The Stowaway Diaries: Mistakes, Retakes & Double Takes Update 4/30

Hi again guys. It's time for me to give you another wonderful update of life with Faith on vacation.

I left you with her umbrella/pole antics. After all of that fretting, the group is ready for lunch. Faith had ADR's for Sci Fi. I know, I know. It's loathed by the minions (credit once again to AUdis for that word) of dissers but Faith likes the place. She's from the era when those movies were actually popular.

I think the place looks pretty interesting myself.

So the group gets their little car.

Everyone orders burgers, fries and shakes with sides of onion rings. Except Faith. Now she's trying to be a good peep so she orders a turkey sandwich with a side salad and an iced tea. Disney's attempt to provide healthy choices. Well, everyone loves their burgers. And the shakes are excellent.
And then there's Faith's sandwich:

101_0126.jpg

Get a good look at that salad. It had unripe watermelon, cucumber and red onion. Does anyone think that makes a good combination? And the bread on that sandwich had to have been baked sometime during WWII. Just terrible. Once again I realize I'm traveling with the wrong person. Faith can't stomach this food either and she's pretty depressed that everyone else ordered good burgers.

I got lucky though. Mo couldn't finish his onion rings and I was able to jump out and snag it pretty quickly.

After this feast, Faith decides she needed something to cheer her up. What would work? Well of course, a meet and greet with her old pal from Monsters Inc. Vik has no idea who Sully is but Faith says "trust me". Mike rolls his eyes and decides to head off to find a churro stand. Mo decides a Mickey ice cream sounds better than another character line. So it's just Faith and Vik and several of their closest toddler friends standing in line for Sully to open his door. Faith pulls out her compact and lipstick and starts refreshing. She looks over and Vik is doing the same thing. Faith starts laughing out of control. Vik asks what's wrong and Faith explains that here they are, 2 women in their 50's, standing in a line where the next oldest person is 4 years old, and they are getting all dolled up to take their picture with an 8ft blue hairy monster. That got Vik laughing too and they started feeding off of each other's laughter. I wish I could have crawled out of that lanyard and went anywhere else. I'm sure the parents waiting with their children are still talking about the lipstick ladies from that day.

The ladies were happy with the pics though:

After meeting Sully, the group does a few more attractions. Faith finally finds the perfect person to Share a Pin with. She is this cute little 5 year old girl in a Tink costume. Faith says she thought of her friend, Kari's, DD when she saw her. The little girl is thrilled to get this Tink pin and it makes Faith feel like a big shot. All is right with the world.

As the afternoon wears on, Vik and Mike are very tired. Vik says her tennis shoes are killing her and she's switching to Easy Stride shoes for the next day. Faith just smiles and points at her crocs. She knows better.

The group decides a short break at the condo before dinner will be great. Now, will dinner be any better than lunch? And will they see anything more amazing than Wishes?

You met Sully! I'm so jealous! I'm cracking up at the lipstick story!

So Sharon, did anyone find it odd that Faith stuck you in the middle of an onion ring and took you picture? How'd the hubbies like you taging around?

Sorry about the yucky order at Sci Fi. How did the others like their food?

Keep up the good writing Sharon.

Sharon - did Faith actually eat that thing called a salad? that looks really yucky!!

You look like you had fun in that onion ring -- did you take it on the lazy river? I'm thinking you could have had a nice long float on that!

Man, I would've had to order a milkshake to make up for that crappy looking food. Me, I had the salad with steak there. Yummy. And a shake....even yummier.

And from one Tink's mommy.....way to go on the pin! Someone gave Kaitlyn that pin while she was dancing ballet in her tink costume at Epcot....she felt SO special....(yes, I will do a tr....)

OOO Old Spice! Do me a favor. If we meet up at DL, don't wear the Old Spice. I find it powerful stimulatin', and might embarrass myself.;)

I've been going back and forth about trying to book the Sci-Fi for my imaginary trip in Sept. Is it that bad?

Cute that the girls put on their lipstick for Sully. :cutie:

We've gotta nail Vik down and make her watch some Disney movies! :3dglasses

OH! And the glowtini picture is from Kona. Not long after the siggie picture was taken, my son reached his filthy little paw into my glowtini and took my glow cube....thus sucking all the magic out of my drink...and into his Sprite. The glowtini's are good but very sweet. And very pricey.

Salad? No wonder they call it the Sci-fi

he took off with the makings.

Flat Sharon, fill us in on what Pakey & Mo we're doin' in the back seat. She sure wasn't eating. (drive in era age my self);) Plus that would explain the need for a lipstick touch-up.

Excellent choice for pin giving. You are now a hero in a child's eye:lovestruc

And then there's Faith's sandwich:

Oh you poor thing. You were trying so hard to be good at WDW and look what they served you. Was the sandwich good at least? Did you eat that "salad"?

