The State Fair of Texas opens today!!!

Yes, we love the Tornado Taters...but last year we had had SO MUCH FRIED FOOD that by the time we got to that booth, no one wanted any.

This is on my list of "things that will make me fat today"

I'm heading out there right now.

You know of course that this means it's gonna rain. It has to. It's Texas law. State Fair = rain, Byron Nelson = rain.

Now I need me a corny dog and beer.

Its so cloudy here in Denton. It looks like its about to poor. I'm still heading out anyways...So a little rain gets on me....I will have my turkey leg and see the new cars

Well, the fair was great as usual.... K9 show was great, it wasn't too hot, but it did heat up, never rained, bit windy/cloudy early on, then that faded away.

Elvis skydiving in for the opening was great

The Georgia National Fair opens on Oct. 7!!!! I can't wait!!! I have 10 sheets of tickets and I have tickets to see Gretchen Wilson and Hank Williams Jr.


I can't wait!!! I love the national fair almost as much as Christmas!!!!!!

DD came home with a FREE ticket to go there!!! YEA! Every little bit helps. Now when to go?
Weekdays are a little tough that is for sure.

I'm jealous! We have gone every year for the past five years - one of our family traditions. But this year, DD1 has been sick so many times and DH has missed so much work that we decided to be more practical and pass on it. We went once on a weekend - too crowded with little ones! So, this Fair Day I will be staying at home for once.

I heard this year's food to eat will be the fried marshmallows. Someone try one for me and let me know how it is!

Elvis had an accident and most of one arm and leg is missing. The butter sculptor was in Tulsa working on another, but is rushing down to do the repairs.

Im going tomorrow with my brother.. I cant wait!!
My boyfriend told me about the butter sculpture so I have to make sure to look for it!!

All the school kids will get a ticket for a week day entry and each school district has a fair day. Our is Oct 10th, if we go it will probably be then.

DD came home with a FREE ticket to go there!!!

Check her ticket and make sure that there is no date on it. Our school fair day is Oct. 5 and our kid's tickets have the date on them.

If you are counting pennies, Wednesdays are canned food day. At least they have been in the past. You can get admission to the fair for three cans of food.

Sounds like fun! I didn't go to my state fair this year -- they don't start until the end of August and by then everyone is in school...I don't really get it. I would have gone if it were during the summer.

I've always thought it brilliant that the State Fair of Texas isn't until October. Even then, it can be in the mid-90s. If they had it in the middle of summer, it would likely be over 100 degrees.
