You're kidding. That is not exactly a personal attack IMO. It's more of a slap upside the head to a misbehaving child.

I'm not up in arms about it. People start threads about things all the time. I started this one. I saw a thread on another board and brought it over here. Happens all the time.

Why did you bother posting in this thread therefore calling more attention to it?

You were upset about it enough to comment to him on that thread and to start a brand spanking new one about awful it is here.

Yeah. I felt attacked. Please everybody stop and leave me be. I don't have a problem with you not liking what I'm doing, you are entitled to your opinion. But just don't come to the teen board like that. It makes you seem creepy and/or pathetic to a lot of people.

Ok. One more thing to answer this person's question. Hopefully it wasn't rhetorical or I'll look silly but I don't have a problem with people wanting me to sleep. I get that. I just have a problem with people going all over the dis complaining and trying to get the thread shut down. That's all really.

Ok so I accidentaly clicked on the teen board and saw a thread by some kid who started out trying to stay awake for 48 hours. As of now, he's at 147 hours! That is insane, unhealthy and attention-seeking, IMO. Seriously at some point he has to realize how dangerous it is, right?

What a shame. I know teenagers often do foolish things, but I'd like to think that most parents would at least step in if they saw their kids doing something like that. People have actually died of sleep deprivation. In fact I think the most recent record for sleep deprivation was actually removed from the Guinness Book of World Records partly because they didn't want to be responsible for encouraging people to do something that stupid and dangerous.

But on the other hand, this is the internet. And people do say all sorts of things on here, whether they are true or not. Another part of the reason the record was removed was the fact that it's so difficult to verify without actually monitoring people's brainwaves the whole time, since people do sleep without realizing it. Given that, I suspect the teen isn't in too much danger of dying from sleep deprivation. If I had my own message board, I don't think I'd allow a thread like that to stay on the board. I can just envision a case where angry parents sued a message board owner for allowing a thread where people are encouraging the teen to engage in dangerous behavior, if the teen ended up dead as a result of that behavior. In fact, I could swear I remember hearing about a case like that, but maybe I'm imagining it.

If this is the dumbest thing this kid does, he is leaps and bounds ahead of me at that age. Looking back, I am amazed that I survived my teen years.
