Im not sure how well it would run on your computer, you will have to see. But one thing that will help tremendously is updating your video drivers. My game was semi-slow and took 30 minutes to save and had errors. With the downloading video driver updates - It now runs fast, takes about 2 minutes to save and has very few errors.

Our computer is 11 months old.

I say go for it, and just update your drivers and you should be set! go go go!

I created a married couple and finally was able to get them the fancy hot tub with the candles and flowers, they "woo hooed" and she got pregnant, but then I couldn't keep her hunger and sleep levels high enough and the grip reaper came and she died! So, I just didn't "save" the game. The next time I played she got pregnant again (why can't the couple "woo hoo" in their bed?) in the hot tub, and did have the baby this time. It is so cute how her tummy gets bigger, and even has morning sickness (the toilet sure looks gross after she throws up!) and I love how she waddles when she walks!! The baby is just about ready for his first birthday.

I think I need to upgrade my computer a little though, as it takes about 15 minutes to "save" the game, and while I'm playing sometimes it will "freeze" and has to "catch up" or something, and if I get too far ahead of myself the screen will get all jumbled up and I have to end it and start over. Argh!!!

I created Miss Phoebee for Strangetown. I think she'll set her cap for one of Johnny and Ophelia's sons. She's a Fortune Sim and very career oriented.

Just after I moved her into her new home in Strangetown. Lola Singles and Nervous Subject drop by for a visit. Phoebee greets them both and Nervous decides to take a souvenir of the meeting.

With so much going for her, Phoebee raced up the corporate ladder of the Business Career Track. She made it to the top and is now treated to helicopter rides to work.

Inevitably, there are elements that will seek to capitalize on the hard work of others!

Phoebee's ready for such plunder! She wisely invested in a security system. The police reaction was almost immediate.

Now I need to introduce Phoebee to Zapp!

i wish i could play my sims!!! but none of our computers are "strong" enough for it...we're hoping to be able to upgrade in december or january...

I indulged in Build Mode. MISTAKE!

I tried creating an All-in-one Strangetown Community Lot. I used the largest lot size and divided it into quads. It had a mall with an upstairs art gallery. Behind that was the grocery store. Next to the mall was the arcade and hangout. There were games, couches, TV's, etc. Behind that I built a large pool area with grills and hot tub. I decorated with many flowers, shrubs and lights.

I went to play a Sim and have them visit. After 30 minutes, the lot was STILL LOADING. I have never had such a loading delay for TS2. I went and made lunch and ate it. I came back....still loading. I shut down the game. I went back in and bulldozed the lot. Too much stuff on it.

I'd love to see some of your stories or homes...

I have quite a few 'maxed' out Sims. Maybe we can exchange some stuff....

By the way, go to the Sims 2 Exchange and type 'unlocked' in the Sims search engine. You can download the social bunny and grim reaper...LOL!

I love the idea of doing a haunted mansion lot! I have a feeling that the Graceys are about to come to my Strangetown!


I have a question-- according to the guidebook, the number of guests you're allowed to invite to a party is determined by your computer's performance. I have a brand new super-computer, yet it only allows me to invite two! Anyone else have that problem?

I can invite 8.

When you're calling up your guest list, you see more than two names, right?

Many have had this issue also.

On TS2 BBS, MaxoidLucky said that a patch is in the works. There was no mention of the problems it would be addressing. How much RAM do you have?

Yup, I see the whole list of people they know, but it only lets me invite 2. I have 512mb of RAM.


I decided to make the Gracey Mansion tonight, and kill everyone so that I can have my very own Haunted Mansion. This one has only 5 disgruntled haunts, instead of 999 happy ones, though. I actually had 6 people, but I lost an urn somewhere!

A few highlights:

Master Gracy drowned. Now where *did* that ladder go?

Sims going crazy is surprisingly fun. Emily jumped on the sofa.

Ezra needed a visit from the shrink.

Then he started discussing things with a volleyball.

Phineas gets a visit from the social bunny.

Elizabeth, who died in a fire along with Leota and Ezra.

Now I just need to move a new family into the lot, and let them enjoy the grim grinning ghosts!

