The Split Personality Pre Trip Report (May 2015) - Back Home with a Quick Update (5/18)

I have the Sketcher Go Walks and love them. I find them very comfy and can stand and walk in them all day. I have a pair of New Balance too that I have worn in the past. They were good too.

Is one variety of Go Walks better than the other? They seem to have a gazillion varieties!

OMGeeeee!!!! That swimwear!!!! I love it! I want it! Soooo cute!!!! And the matching glasses... Pitter-patter goes my heart!!! ::yes::

I love the little gifts... I am such a tightwad... I've never done that for my girls... I tell them that they get the trip - that's their gift. LOL But when we went when they were little, we didn't know a thing about Disney trips... So - we missed out on a lot of this fun stuff. Can't wait for grandkids for this very reason (well, I can wait - but you know what i mean. ::yes::)

As for park shoes... YOu know this is an addiction for me right? Well, just shoes in general... Yah - small (ahem ~ big) problem... I used to have really, really, really bad feet - but the smaller I get, the less problems I have - which is good. My favorite shoes of all time ~ still~ are my Orthaheel Tide flip flops - I know you don't do flip flops - but these have such great support in them... The arch is super high and it does take a bit of getting used to, but I wear them day in and day out - rain or shine or snow in the house... And all summer/spring/fall outdoors, as well. I seriously believe that these shoes have "cured" my Plantar Fascitis. ::yes:: In other news... Also my Aisics... I've had to try on several different models within their brand - but they do have good arch support if you can find the right ones. I have not tried any of the others you've mentioned. My latest addiction though - Converse... But they have NO support at all - so I don't recommend those. I've been known to carry a spare set of shoes (usually my flip flops on days when I am wearing *not as good of shoe* - like my Converse) in the parks, so I can do a quick shoe change if necessary. I also carry my inserts, because just by changing out inserts, it makes the shoe feel different on your foot - so if you are having rub issues, it's usually enough to trick your foot into thinking you've changed your shoes. ::yes:: LOL

I hope I didn't bore you to death. ::yes::

Love that you are starting Zoe's trip off with a princess breakfast! I'm sure she will be thrilled. I wasn't aware that the photo with Belle was gone. That is kind of disappointing.

Ack! That goodie bag is perfect. So many fun items! I especially love the key to the kingdom. What a great idea!

Sorry I don't have any personal advice on shoes (I wear flip flops most of the time in the summer) but I have repeatedly seen great posts about the Go Walk shoes but again I haven't tried them.

My friend and I did the arrival gifts for our boys on one trip when they were smaller. That was a trip of a lifetime! 12 days at the Poly Club level pixie dusted with a MK view...I will have to find my old trip report for it...from 2004. We got a GREAT deal on that room. Other than that, I have never done it either. But I have the opportunity to do it for her, so I am. And yes, the swimsuits at the store are SUPER CUTE this year...really all of them (well except the original Frozen one...and it is cute I just question some design aspects of it)

Yeah, Converse, Keds, Vans...not even an option for me. It is not so much my feet hurting as much as the fallen arch & severe pronation that KILLS my knees/hips. I have had bad knees since my early 40s (ortho told me I had the worst knees he had seen for a 40 year old...yeah me!...and looking at a double knee replacement in my future...that was 15 years ago, and I am holding off as best I can for another 10-15 years as I know they don't last that long...I have no cartilage in my knees...basically bone on bone.) He said loosing weight would help some but not necessarily get rid of the pain/issues. The flip flop issue for me is I just have a weirdness about me...I just think feet are disgusting...can't stand seeing peoples feet...yeah weird I know! LOL!:confused3:goodvibes I will post my shoe decision. in a separate post.

Love that you are starting Zoe's trip off with a princess breakfast! I'm sure she will be thrilled. I wasn't aware that the photo with Belle was gone. That is kind of disappointing.

They stopped the Belle pictures a little earlier this year. Matt saw those keys in the dollar spot at Michael's and had the idea!

So I tried on the Sketchers GoWalk3s tonight. They are good, but will not be my number one shoe. I did order a pair, as a secondary shoe for the trip. They are comfy, just don't have enough support for lots of wear. Thinking these will be my wear around the resort after a park day shoe (I can't go barefoot). I also ordered a pair of Saucony Stabil CS3...I have not tried these on yet, but they appear to be made for my feet:love:...we shall see.

It will probably be Saturday night/Sunday morning before I can post Day 5 plans!

Hi there!! I'm late to the party but reading along!!! Can't wait to hear how the trip goes after all that planning!!

If I could throw in a few shoe rec's that are slightly different: Hoka One One Bondi, Altra Olympus or Provision. They're fantastically comfortable shoes that seem to work very well with flat feet and pronation issues. The Hokas are SUPER padded and feel like walking on clouds. I wish I could wear them, but my feet are waaaay too wide. I have feet problems that cause me to have to practically do a phd thesis worth of research before buying shoes, so I look into a lot of brands that aren't as typical as Nike/Reebok/New Balance.

