Boy, I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on my Dh during our upcoming trip. Looks like if he breathes wrong he'll be hauled off in handcuffs in the middle of a parade :scared: Now that I think of it, that might not be so bad :lmao:

This story smells worse than week old fish on the pier.
I accidently shoplifted one day at WDW. Somehow a t-shirt ended up hooked on the side of my PWC. Was probably my fault. Was I escorted out by security? Not at all. My husband realized it was there after we left the store. We returned it completely embarassed, apologized and that was the end of it.
WDW is not vindictive, it doesn't embarass its guests and it doesn't make a public display of arreting and removing people from the parks. They are discrete because it is in there best interest. They don't want or need the negative image they would get if they weren't.

Well since we are all confessing, I accidentally shoplifted too.. on our last day at MK a couple years ago we went into the Emporium to buy some last minute gifts.. we got to talking to the cashier about our trip, she handed us our bags & we walked out of the park & onto the monorail.. when we got back to the car I asked DH to hand me the receipt so I could put it in with the rest & he made the comment that he didn't pay so I must have it... well I didn't pay either.... we looked at each other & said OMG we just 'stole' $90 worth of stuff from WDW... of course the cashier really 'gave' it to us but, I did feel a little guilty hoping the cashier wouldn't get in trouble..

Whew I feel much better now ;)

This is so completely off topic - but kinda on topic at the same time:

Am I the only one who gets worried when you've bought a hat while on your trip and you go into a shop that carries the same hat that they will think you took it? I've also thought that about my fan water bottle. How would they know you had bought it on a previous day or even a previous trip?

I am confident anyone over the age of 10 knows they should not leave a store with unpaid goods.

This may well have been a misunderstanding, but people have to take responsibilities for their mistakes. Hopefully the court appearance will go well and the charge will be dropped. This is a valuable lesson for everyone reading this thread - what can happen to you even at the happiest place on Earth.

From what I read, the mother put the things in the stroller, and then left the stroller in the store to chase the child, fully intending to return to the stroller and purchase the items. Dad, not knowing that the items were in there, paid for his purchases, and then left the store WITH the stroller. I could be wrong, but it seems like the person who actually removed them from the store didn't know he had them in his possession.

Well that was the original story from the "original" poster. The "actual" person this happened to clarified it about halfway through this thread and now it is the 4 year old who placed the items in the stroller when the mom told him to go back into the store, as she stood in the doorway, and give them to his dad so they could then cross the parade and go ride on buzz lightyear with the 17 year old other son. Instead apparently the 4 yo put them in the bottom pouch of the stroller.

Let us not forget that the MAYOR's autograph is mighty high on every 4 year old's list of must do/must have while at WDW

I thought one of the posters mentioned that the 4 y/o wanted the Mayor's autograph. Maybe all the circles that the OP and the Victim posted confused my poor brain.

No, the Mayor that the 4 y/o old saw in the parade that caused him to rush out of the store to begin with becasue he wanted his autograph.

I thought that was in the OP
Was it this guy? If it was, then I could understand.

first of all I have put of doing my trip report due to my mixed emotiins going on right now and because My grandmother died 3 days after returning home from our vacation...

My family and I were shopping on Mainstreet picking up suvioniers. We had been in the store for quite awhile, children kept chainging minds. The Family day parade was passing by and caught the attention of my four year old who was sitting down in the rented MK strooler. He got up and started running towards the door to see I sent him back to give Dad the mug with trinkets in it. Now we know that he put in the cup holder on the back or stroller.

While out side son wanted autograph on the town mayor who was there and then asked to ride buzz. called husband on cell phone and we decided iwould take him and 17 year old to ride while he and daughter shopped somemore since he was having better luck with getting some realistic gifts for her friends. She started with $50 gifts for 6 different friends!

Husband left store and was headed towards the castle to meet up with us and called and asked if he should go back and pick up another suvioner blanket, we agreed x-mas present for someone. Next thing I know he calls saying that orange county police were taking him away and one officer was escorting my 12 yr old towards where i was.

we were tolld to go to city hall. i arrived there and nobody could offer me any help as to locating my husband and finding out what on earth was going on.

finally after demanding someto come and explain something to me I had two officers come out tell me to leave my children by the parade route and follow them.... down the middle of the parade route with one officer in front and one in back.

they allowed my husband when we reached him give me his weeding bands and wallet and gave me a map to orange county prison where i could bail him out in3 hours with $500. 18 hours later I had him back. we have a court date in dec...much more to tell but that is the short of it

Mind you I have been to Disney 18 times..My adult bedroom is all mickey..my tattoo that took 40years to get the nerve to due is a custom mickey...I'm crushed..we were going to buy time share at disney...

Whew!! I thought I was dreaming this.

And lets not forget that she was so concerned about the 4 year old that she ran out of the store after him, but then did not watch him go back into the store to give the stuff to the dad. If she had been watching she would have seen him take it to the stroller and not the dad. Also she did not walk back in with him. I guess he can only be hurt outside of stores not inside. :cloud9:

Another poster here who thinks there has to be more to this than meets the eye. Too many holes in the story. Entertaining to say the least. DH and I don't have any kids so we will just have to watch each other to make sure we don't shoplift. popcorn::

My three year old is a major sticky fingers.

Her first crime occured when she was just 16 months old. I had her in the stroller, while we shopped at the mall. Our last stop was a Payless Shoe Store where I bought shoes for all three kids. Dd stayed in the stroller the entire time, and I even commented on how quiet and well behaved she was at checkout.

Well, when we got to the car, I discovered what had kept her so quietly occupied. She had taken about a dozen pairs of shoelaces from the display under the checkout, and stuffed them in her pants!!!