To get more people at your party, have another sim just call people and invite them over. They'll come over and there's a party going on.. how convenient!

HOW COOL!

There was a Sims 2 chat yesterday. Maxis says they'll make Bella easier to find with the forthcoming patch.

They did a question about short guest lists. It may also have to do with how many Sims are on the lot when the Throw Party interaction is used. Maybe a full house can't throw big parties.

If you can, try beefing up the RAM. It can't hurt....


When you get more grinning hosts, post more pics. Be sure to try for other deaths like electrocution from trying to repair electronics with no mechanic skills. If you vary the deaths enough, you'll have a rainbow of haunts.

I can't use the cheats on Sims 2 anymore. When I do control, shift, c, I get the cheat box, and when I type something it, and hit enter, it makes the box bigger, but the code doesn't work.

I've had that happen. I was mistyping the code. I had to save the lot , restart the game and go back to the lot. I learned to be bery exact in using that box now.

When the cheat box goes bigger on us we press Esc & it goes away.


We are really loving this game...it is awesome......so much more realistic than the original sims.

Anyone had any luck getting their kids accepted into Private Schools? Every time my headmaster comes over something goes wrong.....either someone else has arrived just before or they just want to play games. One time the headmaster went out & had a swing....took forever to get him back inside, by which time I was practially out of time & everyone was soooo tired all they wanted to do was go to bed.

Need to work on this. I've got aging off for now until I can do this successfully.

Some tips from the guide about the headmaster visit:

*If you call before 5pm, he'll come that day, after 5pm, he comes the next day.
*You only have six hours to impress him once he's there!
*Have the best cook in the house serve a meal. The cook should have 5 or more cooking points for the best results. Be sure to have enough time to redo the meal if the Sim burns it!
*When the food's ready, click the headmaster, choose "entertain", and "call to dinner."
*Next give him a tour of the house. You get points for this based on the enviromenemt score of the room, so you may want to temporarily stuff the rooms with decorations! You do the tour by selecting Entertain-Give Tour, then click him and select "Show Room." Repeat with other rooms.
*You can pick up extra brownie points by getting the headmaster into the hot tub, drinking coffee, or having drinks at the bar.

I found an interesting bug! If you have a two storey house with no floor upstairs (ie just really high ceilings ), and are clicked to the upstairs view, the downstairs furniture disappears!

Get some of those Cool Shades that are an aspiration reward object. Have your Sim who is in either Gold or Platinum greet the Headmaster wearing a pair of the glasses. After greeting him, immediately choose to schmooze him while wearing the glasses. The score will be very high. Then either take him on the a Tour or feed him dinner. I also try to wait until most of my children are school aged so I only have to invite him once and if I impress him all of the kids enter private school.
Oh yeah, if you have time serve the headmaster either dessert or espresso.

Invite the Headmaster over on the weekend. I've only gotten him impressed once so far. And the night he came over, a fire broke out in the kitchen. I just made sure Dad showed him to the next room and so on. Then I had the Sim make another dinner. The whole family sat down to eat and it somehow worked, because the boys got in. I haven't tried it since.

Alright Nutsy! Simming at last! WOO HOO! (That carries a whole new meaning, doesn't it?)

So here's a Phobee update! She met Zapp Smith at the Community Lot. They hit it right off.

She invites him over a few times and the chemistry continues.

Zapp is feeling bold and attempts a first kiss with Phoebee.

But alas! He's denied. He eventually succeeds in gaining her love though.

They invite Zapp's family to the wedding. You can see his Mom, Ophelia, and his other brothers wishing them well.

Not long afterwards, Phoebee learns that she'll be a Mom.

On the third day, she's ready to deliver.. Zapp is having a dream about himself...

Little Jesse is born and Zapp makes a very proud papa.

Phoebee just loves her little guy.

Phoebee has changed careers for a new challenge. She quit her job as a Business Tycoon and entered the Politics Track. She started off right at State Assemblywoman (Level 6). That was pretty neat. We'll see how far she goes. Zapp is content to be a stay-at-home Dad with Jesse. Being a Popularity Sim, he can make all the friends that Phobee will need to advance her career.
