No confirmation other than these two guys that were live at the news studio. The more I think about it, the more I think we have another two "Matthew Dowdy's" on our hands. If they had important videotape how the heck did they get away from the crime scene and 10 miles away to the studio when the area is virtually locked down??

Needless to say the news station hasn't shown the tape yet

I'm sorry that you think it to be advantageous to have all the information about the steps the police are taking to "catch" this jerk. Because the SAME info you receive is the SAME info that the snipers get. We are getting TOO much info. All we need to know is that steps are being taken NOT specifically what those steps are. All this info is "helping" the sniper get away and continue his murderous spree.

It's similar to the "news" reporting each place President Bush was flying to after 9-11. I kept yelling at my radio to "SHUT UP"! We are telling the VERY people who mean us harm how to go about to circumvent the system.

So please everyone, write/smail/phone your tv/radio stations and tell them to limit what they say. It may very well indeed, save your life!

I am watching the local channel now guys and I don't see it yet. This shooting did take place from a wooded area they are saying, which is different from the others. No matter what, this is awful but I for one am really praying that this is a cpoy cat!

They still have 95 blocked and they are searching all the white vans. Those two kooks on channel 6 saying they had a videotape were probably just looking for a moment of fame

I've been watching ch 6 (Richmond local news), no they (the police) have NOT caught anyone. I believe that if the police have taken anyone, it would be the 2 who claim they have a videotape. According to the police, it was just this 37yo man and his female companion who were walking to their car in the back of the restaurant, that had woods in the back (which is where the police belive the sniper was).

As for the type of van, it has only been identified as a white van with na silver ladder on the top. No specific van brand which is good, because we don't want to "limit" people's views.

As for videotape, it may have been taken after-the-fact. I've been watching CNN, FOX, ABC, CBS, AP, no one has mentioned anyone being caught or the videotape. I think this may be another witness giving misinformation.

Don't assume you know what I think. I'm not sure you know me that well.

What has to be determined by viewers is if what they are being told is the truth. I understand your fear but I'm not the media or the masses. If the media wants to be competetive they will do what needs to be done. Unfortunately, they have the First Amendment on their side.

Just today I saw police setting up videocameras on both sides of the road that comes off 95. I felt kinda bad for the two guys standing there monitoring them all day out in the open.

Does anyone know why they're searching every car in Chevy Chase? They're showing the police pulling over every car for searching.

A friend of mine and I were going to take my kids down to King's Dominion tonight for Fear Fest, but another friend asked me if her son could spend the night with mine and I didn't feel comfortable taking someone else's child down there with all this going on so we didn't go. I'm so glad we didn't.

He is just getting closer and closer. I live an hour away and was nervous at my DD soccer game and going out tonight. They have to do something soon (and I agree that they need to shut up)

Also, they've been commenting on the news here a great deal about how he hasn't done it on the weekends. Well now he just goes out and proves himself again doesn't he? He is watching every bit of the news just like the rest of us.

Okay, I know this is tragic and extrememly frustrating, but getting upset with each other's opinions doesn't help anything. . . it's completely understandable under the circumstances, but let's try and express things a way that is non-confrontational. . .

As far as the shooting- the police do seem to be fumbling around, but I would think someone operating like this would be very difficult to catch until someone who knows him rats him out. And there is the possibility that the police are feeding the media false info to try and trip the guy up.

I missed a lot of the news on the early shootings, but if it were me I'd be doing a very close check on all the area National Guard units. . and if this turns out to be the guy, see who was there the past two weekends and not this one. It could be a foriegn terrorist, but it just doesn't seem like it fits their MO. . .

As far as the media; it's their job to report any facts they can find out about and can confirm, but all to often they report anything that's said without any responsibility or retraint or facts. It might be standard operating procedure these days, but that doesn't make it right. . .
