Hellllooooo again. It's me, Stowaway FlatSharon, with another update. When I left off last time, Faith was trying to get everyone to give up the thought of relaxing and heading to Epcot.
I must say that I'm pretty impressed with how convenient it is to stay at the Beach Club and walk to Epcot. Faith and Mo stop at guest relations to get their new annual passes. Immediately, Faith starts whining because Mo's pass has a picture of Tinkerbell and she gets The Incredibles. Like I told you before, she is so picky.
They get into the park and head to a bridge to the right. Faith immediately heads over to this woman wearing a uniform with a big camera. Faith tells her she wants their picture taken. I was shocked. Faith does not like attention on herself but she plops herself front and center for the photograph. She's lost a few pounds and now thinks she is a contestant on American's Top Model or something. Can you see me peeking out behind that green mickey on her lanyard? She still hasn't figured out I'm along for the ride.
While Mo is getting the card from the photographer, Faith takes off across the bridge. She's picking up speed. She's moving faster than a snowball rolling downhill. She leaves the rest of the group wondering what is going on. I was bouncing around on that lanyard pretty hard. After she gets over that bridge, she gets into a line. The rest of the group catches up with her. When she gets to the front of the line, she says "I'll have a Grey Goose slushie please." Ahhh. She declares herself officially on vacation. Everyone else grabs a drink also. Nobody realizes I'm there so I didn't get a chance to taste any of the drinks but everyone declares them to be delicious. No, she is not drunk in this picture even though she looks it. So much for that potential career in modeling, she can't even keep her eyes open.
Although they are all starving, they decide to walk around the lake with all the buildings of countries because they have a little time to kill until their dinner reservations. They tossed back those French drinks pretty quickly because by the time they got to Italy, their glasses were empty. Vik declares that bellinis are her favorite drink so Mo goes to the stand to buy Vik and Faith each one. Vik sees the price, her first sticker shock at WDW, and declares that she will only have this one. Faith comments that they are not her favorite drink but it didn't stop her from drinking it.
They start walking again and Mike is complaining that it's too dark to see anything. They are not stopping to look; they just keep walking. They get to China and there is another one of those photographers there. Faith says she prepurchased a Photopass CD and they might as well take all the pictures they can.
Mo hands over the Photopass card and the 4 of them line up for their pose. The photographer tells them to move back, then move to the right, then move back some more, then move a little more to the right. The group is laughing pretty hard by now as they inch into position. They are pretty sure that this will be a bad photo but it actually turns out nice. It's one of the few photos were Mike actually smiles as he's very aware of his new braces.
After this photo, the group decides to pick up the pace so that they can head to the Yacht Club where they are having dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Vik and Mike are already starting to tire as they are not used to doing much walking. Mo golfs all of the time and is in great shape and Faith is fine because she is wearing these:
They get to the Yachtsman Steakhouse at 9:00 pm for their ADR's. Wow, what a gorgeous hotel this is. Faith and Mo have stayed here before and it's their favorite resort of all. I don't know what an ADR is but it sounds official. Everyone is starving--those Delta biscoff cookies wore off a long time ago. The Yachtsman is a very nice place. It's nice and quiet and somewhat fancy but not overly stuffy. I was definitely ready to find some food myself. They are starving and order an appetizer. What do they get. Raw ahi tuna. Are you kidding me? I stow away with people who eat food like this? What am I going to do for a week? Geesh. Well they enjoy it but I decide to wait for the entree. Everyone orders a ribeye. When I heard that, I was very excited. I am a huge fan of the red meat. Faith isn't supposed to eat red meat so I was happy with this little turn of events.
The food arrives and I can't believe it. Faith likes her meat rare and I mean rare. I'm pretty sure that steak is moving across her plate. For 2 years I've only seen her eat lean cuisines so I wasn't prepared for seeing her dig into that steak like that. I'm sure if I had come close to it, she would have growled at me.
They are so hungry that Faith and Vik forget to take pictures of the food. The guys didn't know that all future meals would be delayed while extensive photographing was done from all angles of each course. But this night, they just get to eat those steaks. Everyone declares them to be excellent but I can't speak from firsthand experience because I am not going to eat live cow.
Before they left home, Faith swore to everyone that she was not going to order any desserts while at WDW. She'd been working hard with her peep weight loss group and she didn't want to blow it. Well, that vow lasted all the way through the steak course. Faith orders creme brulee and it is finally my chance to sneak out and grab a bite to eat while she is fiddling with her camera.
Here's a picture of me diving into the creme brulee.
Oh my, it is good. I have a sugar rush but it is so worth it.
Then it's time to end the day. Faith asks Vik what she wants to do first the following day and Vik doesn't hesitate. It's Tower of Terror. I don't know what that is but it sounds kind of scary. I must warn you, though, it won't be the scariest thing this group encounters on their first full day at WDW.
And what is the first thing that Faith discovers she forgot to pack?
