The Snooze button

Ugh, I hate the snooze button. I don't trust them...it's like I'm afraid something will malfunction and it won't go off again and then I'll wake up 4 hours late (because I never just marginally oversleep; I catastrophically oversleep. I'm so scared of doing it that I just get up when the alarm goes off the first time.)

My sympathies, OP. Waaaaay back in the day, I had a roommate who used to sleep through her alarm daily. The worst was when she'd leave for one of her little overnight jaunts and would lock her room and not turn off the alarm so it'd go off INSANELY loudly in the morning and there was no way I could turn it off. God, I hated that girl.

I'm definitely guilty of this. In my case, I set it for when I want to be up to give myself enough time to get ready at a leisurely place, grab breakfast, and get to my classroom about half an hour early. The problem is that I am alwasy so damn exhausted. I'm actually going to be talking to my doctor about it. Despite my best intentions every morning, I am just so tired that that stupid snooze button gets hit many times. And I'm horrible with it- not only do I have my alarm clock, I have a backup on my cell phone and hit them both!

It very well could be an exhaustion/ sleep disoder thing.

BTW: Where can you find that first alarm clock posted? I think I need something like that but can't find that one!

I never really understood the point of a snooze alarm.. I mean I understand it, but to me it is just prolonging the agnony. Ive always been the type of person, its morning, the alarm goes off..just get up and get it over with..Why torture yourself 5 times in a row by waking up, hitting snooze and repeating:confused3

I am like that too- the alarm rings- I jump out of bed and get going. I tried that snooze button a couple times and all it did was give me a headache for the entire day- I guess 9 extra minutes of sleep and getting woken up again doesn't cut it for me!
I would shut his alarm off after the first ring and let him deal with it-let hte chips fall where they may...he is an adult and should be responsible (and thoughtful enough!) that he wakes up and gets up when the alarm goes off ONE time. Hitting the snooze over and over while their partner is still sleeping is REALLY REALLY one of the rudest things someone can do to another person in the morning!

I found it at www.skymall.com I think it's $50-60. * I just checked and it's $69.95.

Ever since I posted it I've thought about buying one for myself!

I originally saw all three alarm clocks in the skymall magazine when I was flying somewhere but the only one I found on their website was the first one.

I always seem to wake up 2 minutes before my alarm goes off - which is fine with me. I hate that feeling of getting jarred awake by noise of any kind. The alarm that slowly lights up and plays sounds from nature looks like it would be right up my ally.

I'm a snoozer. I usually have to get up at 7:15AM and I set my alarm for 6:15AM, the only thing that works for me is setting my alarm an hour ahead of time and hitting the button 6 times.

I've tried moving my alarm clock (which is my phone) around the room so I have to get up to turn it off but in doing so I've either slept through it or I get up and completely shut it off because I'm so annoyed.

DFiance on the other hand, what a little punk, it doesn't matter what time he went to bed he always wakes up before his alarm clock goes off.

Another odd ball here that thinks the "snooze" button is useless - not to mention annoying.. I would tell him that he needs to set it for the actual time that he has to get up - and then he needs to GET UP!!

When I was still working, I would set the alarm for whatever time I had to get up and always woke up 5 minutes or so before it actually rang.. My late DH never needed an alarm clock.. Woke up at the exact same time 7 days a week..:thumbsup2