So it's just Faith and Vik and several of their closest toddler friends standing in line for Sully to open his door. Faith pulls out her compact and lipstick and starts refreshing. I see nothing wrong in two grown women applying lipstick while waiting in line with a bunch of 4 year olds to have their picture taking with a 8ft hair monster. Just so you know when I last went to WDW in 2004 my boys were 5and 2 and thus mommy would stand in line for the character photos and autographs for the "kids" (wink, wink) Yes I also did ask my DH if my hair looked ok and yes I was the oldest but I say who cares I'm in Disney.

All is right with the world.?

That was very nice of you. I bet you made her day.:thumbsup2

Faith just smiles and points at her crocs. She knows better.

Are crocs that comfy? I wore Birkenstocks the last time at Disney and my feet were ok but crocs cover your toes which is a good thing.

We're girls we're supposed to primp. Even if it is for a big hairy blue monster.

Well I'm sure if Sully could have talked to them, he would have confirmed that they looked great. :rotfl:

Sharon - did Faith actually eat that thing called a salad? that looks really yucky!!

You look like you had fun in that onion ring -- did you take it on the lazy river? I'm thinking you could have had a nice long float on that!

No Faith did not eat that salad. Or the sandwich. She did, however, snag the rest of that onion ring after I got done trampling all over it.

Awesome trip report, loving it!

Thanks for reading along. Faith is proving to be a bit much but heck, I couldn't have went without her.

It was so tough for Faith not to order a shake especially since Mike kept going on and on about how great his strawberry one was. That's right, churro man, you had to rub it in.

Faith knew when she got that pin that it would have to be shared with a young tink lover. And we can't wait to see the pics of Kaitlyn in her tink suit.

OOO Old Spice! Do me a favor. If we meet up at DL, don't wear the Old Spice. I find it powerful stimulatin', and might embarrass myself.;)

Danielle, Faith never forgets the same thing twice. Next trip it will be something else. And she's not quite done forgetting on this trip too.

I've been going back and forth about trying to book the Sci-Fi for my imaginary trip in Sept. Is it that bad?

The only Disney movies Vik has seen are the old classics. Last one was Jungle Book, nothing since. Hard to believe, huh?

SciFi is lots of fun. Just don't stray from the path of burgers, fries, shakes.

And once you take the cube out of the glowtini, how much drink is there really put into those small glasses?

Salad? No wonder they call it the Sci-fi

Well Judi, since you and Faith are of the same era, you should know that Faith has finally learned how to behave at drive-ins. At least that's her story and there were no fogged-up windows to prove otherwise.

Oh you poor thing. You were trying so hard to be good at WDW and look what they served you. Was the sandwich good at least? Did you eat that "salad"?

Laura, Faith tried so hard to be a good peep on this trip but the stars were not aligned for her many times. No, the sandwich was as bad as the salad. She took the turkey out of the bread and slopped some mustard on the turkey and ate about half of it. She couldn't take any more.

And the crocs, Faith can't say enough about them. Faith even swears I'm getting a pair for the next trip.

So sorry about lunch. I was hoping that the sandwich was good. :sad1: Glad the onion ring was ok. Everyone needs to look their best for pictures. :thumbsup2 That's why I avoid them. :rotfl:

How did I miss this?

Love it.

Kinda gives lipstick jungle a new meaning.

Monica, it's nice to have another peep over here to help keep Faith on the straight and narrow. And just to let you know, she does lose that tube of lipstick before this trip ends. I think she did one too many character meets.

So sorry about lunch. I was hoping that the sandwich was good. :sad1: Glad the onion ring was ok. Everyone needs to look their best for pictures. :thumbsup2 That's why I avoid them. :rotfl:

The onion ring was excellent. It did help get the bad taste of that salad and sandwich out of the mouth, too.

Faith isn't very photogenic but it's hard to look real bad standing next to an 8ft blue hairy monster. But I do think Sully would look better if he were sportin' some crocs!

So it's just Faith and Vik and several of their closest toddler friends standing in line for Sully to open his door.

That cracked me up! The the picture with Sully.

We ate at Sci-Fi today! First time there and liked it alot. Loved the atmosphere and food was good - of course I ordered the burger though. That salad looks terrible!

Flat Sharon - you are doing an awesome job! :thumbsup2

Well guys I gave you a few days off from having to read this TR but it's time to finish off the day at DHS. All afternoon, Mike says he's tired so everyone agrees to head back to the condo. By the time they get to the big blue hat, Faith remembers that there are pics to be picked up at the Rocking Coaster ride. Mike says he's not walking all the way back down there. He gets as far as the bench by the Route 66 sign. Mo decides to stay with him while the girls head off to to the big guitar.

