The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room??

I only went once, and while I didn't "hate" it, I remember being bored. Of course, this was several years ago so maybe I should give it another shot. The only part I remember really liking was the windows around the room.

Does anyone know how long the Tiki show is? 20 min or so? Just curious.

Thanks for all the replies! I will have to see this on my next trip. I love the song - it cracks me up. And I think I will be singing along when I'm there! I'm glad to hear that it is a sit down attraction with AC - that makes it nice for hot weather and rain!

Hehehe... I just thought about this. I love the Flights of Wonder show at AK but I know I could never take my step-father to see it (he's terrified of birds - traumatized as a child) but I bet I could convince him to see the Tiki Room show!

I can see how people like the original compared to the new management version. If you've never seen the original then the new one is probably great, but if you're a fan of the original then the new one can never measure up.

The Tiki Room is on my list of things to do!

I went to disney 20 yrs ago and remember the bird sing "lets go to the TIki room, the Tiki room" is that still what he says? We went last year and skipped this...but if it is KINDA the same we might go for a little mom nostalgia! How will a 16, 15, 12 and 8 yr old enjoy this?

Crazy4mandms --

It is "kinda the same" -- the same enough for the nostalgic feeling. I say go for "a little mom nostalgia" on your next trip!

To tell you the truth, I saw this when I was about 10 or 12, and then again when I was thirty-something. Definitely a blast from
the past, even "under new managament!" Quite honestly, I don't remember enough details to be disappointed. It pretty much looks and feels the same to me, except that now Iago & Zazu are part o fthe show, which of course they weren't when I was a kid....

Hope that helps. Enjoy!!

OK so I am a little obsessed with this one.

I thought I was the only one, I am glad to see a showing of folks here who love the Tiki Room.

Ever since I was little my entire family has hated this show and I was the only one who wanted to see it so I go and they go to something else and we meet up later. I don't care though! Now my DD6 and I go and my DH does his thing.

I do however prefer the Disnyland "original?" version. The WDW is OK but a classic never gets old!

I do not prefer the "original," still available in Disneyland. We went last year. Sat on individual chairs and that song "Let's all sing like the birdies sing" goes on FOREVER. The Under New Management is much better in my opinion. DH doesn't like either, but will go to humor me, for sitting down, and AC. And then it's close to Aloha Isle for Dole Whips LOL

I actually like both shows. For those that are newer, The Tiki room is original to Disneyland long before WDW was around. I don't remember if it was an opening day attraction or not, but it was very early on and actually part of the innovation proccess in creating audioanimatronics.

It is not my favorite, but it is one of the few things I actually remember from the first time I visited Disneyland in the mid-60's when I was 2.

I used to work at the Tiki Room last summer! I never saw the original but I think the new one is fun- which I suppose is a good thing because I had to watch it over and over. hehehe. The music is very catchy. I used to do a mambo to it as the guests were exiting. :)

My favorite line is when Iago says "No more worries!" and Zazu says "Where I come from that's called Hakuna Matata." and then Iago replies "Hunky Tuna Toastada? What a stupid phrase!" It always got the biggest laugh.

Here's a little tibit- if you are slow at exiting, you hear some funny stuff from Iago. Very few guests hear his closing line- "I'm tired. I think I'll head over to the Hall of Presidents and take a nap."

A funny story- once I was working Tiki theatre and the show had just let out. The exit doors were open and the birds were moving around and the music was playing. This teenage boy walks in through the exit doors, stares up at all the birds, and asks"Is this a bar?"
