:rotfl2: and :rotfl: when they are used to mean "that's a really funny story!" -- great!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: if you use them to mean "you're such an idiot" or that's such a stupid opinion.....I'm never reading your posts again. You are too rude to take into consideration. And you obviously aren't smart enough to think of a real opinion.

I agree Auntpolly! I hate it when people use smilies in mean or passive aggressive ways when responding to others.

Wow, I'm not sure I've seen them used that way and I sure hope nobody has ever thought that *I* have used them that way. I thought they were really best used for laughing at a funny story or at something stupid I myself have said or done!

I so agree.

I hate the little green nodding guy when he is an entire post.

Maybe :rotfl: simply means the poster being commented on needs to relax and not let every little thing disturb them so much. When people get angry about opposing views and take offense at a little character in a post it makes me wonder if they're a heart attack waiting to happen.

 is the one that irritates me the most

I don't like this one - :rolleyes1

That just says to me "I am way too bored with what you had to say to even warrant a response".

To me that's the "I'm guilty but trying to pass it off like I'm not" smilie

I'm talking more about the debates - when you are going back and forth with 8 or 10 people and one side starts making really good points and kind of winning -- and the other time just goes :rotfl: -- and says something like "Priceless!"

This says to me, that you have resorted to making fun because you don't have a counterpoint and are too rude to admit it.

I hate the new doggie smilies. I can see the need for one or even two (cuz Spencer deserves his own special smilie) but THREE dog smiies? Where's the cat? Or the birdie? WHY DON"T WE HAVE EQUAL REPRESENTATION? :duck:

I don't really have any I hate, but I think I see a lot of them differently than some people do and even what they're written as. This guy :rolleyes1 looks to me like someone who's feigning innocence and I think it's cute, but then I see where people are offended by it, so I try not to use it. This one  says "rolls eyes (sarcastic)" but I see it as a kidding "Oh sheesh" like you'd do to a friend.

I think the smilies make communicating a lot easier than just the words on a screen, but there's still a lot of room for misunderstanding.

the old :rolleyes1  were alot meaner looking - no smiles! I think these look a bit more friendly - like, "Oh, you silly!"
