The Swan to Universal...help!

What are the options for transportation from The Swan to Universal Studios?

There will be 4 of us (2 eighteen year olds, 1 seventeen year old, and 1 fifteen year old).

Is a taxi the only option? If so, how do we arrange a pickup at Universal? Anyone know a good taxi service and prices?

Renting a car works if you also want to do some outlet shopping oops I just re-read your post and I don't think you can get a decent rate-- call whatever towcar company is taking you from the airport to your hotel.

Taxi is going the cost you the same amount as getting a towncar - about $60 round trip. This is a little more expensive than you getting the Mears transport to and from the parks ($12 p/p r/t, but you have to follow the Mears schedule). The only thing about a towncar that I don't like is that you have to have a relatively set time to pick up and drop off. With a taxi you can wander around to your hearts content with no schedule. That may be nice if you want to check out City Walk after going to the park. There are a lot of cool stores there to shop at and a lot of nice restaurants for not that much money. There are taxi stands right by the parking garage at Universal and you can catch a taxi right outside your hotel.

The "taxis" waiting at S/D are Mears towncars. Not sure of the pricing. OP may want to book a private cab (or walk to one of the Disney EPCOT resorts) for the trip to Universal.
