payers money for mocking another country.

I have to say Top Gears show on Miami was probably the best one i have ever seen and i was rolling about with lafter .... The hick scene in the petrol station was buttock clenching and i have to be fair whoever thought of that dare even though it was funny,,, research was not done there.. But fair play to the 3 of them for being game ;)

Top Gear is a must ,and for people who take Clarkson seriously ..Have lost the point...He does send up himself and hes person who gets you talking and to that he is a master whether you agree or disagree with him ...

:thumbsup2

Reminder, the next episode of the series is on tonight.

It looks very interesting, and apparantly, the non car thing for tonight takes place where my great grandmother was born. :)

Thanks for the reminder Matt

I saw a clip last night, and it looks good, I may be wrong but I'm sure there was a Reliant Robin looking like a Space Shuttle - it should be fun

Mandy :)

BTW ~ This thread is for the fans of Top Gear, and for those that actually watch the show. Could we please refrain from turning this into an 'I hate Jeremy Clarkson' thread. If you watch the show and wish to comment on it - then fine, let people make their comments, but don't use this thread just to argue with others

Thanks :thumbsup2

So... What did everyone think?? :)

The Rocket was cool! I thought for a moment what was going to happen.. I was surpised it got off the ground, but also surpised that it turned from a rocket to a missile, to a bomb in about 5 seconds.. :rotfl2:

How much money do you reckon they lost on that???? I mean, there was the rocket building, the space rental, and the costs they had to endure after destroying that bit of countryside.. :lmao:

Simon Pegg was alright. Thought it was weird that they are now plugging stuff on the show.. Weird.. Oh well.. Thought his force moment was funny though.. Same the rest of his jokes aren't.. :lmao:

Other than that, not much to comment on. Mostly lots of cars..... I just stared at my nails until it was over... :lmao: How did everyone else fair with it?? :)

Um.... If you forgot to watch the show....... The repeats on now

Sorry guys.. :( Too busy at UEA. If you hurry now you can just about see the Rocket bit now. If not, you can always watch it on Saturday. :)
