The story some of you have been waiting for.

We were a group of 10 with several small children. They wouldn't let us talk to my friend or allow anyone to accompany her to the police station. The only reason they talked to us at all is because we were starting to make noise and people were looking. There was absolutely nothing we could do or say that was going to make a difference. They were having none of it. She was dragged out with her crying and sobbing, why are you doing this to me? I didn't do anything! I didn't do anything! OMG I didn't DO ANYTHING!
She was able to call her boyfriend so he could bring bail money. They got back to their hotel 8 hours later. It was a pretty lousy day for us all and one she refuses to talk about, except for once in awhile when Disney is brought up, she says Mickey Mouse can bite me. :lol

I don't think this happens often, but apparently it does happen. I'm sure the number of people who shoplift and don't get caught immensely outnumber those who are falsely accused. I think the lesson here is carry your receipts for everything you buy at all times. Don't take anything out of the bag until you are out of the park. And if you do get accused, falsely or otherwise and they offer the $200 fine for signing a confession, take it. You'll save yourself a lot of anguish and money in the long run. I don't think they offered my friend anything, probably because at some point she became belligerant.
