The snow is here!

Plenty of books about them but no live ones for some reason. :confused3

Might have to be shanks' pony for me tomorrow, depending on the forecast for the afternoon.

Take care, they expect it to be very slippery/icy tomorrow if you do end up walking.x.

Lovely pics everyone. Think it's stopped here for now at least. My DS went to school only to get sent home at 11am when they closed the school. My employers very kindly told us we could go early (half four instead of five) as long as we made the time up sometime this week :rotfl:

They are all heart. :lmao:

Hope those that need to go out to work/school etc today are able to travel safely.

Did anyone have more snow overnight? I think we have had a little more but not too much thankfully. The sun is out at the moment so hopefully it will begin to melt.

Sounds like Sainsburys except they say we are not shutting then all the manangers leave to go home:rolleyes:

We didn't get anymore snow overnight:sad1:

I have had to stay at home today as I was worried about using the back roads I have to use to get to work. Have done a bit of work from home but I'm not very disciplined :sad2:

The girls' school is closed to day so they've gone to the rec to make the most of the snow - hopefully, it will be gone by tonight as I really ought to go back to work tomorrow.

The girls school closed yesterday afternoon as not enough staff had made it in due to the snow. It's closed today so I've had to stay home.

A lot of the snow has melted but what's left is ice and there's lots of black ice around now so very dangerous.

I think we're due sunshine the rest of the day so I'm hoping it all goes by the morning. I LOVE snow but I HATE ice.

We had a lot less snow than was predicted overnight.
The sun is shining and it's slowing melting, but only on trees - not melting on the ground with any significance.

DH made it into work by public transport, although it took three hours (normally less than an hour).

It's very pretty today with the sun shining, we will venture around to the corner shop later, thats all.....

Its all gone here, and the sun is shining:thumbsup2 , it will probably rain or snow around about 3ish when I venture out to pick up DS from school;)

Had another Snow day today the boys school and the one I work at were closed, not heard about the boys but mine re-opens tomorrow, and the text went on to say with restricted parking - nightmare there are only 79 spaces for 121 cars at normal times. DS back to training tonight, refused to take him yesterday morning as was not happy to drive, but had a message from his coach sunday night to say not to allow a little bit of snow stopping the squad training..... he only lives 5 mins from pool - we live over 8 miles away, so will be in for a tongue lashing tonight  Normally he would train tomorrow am will depend on how the weather is and how icy it is along out road.

Hope every one has had a good day and not too cold

Well the girls schools were both closed again today(i really don't see why today). There is'nt much hope that they will be open tomorrow either.
Thankfully we hardly had any snow last night, even though it was forceasted to be just as bad as the night before.
Most of it now is pure ice, with a little snow on top,i spent 30mins clearing the front garden/drive,pathway+pavement outside my drive-it was so hard to get the thick ice off. Then spent 10mins clearing the ice of the patio area in the garden.
Me+the girls braved it to pop to the shops as we needed bread, milk etc..we were slipping+sliding everywhere-the girls thought it was hilarious.x.

I drove in to work this morning and it took me longer to clear the snow off the car than it did to get to the factory. Once I got out of my road the roads were pretty clear of snow and traffic.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the snow today

Youngest DD was off today as her school was closed, so she had a great time with her friends. Yesterday eldest DD's college was closed, and I asked her not to go in today as she's not used to driving in the icy conditions

I really hope the snow is gone tomorrow, but it said on the news that there's more on it's way at the weekend - I hate it :(

Stay safe and warm everyone :thumbsup2

We've not had any snow since about 8pm last night!;) , our DD's greeted us last night with a barage of snowballs as we arrived home from the Supermarket, good old grandma & grandad!!
It's been bitterly cold today, school has been open as normal :goodvibes
DH & I have both been to work as we both live very close to our workplace's.

Thankfully no more snow.It is all now a thick sheet of ice,so,so slippery out there. My girls returned to school+nursery today, poor Emily slipped twice on the way there but she's fine.
I am not a happy bunny today.I had been trying since 7am to find out if Chloe was back to school,as the phones have been constantly engaged since Monday as they had taken the phones off the hook,so after 25mins of trying i assumed another day off school. So i left the girls in bed asleep.I noticed about 8-30am-as i got the girls up,that some schol kids were going past-so i rang the school+it was still engaged-i managed to get thru at 8-45am+they told me that school was open.I explained that i would'nt be able to get Chloe in for 9-10am and will get her there asap.Anyway i got her in for 9-50am+they issued her with a LATE MARK-i was absolutley fuming.I explained about the phone situation+explained that i had once again tried ringing this morning+no luck+i was told that the secretary was in at 7am+everyone was phoning, thats why the phones were engaged.I explained that the phones gad been constantly engaged since Monday+thats when they told me that they took the phone of the hook-so i said how was i supposed to know the difference between the phone off the hook+people on the phone this morning.
I am mad because i pride myself in my girls being at school on time(my girls have never had a late mark),and never having a day off unless it is absolutley necessary+now it will go on her report.Am i being touchy?,sorry to rant+rave-i had to let it out.It just annoys me that there's one person in particular+yes she is a friend that refuses to take her children to school if it's raining or she don't feel well+she managed to get her son in on time-argggghghhhhhhhhh.x.

If it were me I'd have a quiet word with the head teacher and explain what happened. I hardly think it's fair to give late marks with the current weather situation.

I'm sure they will make an exception to this - if not insist to be told how many teachers turned in on Monday! ;)
