the times of change

We recently returned from our 3rd Disney trip with our boys, now ages 10 and 14. The first time we went they were about 4 & 7. One memory I have is the first morning there we had breakfast at Ohanas and had a great view of the castle. We sat down to breakfast and the boys were in awe of seeing that castle. It was their first experience there and the breakfast was so fun with the characters and getting autographs and then we took the monorail to MK and they were just so excited. They were holding hands walking into MK and the oldest said to the youngest "Can you believe we're here?". It was just so sweet. There are so many great memories. Now that they are older, we have fun because it's just easier as older kids are easier (in some ways ;) . No one getting overtired or cranky or too little/afraid for some of the rides. We just go, go all day and well into the night and just have such a wonderful time together as a family  . Something we don't get enough of the "real" world.

i dont know bout gratest memory, but my greatest souvineer i came back from wdw from, came nine months later in the form of a daughter called amber:love:

We've gone reguarly since 1975 for our honeymoon,:hippie: first trip with kids we stayed at the campground, always on site from then on. 3 Boys.

Favorite memory was the Hunchback breakfast at MGM, my youngest was so excited to see the characters and would throw his arms around their knees and hug them. Jafar came to the table, and DS3 hugged him, and completely in character, Jafar drew himself up and shook a long scary finger in our direction. Interpreting, my DH said "Of course, you don't like children do you?"
He reached to the table, took a blue crayon and snapped it in half! The Boys thought this was the greatest thing. "He broke our crayon!" "It was the only blue one!" "Did you see that?" He really is a Villan!!!

Our latest trip in may was the graduation celebration for DS3, now 18, along with oldest brother 26 and his wife. Stayed in the FW cabins, had a wonderful time, brought up the crayon story, and the highlight of the kids trip this time was surfing at TL. Should mention that we have always dressed alike on family trips, and the new DIL loved the themed tshirts.

For us WDW is an ageless adventure!

I'm adding to my earlier post above. If we are talking about changing times... here's a change. On this last trip, there were 2 teenage girls flirting with my son in the pool one evening. That is something that did not happen before! And the funniest part to me was the fact that his mom was sitting in a chair right there watching the whole thing. Of course the girls didn't know that. And my son, who was with his younger brother, just seemed kind of embarrassed :lmao: It was kind of funny to watch.

Great topic! I was just thinking about this idea of change as I booked my upcoming trip at the BCV for the F&WF. We stayed at the YC for our first family of 4 trip on site over 11 years ago and I have wanted to go back ever since! At that time my kids were 1 and 5 yrs old. My son did not get to experience Stormalong Bay to the fullest (being the baby) but my daughter sure did. She got lost on her father's watch while I was in the room with my son. I'll never forget the phone call from a CM who had my daughter with him at the pool safe and sound but the only thing I could think of to ask is "Where's her father?" LOL I was imagining all kinds of horrible things but we were all reunited very quickly thanks to the quick actions of this particular CM. We laugh about it now and it is a funny/fond memory but I am certainly hoping there will be no missing children this trip since they are now 12 and 16!
We have taken many trips in between now and then, staying at least once a year and on site most of the time. It will be fun to revisit the 'scene of the crime' so to speak!

I can totally relate to that! On our trip last month, we were riding the escalator to the TTA in MK and I hear a young, male voice crack and say "And how are you this evening sir? Enjoying your time at the magic kingdom?" I turned and see a young man of about 14 blushing bright red, and my dad just nodded to him and smiled at me. The story as I understand it is that my dad caught this young man staring at my daughter, who was standing next to me ahead of him on the escalator. When my Dad kind of smiled at him and nodded as if to say, "that girl is one of mine" the boy got flustered and responded as above LOL I thought it was adorable. But I'm not used to my daughter getting this attention she's only 11 but looks about 14 and it's only going to get worse from here! LOL

Thanks for the great stories! Your story about your boys holding hands when they were younger walking in to MK brought tears to my eyes!
