Trip:: 7 nights at Beach Club for our third family trip to WDW-first trip for Christmas activities. November 29-December 6
The Revenge of the Kitchen Sink: There once was a girl named Emily who was 12 and loved to eat ice cream. She went with her family to a place called Beaches and Cream to eat a huge ice cream sundae called the Kitchen Sink. During that night, the Kitchen Sink took revenge from having been devoured by Emily. As the kitchen sink digested in Emilys stomach, large amounts of gaseous byproducts were released. Consequently, her family was wakened frequently during the night to very loud sounds equivalent to a round from an automatic weapon. The Kitchen Sink even woke Emily herself out of a sound sleep at one point. When the Kitchen Sink was fully digested and blasted off one last finale, the family all awoke to share their stories of Emilys revenge of the Kitchen Sink The family all agreed that Emily should avoid the Kitchen Sink in the future, as the results of the revenge may have frightened any families that were sleeping near Emilys room. In addition, Emily and her family hurt from laughter in the morning from recounting the revenge stories. A vote was taken and it was unanimous: No more Kitchen Sink for Emily. THE END.
After our eventful night...we slept in a little and I intended to make it out to the beach to sit on the swing and relax a little. I thought I might even sneak over to the Boardwalk Bakery for a surprise breakfast for the family, but things got rolling this morning by the above mentioned events, so I didnt make it out for my alone time. However, Holly and I did take a walk over to Boardwalk Bakery and we brought back some breakfast burritos(these are huge!), Bow Tie Twist, and Cinnamon Rolls. We had a ton of food! YUM, yum, it was delicious!!
We grabbed a bus to AK and arrived just in time for the 9:45 Lion King show so we zipped in. As always, it was an enjoyable show. We headed to the Safari and had a very short wait. We sat in the front because of Russ back and saw more animals than we have ever seen during the Safari. It was great. None of us remember ever being on the bridge that started to tipis that new??
During the Safari, our video camera battery showed that it was low on charge. Russ forgot to plug it in last night and we had no spare battery. We wanted to tape the parade in the afternoon. I had remembered reading on DIS somewhere that guest services would charge your video cameras while you enjoy the park, but we didnt have the charger either!
We debated what to do, but finally Russ decided to go back to the room and get the charger while I took the girls on Dinosaur and Tarzan Rocks. Luckily we had our radios, because just as Russ was almost at the entrance and ready to catch a bus, he remembered I had all of the entrance tickets! He would have been stuck outside with no way to get back in.
The girls and I headed over to Dinosaur and Jana decided to ride it. They waited about 20-25 minutes. They liked it although they said it was scary. We headed to Tarzan Rocks. We saw this show during our first trip to Disney but it felt like 1000* in that theater in July and so we were quite unimpressed with Tarzan Rocks. However, we decided to give it another shot this trip and we really did like it better. Russ still was not back, so we headed to Primeval Whirl hoping to get fast passes for all of us, but they were not distributing them. The girls headed on anyway. Just as they got off, Russ returned and had taken care of the video camera. For future reference, the guest services will charge your video camera while you tour the park. They will keep it in a locked cabinet and give you the claim ticket to retrieve it later. This is a great service.
We decided to all go on Primeval Whirl. Now, I do not like these type of spinning/feel like you are going to fall off the corner/mousetrap type roller coaster, but I needed to ride it at least once(!), so I did it. It was pretty zippy, but actually quite fun, and I would probably go on it again. Emily and Jana wanted to go to the Boneyard and they did that while we relaxed. We did a little shopping and got a spot for the parade. Russ went to get the video camera. Jana wanted to tape this parade to show Grandma and Papa(Russ parents), so she was thrilled that it was up and running. This is such a fun and energetic parade!
We wanted to see AKL, so we caught the bus. We were impressed with this resort too. We have never resort-hopped and we were so glad we did this trip.
The Christmas tree and other decorations were impressive and Emily was immediately in love with this resort because of its animal theme. We looked around and went to some of the animal viewing areas. We decided to get dinner at Maras. Jana had been hungry for soup for days and she enjoyed her chicken tortilla soup and the rest of us split a pizza which was huge! We sat outside and relaxed and enjoyed!
We werent sure how to get back to BC, since AK was now closed, so we headed to the bus stop to see what we might do. A bus pulled up returning people from AK and we asked if he was going back and he said yes, but do you realize AK is closed? We said yes, but we needed to catch a bus back to BC. He was kind enough to take us to the YC/BC bus stop at AK and shortly after a bus arrived to take us and few stragglers back to BC. This crazy bus system for BC, we never did figure it out! Sometimes, we stopped at YC and Swan and Dolphin and sometimes we just went straight to BC. This time, of course, we made all the stops and finally got to BC.
The girls decided to take advantage of the pool for the last time
and Russ and I packed. As we packed, we discovered we lost an entire wheel and the casing around it on one of our rolling duffles leaving behind a gaping hole. We debated what we could pack in there that wouldnt fall out on the way!, and decided to lay in some plastic bags to cover the hole and pack our pillows in it. We packed and listened to the weather which was predicting 3-5" of snow in Ohio and even more problematic weather for the north east coast region.
We worried about our flights tomorrow, but decided we would just have to go with the flow.
We went to the front desk. We had earned quite a few Disney Visa points prior to our trip and we wanted to apply that to our room charges. We also had some cash left which we thought could minimize our credit card bill when we got home
, so we applied the credit and our cash to our bill and got a print out so I could check it that evening. The girls enjoyed their swim and soak in the hot tub. They returned to the room and got showered.
Holly and I decided to make good on our vow to return to see Illuminations, and we took off. They had our favorite maple beavertails this time, and we managed to eat one before Illuminations started.
We were so glad we wentit was as enjoyable as the other day and we had a nice time together. You have to cherish those moments with teenagers! It was lights out after we returned and we continued to wonder about the weather brewing in our area.
Stay tuned for: Epcot, Trouble on TT, Home we go