Two Princess nightlights (one for each room in the suite)
Where did you find these? I've been on the hunt!

she flat out sat as far as she could from the Easter Bunny this year (but he was kinda scary looking!)
Well, most easter bunnies are all kinda terrifying!

Ok, I have not found Minnie Lip Gloss yet, but still looking
Check target's easter section. I would have sworn I saw some there. (Though it may be super picked over at this point.)

On a side note, I'm almost 3/4 done with your bows for Zoe. I'll post pictures once they are finished!

Thanks for the information! I found two stores very close to me that carry these. So I may be trying some on next week. I generally do a lot of research too, but then I need to go try them on for sizing. I Have a relatively wide food too, so the Hokas may be a problem for me too...but at least I have options!

The nightlights were from Dollar Tree. I will have to check out Target. I have been avoiding it just cause I like too much! I need to see if they are open Easter Sunday...if they are, I may have to make an early morning run. I won't have the chance to before then.

So, I normally kennel my two dogs while I am away from the house. The one in my avatar is an Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix that takes his job of protecting the house and us very seriously. So I was talking with a friend who works at my retail job. She works full time at as a Vet assistant and part time in retail with me. I asked her how she would feel about dog/house sitting, as my house would be closer than her house to both her jobs. She said she would love to! I explained that it all depends on how Dunkin (the doc in the picture) and Kaylee (a Plott Hound/Jack Russell Terrier Mix...we think) will react to her. So last night was her first time meeting them. Normally if someone comes in the house Dunkin is always on alert and will usually immediately growl/snarl at the person (we avoid putting him in these positions if at all possible and he does not do this anywhere else but at the house). Well, we have decided to call her the Dog Whisperer Fairy instead of the Pirate Fairy (our usual nickname for her). Because this dog LOVED her. He even exposed his belly to her for a rub (I am usually one of the few people he will do that with consistently). So we still have a long way to go to make this work, but we will be coordinating schedules so she can come spend a few hours at least once a week at the house to get him used to her being around. This would be so awesome if it works out and will save me lots of money!

Whoo hoo!!!

Will try to get a real update Sunday, but can't make any promises since my little one (okay, he is 21) will be home for the week (and he has not been home since last August!)

Have a great Easter if I do not get back on here!

Hi, Lynn!

It sounds like you have a really fun vacation planned! :goodvibes

Minus a few days of flip flops, I always wear tennis shoes in the parks. My favorite two brands that work well for me are New Balance and Asics. I have a pretty decent arch, but I keep going back to these two shoes. Good luck in the shoe hunt!

I'm so excited that you're going to Akershus! I really enjoyed it when we went in 2012 - so much so that we're planning to go again this year! The eggs, bacon, and coffee were especially good here, and I LOVED the cold buffet. The fruit was fresh, there was a variety of meats and cheeses, and I'm counting the days until I can have another bagel with lingonberry cream cheese. (I'm sure the fact that I'm Scandinavian has nothing to do with it... :rolleyes1)

I believe Belle still greets you at Akershus and you can still get a picture - the only thing they removed was giving you a physical print. The picture can be added to Photopass or you can give the photographer your own camera. :thumbsup2

First, :welcome: and thanks for stopping by!

Akershus is one I have never been to, so I am looking forward to it. GREAT to hear that Belle still greats you! I did not know that! We have the Memory Maker package, so we will be sure to add that picture onto it! Thanks for letting me know!

That's awesome that you may have a free dog sitter. It can really add a lot to the cost of a vacay to have to board the dog so that's great.

I think my Sketchers are the Go Walk 2's but I don't know for sure. I tried to buy another pair recently since my old ones are looking a little old. I bought them online. They looked like the same pair but they are not the same. So, I need to return them to the store here in town now. I guess I will just have to stick to buying shoes directly from the store where I can try them on first. Let us know how your shoe choices work for you.

Great news about the Dog Whisperer Fairy! That will be wonderful if it works out for both of you.

I have the same issues with my knees... Most of my cartilage is gone... I do have to say - since I've lost size and eliminated most grains from my diet (an inflamitory food) I have virtually no knee issues and no feet issues anymore. Before - it was super hard for me to walk. I know I was also looking at a double knee replacement, but like you - I was holding off as long as possible, because I didn't want to have it done multiple times. So, losing size, I think, is only half the battle - I think that eliminating the inflamitory foods were a huge part of it. Now... I don't feel like I have any problems with my feet or my knees anymore at all, so hopefully I can push off the knee replacement indefinitely. ::yes:: Just food for thought - literally. :thumbsup2

Hehehe... about feet in flip flops... If you ever meet me - be mentally prepared to meet my feet too. LOL It's rare that I am ever not in flip flops. ::yes::

Drive by posting this morning...will come back tonight hopefully for replies and an update, but just wanted to share this....

Oh happy day!