When they get there, there's a photopass photographer. Vik begs, she really wants a pic in front of that guitar so Faith agrees. If Faith thinks it was painful for her to pose, it is nothing compared to the pain of watching her attempt to do it. She has no rhythm whatsoever.

image075.jpg

The photographer says stuff to them like "work it girls" and Vik was very into it but Faith just struggles. Good thing the park was empty that day.

The group then heads back to the condo so that old man Mike can take a nap. Dinner reservations are at California Grill. Vik loves fireworks so Faith thought this would be a nice place to watch some. By the time Mike gets up, they are running a little close on time. Faith decides that since this is a fancier place, she's not wearing her lanyard. A moment of panic for me as I try to figure out what to do. I've got to go to dinner. I've only had a piece of onion ring all day. I jumped into the camera bag just in the nick of time. Faith says they are going to catch a bus to MK (?) and then walk. They are almost to the bus stop when they see the MK bus pull off. Faith gets a puzzled look on her face and uses her manual calculator. That means her fingers. She discovers that if they wait for the next bus, they'll be late. So the group gets a cab.

Ca Grill is packed when they get there. They wait in the lounge area for their buzzer to activate. None of the wait staff offer to take a drink order so they just wait. Vik did get one to stop and take a picture of all of them:

990103765_222.jpg

While waiting, Faith saw the most amazing thing. This woman, seated at a table, took her shoe off and put her foot up on the table to point something out to her husband. Now it's true she was not wearing crocs and her feet were probably killing her, but pleeeeeeze, there's no excuse for this breach. Faith kept talking about it. She can be obsessive that way. And she had plenty of time to rehash it because they didn't get a table until an hour past their ADR time.

But when they get the table, it is worth the wait. They got the best table in the place, a window table directly on the castle side. Faith is ga-ga because they'e eaten here about 20 times and this is the first time they have ever gotten a window table. On top of that, they are far away from Foot Lady.

They have a nice waiter, Gary, who recommends a bottle of wine. It's called Black Chicken. I sneak out and try some but no thanks, it's not to my liking. I'll just wait and steal some of Faith's food.

100_0038.jpg

Everyone got salad for appetizers except Mo. He gets fois gras. Faith loves fois gras but is trying to be peeplike still and watch what she eats. Yeah right, she's watching it go into her mouth.

Between the appetizers and the entree, the fireworks go off. It gets very quiet in the restaurant so we can hear all of the Wishes story and music. I've got to admit, that alone is a reason to go to WDW. I notice Faith wiping a tear away but she tries very hard to be discreet. She's not about to admit she's a goofball for Wishes.

When Wishes is over, Gary is right there with the entrees. I peek out from my lanyard and what do I see:

100_0041.jpg

Oh yummy yummy. Faith has ordered eel for dinner. I thought she had said VEAL. Holy watersnake Batman, I can't eat that. Faith gives a bite to Vik (who is also eating some raw slimy stuff) but Vik says Faith's is too fishy for her. Yikes. Why couldn't it have been veal? Anyway, Faith says is is excellent and cleans the plate. Ate every morsel of that nasty stuff.

Now it's time for dessert. Finally. I think I'm going to eat nothing but sugar for this entire trip. Faith gets some apple thing. While she's busy sampling Mike's strawberry trio, I jump out and stick my feet in Faith's ice cream. Well, I don't have crocs either so my feet hurt too.

100_0047.jpg

She doesn't like this dessert as well as Mike's and it could be because I had stomped though it but hey, she can eat eel, she can eat anything.

After this, it's time for bed and the first full day at WDW is over. They all have to get up very early the next morning for an appointment that Faith had made. Faith hates to get up early so what was so special that she actually had to set an alarm on vacation? And even better, was is Disney's take on Spain's Running of the Bulls.

 Yeah I'm first. Sharon - you poor thing, nothing but sugar your WHOLE trip. My DH used to eat smoked eel as a kid, none for me please. Although that apple dessert sure looks yummy. Cute picture in front of the guitar. I like the picture of all of you, I mean the 3-D people in the bar waiting for the table. It's very nice. And she put her foot on top of the table at CG, no class I say. Great update as usual.

Laura

eel? you're right, faith is a little bizarre!

But, she totally makes up for it posing in front of RNR - wow - what an 'it' girl. You go Faith!

I notice Faith wiping a tear away but she tries very hard to be discreet. She's not about to admit she's a goofball for Wishes.

tell faith she's in good company. wishes goofball here!

eeeewwwwwww.........................to foot lady (was it a bunion, was she eating funions?) and double eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww to the eel! :scared1:

Just how did you score that close table? Did Mo show some leg for that?
